The conference of heads of state and government is taking place on Saturday at the the 17th Non-Aligned Movement Summit, in Venezuela’s Margarita Island.

Leaders and representatives from more than 120 countries will debate key issues such as the need for world peace, increase international cooperation and defend the democratic international organizations, which will be included in the final document of the summit on Sunday, the so-called Declaration of Margarita.

Among the first heads of state to speak during the summit, were the presidents of Ecuador, Bolivia and Cuba, who defended the sovereignty of Venezuela during the current economic crisis, reiterated their support for Palestine in the face of attacks from Israel, and denounced the fact that the U.S. continues its economic blockade against Cuba.

Cuban President Raul Castro demanded the end of the blockade in his speech on Saturday, and for the U.S. to return the territory it occupies at Guantanamo Bay.

“Cuba won’t renounce to any of its principles, it won’t give in from its revolutionary and anti-imperialist ideals,” said Castro.

In the Declaration of Margarita, members of the non-aligned countries will commit to promote and defend peace across the world, one of the fundamental principles of the movement.

With the slogan “United on the Path for Peace,” the summit has ratified the defense on the right of the people to fight for peace and sovereignty,

The heads of state and government meeting will be headed by the President of the of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, who will take from Iran the rotatory chairmanship of the Non-Aligned Movement for the next three years.

Maduro has said he will propose a transformation of the Non-Aligned Movement into an international organization that defiantly says “no” to the new colonialism.(Courtesy; Press report)

HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 19 (acn) We should tell our brothers in Latin America and the world that the Cuban people will win, asserted the historic leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, in a special address at the closing ceremony of the 7th Congress of the Cuban Communist Party, in session for four days at Havana’s Convention Center.

“I congratulate you all and firstly comrade Raul Castro for his wonderful effort,” pointed out Fidel, whose presence in the plenary session aroused prolonged applause from the nearly one thousand delegates and 280 guests present.

He considered that delegates chosen by the people to whom it delegated its authority “it’s the greatest honor they have received in life; added to this is the privilege of being revolutionaries.”

Why did I become a socialist? More clearly, why did I become a Communist?, he asked, and explained how he acquired his ideology, without a private tutor to help him in the study of Marxism-Leninism, and stressed that another 70 years should not elapse for an event like the Russian revolution to occur, for humanity to have another example of a great social revolution that represented a huge step in the fight against colonialism and its inseparable companion, imperialism.

However, he warned that the greatest danger now hovering over Earth derives from the destructive power of modern weaponry, because it could undermine peace in the world and make it impossible for human life on the surface of the earth to exist.

RaulCastro, Cuban President, warns people of ‘real intentions’ of US

HAVANA, April 16 (Xinhua) — Cuban President Raul Castro on Saturday called for political and constitutional reforms to the island’s socialist system and warned of the U.S. “real intentions” in mending ties with the Caribbean nation.

During a keynote address at the opening of the Seventh Congress of Cuba’s Communist Party (PCC), Castro said the Constitution should be amended to reflect “the new era” of modernization, and to set term limits on political leaders.

“The next five years will be decisive for our country and we propose a systematic policy to renovate all government and party officials,” the first secretary of the party said.

Castro proposed all top political leaders be eligible for one-time re-election to a second five-year term, then leave office to make way for younger generations.

He also proposed an age limit to enter the party’s Central Committee and its top decision-making bodies.

The renovation of the leadership, said the president, will take place over the next five years leading up to the party’ s next congress in 2021, though Castro himself will be stepping down earlier.

“It is no secret that my second term as president of the councils of State and Ministers will come to an end in 2018, and I will hand over my responsibilities to whoever is elected,” Castro said.

Regarding the recent rapprochement between Cuba and the U.S. following half a century of enmity, Castro said all Cubans should know Washington’s intention toward the government in Havana remain the same — regime change — but the White House is today taking a different tack.

“We must be more vigilant than ever, since the U.S. has changed its strategy, but not its objective,” said Castro, warning “the methods used will be more difficult to counteract.”

Nonetheless, both countries continue to work to normalize ties and the Cuban government is committed to fully developing “beneficial cooperation” for both sides, said Castro.

“We must work on what unites us and build new bridges of cooperation for mutual interests,” he said.

Castro called on the PCC and political organizations to foster greater participation of the people in the decision-making process, “since only frank, honest discussion among revolutionaries can produce solutions.”

A thing which can not be dreamed of 5 years back has happened. US President Barack Obama has been invited to and visited Cuba yesterday. Since the 1959 Cuban revolution under the leadership of Fidel Castro which threw away the US supported dictator, US has taken all steps to isolate and destroy Cuban government.

After 88 years, the embargo has been removed, diplomatic relations have restored and now US President has visited Cuba. We welcome this development. The positive role taken by Cuban President Raul Castro, US President Barack Obama and the persuation by Pope have resulted in to this loosening of the tension.

WASHINGTON The United States on Friday issued regulations easing restrictions on American companies seeking to do business in Cuba and opening up travel in the latest action to weaken the U.S. trade embargo amid warming relations with the Communist country.
The rules, which take effect on Monday, Sept. 21, target travel, telecommunications, Internet-based services, business operations and banking, and allow U.S. companies to establish a presence in Cuba. They also eliminate limits on the amount of money people can send back to the Caribbean nation.
“A stronger, more open U.S.-Cuba relationship has the potential to create economic opportunities for both Americans and Cubans alike,” U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob Lew said in a statement.
“By further easing these sanctions, the United States is helping to support the Cuban people in their effort to achieve the political and economic freedom necessary to build a democratic, prosperous, and stable Cuba,” he said. (Press Reports)

Fidel Castro completes 89 years! Greetings to the Revolutionary who changed Cuban History.

Cuba, Fidel Castro

Today, 13th August 2015, is the 90th Birth Day of the Revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who created a new history for the Cuban people.

On his 90th birthday, the Communist leader has demanded the US government that it should refund Cuba for the loss   of millions and millions of dollars Cuba had to suffer because of the US trade embargo which was imposed about six decades back. This is a fully justified demand of the Cuban people.

In the same way, it is time for India to demand Britain for the return of the thousands and thousands of valuable books, antiques, historical artifacts, precious stones, gold etc. including the Kohinoor Diamond to be returned to India, which is the real owner. Will Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, take courage to raise the demand in his Independence Day Speech at Red Fort on  15th August 2015?

Cuba, US restore diplomatic relations

Cuba, Diplomatic relations, US

Cuba and US have restored their diplomatic relations today, 20th July 2015 after five decades. The breaking off the relations at the time of John F. Kennedy, President US and Fidel Castro, President Cuba is restored now. US broke the relations on the plea of Cuba’s closeness with Communist USSR.

Between this period, the isolation of Cuba changed and most of the countries in the Latin America as well as in the continent restored friendly relations with Cuba. US was almost isolated. This was one important reason for the compulsion for US to change its stance. However, still there are many critics in the US against this decision taken by President Barak Obama.

We heartily welcome the present restoration of the diplomatic relations between US and Cuba.
