I am not joking. Waiting in the Mumbai Airport, I thought I will have a cup of tea. There was only one stall. I ordered for a cup of tea. Vow! The cost is Rs. 160. Of course, I should have checked before  ordering. But still Rs. 160 for a cup of tea !
After privatisation of airports, there is no limit to the looting of people !

The militant tradition of W.Bengal Comrades

11 Saturday Oct 2014

I always had a great fascination for W.Bengal. The reasons are many. Being  the head quarters of Esst India Company and later British Empire in India, naturally the resistance also started there. Of course, the centre of resistance of the First War of Independence 1857 was in the Hindi belt.
The cultural heritage of Bengal is also well known. The spirited fight of Bengalis compelled the British to cancel the division of Bengal.
The early history of P and T trade union movement is  closely connected to Calcutta. It is here that Pioneers like Henry Barton, Tarapada and B.N.Ghosh built up the mighty movement. It is here where Comrade K.G.Bose  lived and worked, who inspired a whole generation of young comrades like me to dedicate ourselves to the cause of workers and to  fight uncompromisingly against the revisionist tendencies and leadership in the organisation.
I remembered all these when I am here to attend the circle conference of BSNLEU at Krishnagar. The discussion in the conference has once again shown that Bengal keeps its militant tradition.

Congratulations to Kailash Sathyarthi and Malala Yousafzai

This years Nobel Price for Peace has been awarded jointly to one Indian and one Pakistani – both who have dedicated for the cause of children – Kailash Sathyarthi and Malala Yousafzai.
The award of this Nobel Price for peace is indeed noteworthy, a change from the past. While the former was not much known except for those connected with his Bachpan Bachao Andolan, though it has been spread over 140 countries, Malala has already become a world celebrity during the last few years for her courageous fight for girls’ education. One is a senior citizen, the other is a girl student.
My Congraulations  for both Nobel Awardees!

The Circle Conference of BSNLEU W.Bengal Circle Conference will start today, 9th October at Krisnagar.
W.Bengal is one of our militant circle and has contributed much to the growth  of BSNLEU.
Just like all trade unions in W.Bengal, BSNLEU is also under heavy attack. The Mamata Government and the Trinamool goons together are attacking all democratic institutions. It is in this situation that the conference is being held.
I will attend address the Open Session tomorrow. The discussion and decisions will be crucial.
