After the election of an anti- austerity government in Greece, the anti-austerity movement in Spain is strengthening. A report on the massive mobilisation in support of the anti-austerity measures is given below:

MADRID, Jan 31 (Reuters) – Tens of thousands marched in Madrid on Saturday in the biggest show of support yet for Spanish anti-austerity party Podemos, whose policies and surging pre-election popularity have drawn comparisons with Greece’s new Syriza rulers. Crowds chanted “yes we can” or “tic tac tic tac” to suggest the clock was ticking for Spain’s scandal-ridden political elite. Many waved Greek and Republican flags and banners reading “the change is now” or “Pablo president.” Podemos (“We Can”) was formed just a year ago by university professor Pablo Iglesias, but produced a major shock by winning five seats in elections for the European Parliament in May. Tapping into Spaniards’ austerity fatigue and widespread anger at “la casta,” as it calls the country’s business and political elites, it is currently topping opinion polls in the run-up to local, regional and national elections this year.

Discrimination against BSNL customers by private telecom operators scrapped by Supreme Court. A report in CNBC

Discrimination against BSNL customers by private telecom operators scrapped by Supreme Court. A report in CNBC

Telcos have lost a differential tariff case dating back to 2008 at the Supreme Court. The private telcos charged higher for calls to BSNL, MTNL   customers in states like Maharashtra, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh. However, calling the move as arbitrary, the apex court said that customers cannot be differentiated based on call origination. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has asked telcos to set aside extra amount collected.(courtesy :CNBC TV)

We condemn these attacks on Churches in Delhi

St.Alphonso Church, Vasantkunj has been attacked and vandalised. This is the third Christian Church that has been attcked in Delhi in recent months. Earlier, St.Sebastians in Dilshad Garden and Lady of Graces in Vikaspuri were attacked. The attacks are be part of intolerance against the minority communities and divisive politics to get benefit in the coming stiffly contested Delhi elections.
We strongly condemn these dastrardly attacks and demand immediate and stringent action against the culprits.

SAVE BSNL, SAVE INDIA – Procure Equipments

There is acute shortage of equipments: cables, mobile lines, towers, broadband modem, dropwire, telephone instruments etc. etc. BSNL Management should wake up and act for procurement.
People want BSNL services. It is the duty and responsibility of the management to act to the wishes of the customers. Do not fail them

SAVE BSNL, SAVE INDIA – Procure Equipments

There seems to be a misunderstanding that customers are not approaching BSNL for getting services and are approaching private telecom companies only. This is not at all true. People like to get BSNL services despite the fact that the services are not so good as they would like.
The people know that BSNL does not cheat the subscriber like the private operators. Hence their request for BSNL services. Even for landlines, there are good number of requests for getting broadband in which BSNL is the master service provider.
But what is happening?
These applications are being closed by BSNL after one or two months, stating that they are not feasible. The main reason is lack of cable and other equipments. Mobile connection requests could not br provided as Sim cards are not abailable.
It is the duty of the BSNL Management to ensure supply of equipment. It has to take immediate action for procurement of required equipment. If funds are not available, they should take loan and do business and make profit. If the management can not even provide equipment and ensure expansion, development and maintenance, what exactly is the meaning and duty of management? Taking hefty salary only for laziness and inactivity? This has to change. The management should become real management, instead of presiding over a declining company. The wake up call for the management has already rung. It is for them to act.

This corrupt and unjust system to be changed

Contract workers are ruthlessly being exploited. A Data  Entry Operator is being paid a monthly wage of Rs.7,000; a Lift Operator Rs.5,000 and a 24 hours
House Keeping Worker Rs.4,000.They are eligible  about double the amount as per Gazette Notification by Labour Ministry.
What is happening in BSNL? Why BSNL is not ensuring Minimum Wage to its contract workers? Is the Principal Employer, BSNL,  sleeping, or feigning sleep? Wake up BSNL Management and ensure justice to these low paid workers!

SAVE BSNL, SAVE INDIA – How to maintain a Garden?

I was at Sambalpur to attend the Circle Conference of BSNL Casual & Contract Workers Federation, Odisha Circle. I was staying in the IQ of Telephone Bhawan. As usual, when I started to go for morning walk, I saw that a person about 50 years of age was cleaning the garden at the very early morning. He was doing the work alone with full concentration. He completely cleaned, then started planting some seeds of flowers as also some small plants. Then he watered the plants. I was very happy to watch the process which he was doing meticulously. After a few minutes, I called him and conveyed my appreciation. He was happy that his work has been appreciated.
If we all do our entrusted work with such concentration and sincereity, I am sure, we will be able to provide excellent service to the customers.
