No disinvestment or sale of Air India now.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal has stated that Air India sale/ disinvestment will not take place now as no corporate has come forward for the same. Well and good. The government decision to disinvest and sell this government carrier is fully wrong and unjustified. The Government should help it and ensure its continued existence as a central government PSU.

As per the study of the French Tech Firm, Capgemini, the number of High Networth Individuals (HNI) in India has increased by 20% in the year 2017. An High Networth Individual is defined as the one who is having investable assets of over 1 million US Dollars. According to this report, the number of such Dollar Millionaires in India comes to 2.6 lakh people. Their asset worth is a whopping 1 trillion US Dollars! It is also worth mentioning here that, the International Rights Group, Oxfam, has reported that in India, 73% of the wealth created in 2017, has reached the hands of the top 1% of the population, whereas the bottom 67 crore Indians have got only 1% of this wealth. This is how the Narendra Modi government is serving the poor people of this country. (Courtesy: BSNLEU website)

Nirav Modi has 6 Passports – What about other Indian Corporate bosses

18 Monday Jun 2018

It is now revealed that Nirav Modi, the diamond merchant, who cheated the Punjab National Bank more than $ two billion and fled the country, is having at least six passports. As per rules, one is expected to have only one passport.  How Nirav Modi got six? who gave it? All these need to be enquired.

It may not be an exceptional case. What about Mallya? How many passports he is having? What about other Indian Corporate bosses? There is no doubt that such persons also will have illegal passports.

In India, money can buy many things, including passports.

Let the government order an inquiry, in the present known circumstances, about the passports of the corporates and the big business. The result will be interesting and will point to the rotten state of affairs in connection with the corporate bosses. It will also help stopping persons like Mallya and Nirav Modi escaping from the country after cheating the nation and the people.

JUNE 15 – WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS DAY

15 Friday Jun 2018

Every year as per the call of the United Nations, 15th June is observed as ‘ World Elder Abuse Awareness Day’ through out the world. This year also it is being observed at UN head Quarters and other places.

Elderly persons are increasing in every country and where health and social conditions are better, it is more. While in majority cases, they are looked after well or in an ordinary way, harassment also takes place in many cases. Elderly are vulnerable to abuse due to their age, infirmity, diseases, inability to react, family problems, financial matters etc. Social awareness is lacking.

Elderly people are expected treated with respect, compassion and love. This awareness has to be inculcated to the family members, friends, relatives and the society as a whole. ‘World Elder Abuse Awareness Day’ is being observed for this noble cause.

Caste discrimination and Corruption – Two vices retarding progress and democracy

15 Friday Jun 2018

Two of the most virulent vices retarding the progress of the country is caste and corruption. Both are against humanity itself.

While there are corruption all over the world, it is mainly limited at the high or highest level in most of the other countries. But in India, it is from top to the bottom. Common people have to face the  problem at each and every level which makes their daily life miserable. British authors mentioned that their officers who worked in India became corrupt after they were here.

Caste discrimination has dehumanised the Indian Society. Despite continued efforts by governments, political leaders, social workers, religious heads and others this curse continues to exist.

Sustained and determined efforts along with strict enforcement of laws against these two vices are necessary to eliminate them.

Air India – Instead of disinvestment / sale/ privatisation, upgrade and strengthen the National Carrier.

14 Thursday Jun 2018

The Modi government is selling PSUs, one after another, to get some paltry amount as also to benefit the corporates to increase their assets and profits. It is almost as the PSUs are gifted
to private considering the total asset value of the PSU, its bank balance, huge area of land in prime cities etc. But the corporates want the prices to be reduced further more. The fact that no corporate was there for purchasing 76% shares of Air India, underlines this trick.

Instead of disinvestment, sale or privatisation, what is required is to modernise Air India, streamline the functions, take the employees and workers in to confidence and stop the favouritism to private airlines. It is nothing less than a national crime to sell, the pride of the nation, ‘the temples of modern India’ as the first Prime Minister called the PSUs, to the greedy corporates for increasing their profits. The huge bills due by the central government for using the AI by the Ministers, high level officers etc. should be paid immediately.

The political parties and trade unions have a responsibility to ensure that no more PSU is closed or sold or disinvested during the last one year period of the Modi government.

No Railway Coach Factory at Kanjikode, Palakkad – Railway Minister ignores Kerala

14 Thursday Jun 2018

Ignoring Kerala development is the agenda of the Modi Government.

The latest in this series is the statement of the Railway Minister Piyush Goyal that the central government has no immediate plans for construction of the Railway Coach Factory at Kanjikode, Palakkad, which the state government was demanding for a long time and where some initial work had already started.

The justification for the present decision as per Railway minister is that there is no dearth of railway coaches and adequate facilities are already there for the construction of coaches. It is clear that this is a lame excuse to shift the factory to some other states.

Com.M.B.Rajesh, M.P., has taken the issue with all seriousness to the central government.

Global Warming is a warning for the world.

14 Thursday Jun 2018

Several investigations have found out that the continued and increased global warming has become a threat to the mountains and mountains of icebergs in the Antarctica and some of them have started drifting in to the sea. This will mean that they will move again and will start melting which will raise the sea level all over the world submerging the entire coastal areas. It is estimated that since 1992, Antarctica has lost three trillion tonnes of of ice. Oceans are rising by 0.13 inches every year at present. It may increase if the global warming increases and if the massive glaciers of West Antarctica float away and melt, the water may rise up to 11 feet, which will be a big disaster.

But despite all these valid information, US and other developed countries are reluctant to reduce their greenhouse gas which is much higher than the developing countries. They are trying to put the onus on the developing and poor countries. To avoid a catastrophe, all the countries should jointly plan and act for the future generations. (With inputs from The Hindu)

Banks reduce NPAs through ‘write off’ of loans

13 Wednesday Jun 2018

The Central government, SBI and the PSU Banks are in for severe criticism for the NPAs (unpaid loans), mainly by the corporates. It has reached more than Rs. 7 lakh crore. It is reported in the press that this NPA is coming down. This is completely bogus news. The government and Banks are stating now that the NPA is being reduced than from last year. T0 reduce the NPA, what the government had did was that it wrote off the unpaid loans. Fine remedy! The corporates need not pay back and they can take more loans. The Central Govt is doing all these thing only to help the corporates and harass the people.

Kerala LDF Government Marches Ahead (10) – Safeguards peace and secular fabric

09 Saturday Jun 2018

Kerala is a state where all people, belonging to different religions stay peacefully. There has been no communal clash in Kerala during the last two years of LDF rule. Peaceful co-existence and fraternity. Those criminal cases in the past which were lagging for years are dealt with seriously and culprits punished. Immediate action against criminals and perpetrators of crime. National acclaim for the Cyber Cell actions.

Secularism is a tradition of Kerala. For centuries, travelers from all over the world were received and honored by the rulers and people of Kerala. All religions were respected. The great tradition continues. Kerala was one of the states were not even a Sikh was attacked, when such attacks were made all over India after the death Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, shot dead by a Sikh security man.

Of course, certain communalists are trying to create trouble, but it is dealt with effectively. After the shocking rape and murder of an 8 year young girl in a temple in Kathua, Jammu and Kashmir, extreme communal forces of different hues tried to flare up communal tension. It was immediately dealt with and the culprits arrested and proceeded as per law.
