Whether Prime Minister is to be under Lok Pal Bill?

India corruption, Lokpal

Whether Prime Minister should be under the ambit of the Lok Pal Bill? This is the most important question that is being asked today.
As far as my opinion is concerned, I have got no doubt about it. It is a must that the Prime Minister also should be under the ambit of the Lok Pal Bill. It is necessary that any Prime Minister should be clean and should seem also as clean. Prime Minister has got so many privileges. But this privilege of exempting from the ambit of Lok Pal is unjustified.
The UPA II government should come clean and accept the above demand. Otherwise it will seem that it has something to hide.

The four left parties viz. CPI(M), CPI, AIFB and RSP has jointly called upon the people to continue the struggle against the rampant corruption. The demands raised by the Left Parties are:
1. Adoption of an effective Lok Pal Bill.
2. There should be a National Judicial Commission to curb corruption in high judiciary.
3. Stringent action against the rampant corruption fostered by the big business-politician-bureaucratic nexus which has led to scandal such as 2G Spectrum case.
4. Implementation of electoral reforms including introduction of proportional representation system to check money power in lections.
5. Steps to unearth black money stashed abroad.
The Left parties have called upon the people to participate massively in the anti-corruption movement programmes being organised from 15th to 21st July. A Parliament March during the coming session is also decided.

Now the former Chief Justice of the Supreme court is under the scanner of CBDT. The Home Ministry has asked CBDT to probe in to the allegations that K.G.Balakrishnan, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, has amassed wealth disprportionate to his income. It is also alleged that his family members also have amassed wealth during the period he was the Chief Justice of the country.
What a sorry state of affairs! The Chief Justice of the nation who is to uphold justice and truth is being enquired for corruption?

Lok Pal Bill – No agreement on inclusion of PM

India corruption, Lokpal

It has happened as expected. The government members in the Lok Pal Draft committee has not agreed to the inclusion of the Prime Minister in the ambit of the proposed Lok Pal Bill, as demanded by the civil Society members in the committee. On the other hand Anna Hazare has threatened Hunger strike on the issue.
Is the Lok Pal Bill being delayed further as was done for the last so many years? People want a strong and effective Lok Pal Bill with their hard experience of all round corruption.

India corruption

The people in Orissa are agitating against the Environment clearance given for POSCO project which will not only take away the forest lands and lands of the poor people but also is an environmental hazard. Jayram Ramesh, Environment Minister, who opposed it earlier has now cleared it, probably under pressure.
But more news are coming. It is alleged that former Minister A.Rja, who was Environment Minister before he came to Telecom, is also involved as well as Minister P.Chidambaram.
In a statement issued by many save environmental organisations, they have exposed the role played by Raja and Chidambaram in giving clearance to Posco earlier and pressurising the concerned authorities.
In these circumstances, it is very much necessary that these allegations are enquired in to by the CBI.

India corruption

After Mr. Sivasankaran, former Aircel owner has stated to the CBI charging the former Communications Minister Dayanidhi Maran with adopting armtwisting methods for selling his stakes in Aircel to Maxis, the latter is in real trouble. In addition, certain issues pertaining to the textile ministry are also coming up.
How many ministers in th e UPA government are already on corruption charges? How many more are coming? It is time that the Prime Minister has to take stock of the situation which is already alarming and take immediate action. But unfortunately he also seems to be supporting the corrupt till the last moment.Vey unfortunate!

Midnight arrest at Ramlila grounds – Severe critisism by Supreme Court

India corruption

In addition to the strong protests of the political parties, democratic movements, intellectuals, social activists etc. , the Supreme Court also made stringent remarks on the midnight attack of the police on the people in the Ramlila grounds. It asked the government to explain its behaviour in the matter.

The Prime Minister was compelled to state openly that the incident was unfortunate. But his justification that it was inevitable will not be accepted by any body. The Prime Minister who is supposed to defend the rights of the people, should have condemned the attack on the people. But leading a government fully immersed in corruption, the Prime Minister is unable to tolerate the protest against corruption. How unfortunate!

UPA II Govt’s Ramlila Operation deplorable

India corruption

The midnight action on the people in the Ramlila Grounds is, to say the least, deplorable and condemnable. The UPA government is moving on fascist line when the question of corruption and blackmoney is raised against it.
If Baba Ramdev is a fake as put by the government spokesmen, why did the government sent four cabinet ministers headed by senior most Minister Pranab Mukherjee and conducted discussion with him for hours? It is not a question of the credibility of Baba Ramdev, it is a question of the democratic rights of the people that has been trampled upon by the midnight operation of 5000 police on the peaceful protesters.

Baba Ramdev on fast against corruption – controversies

India corruption

Baba Ramdev has started his fast at Ramlila maidan today against corruption. Thousands of his followers are participating in it in the well arranged pandal. But some of the media has termed it as five star fast. Congress has stated that it is a political game of the BJP/RSS. Anna Hazare supported the fast, but today he has stated that he will come to Delhi and see whether it is a five star fast.
Central Government succumbed to the threat of fast and four cabinet ministers including Pranab Mukherjee went to the airport to receive Baba Ramdev to dissuade him from starting the fast. The government also says that it has agreed to most of the demands raised by Baba Ramdev. At the same time congress party is ridiculing the fast.
What is cooking is not clear. Let us wait. But there is not doubt that the huge scams and corruption coming one after another have to be exposed, enquired and the the guilty given maximum penalty for cheating the country and the people.

Why Government is silent on the allegations against Minister Dayanidhi Maran?

India corruption

The studied silence of the central government and its spokespersons on the allegations of corruption against former Communications and present Textiles Minister Shri Dayanidhi Maran is surprising. The spokespersons are stated to have replied that it is up to Dayanidhi Maran to reply. This is unusual. It is the UPA II government itself which is involved. There is a joint responsiblity to the cabinet and how the government can say that it is to be explained by the concerned Minister only.
This only points that the government do not want to involve in the matter and that some thing wrong is there.
Let us wait for further details in the matter.
