"Black Day" on 30-06-2015 - AIRF

New Delhi-12th June 2015
Dr. Bibek Debroy Committee Report is a clear roadmap for privatization of Indian Railways. This was stated here by Shri Shiva Gopal Mishra, General Secretary of All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF).
Shri Mishra further stated that the suggestions given by the Committee will endanger the Railway Safety and It will also increase financial burden on Indian Railways. The Report is quite unworkable and will be against 95 percent of Rail users of this country, who travels in general & sleeper classes.
Shri Mishra further hoped that keeping in mind its wider ramifications particularly on the comman man , government may not implement it.
Shri Shiva Gopal Mishra further mentioned that AIRF has decided to organize 23rd June to 30th June , 2015 as campaign week. AIRF has also given Clarion call to organize Black Day on 30th June 2015 throughout Indian Railway by wearing black badge and organizing Mass Meetings in the Ist phase of its agitation. In 2nd phase Rail users will also be involved and the movement will be made “ Jan Andolan”. (Courtesy: AIRF)

It is reported that funds from USOF will be provided. Good. But what abut the Rs. 1,250 crore already allotted by USOF for 2012-13. It is not yet paid to BSNL , although the amount was sanctioned much earlier.

All the 4 unions in the Tata Steel UK have decided to go on strike on 22nd June 2015 against the proposal to close the Pension Scheme in the company. The unions have taken strike ballot and there has been huge support for the strike from the 12,000 and odd workers.

In the European countries, including UK, there are moves to curtail the pension benefits. Struggles are taking in many countries.

We fully support the fully justified strike of the Tata Steel UK workers.

The meeting of Central Committee of CPI(M) is being held today and tomorrow at AKG Bhavan  New Delhi. This is the first meeting of CC after the Party Congress at Visakhapatnam. Hence many organisational matters will be discussed.
On this occasion, I could meet many senior leaders and convey to them the developments in BSNL and seek their guidance and help. Many of these comrades had much helped the BSNL workers in their struggles. The  book on the struggles organised by Joint Forum/ JAC/Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations was also handed over.

The world mobile penetration has reached 99% as per a recent report. Central and Eastern Europe leads the penetration with 143% followed by western Europe with 127%. China is having 92% and India, 76%.

However, the fastest growing mobile sector is in India with 26 million in this quarter with China following with 8 million. (Courtesy: Business Line)

BSNL has got to be part of this great growth. The Government, Management and Workers have to make a crusade for the same.

Why not one Ordinance on OROP, Mr. PM?

30 Saturday May 2015

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

Prime Minister Narendra Modi stated today that the Government is committed to implement One Rank One Pension (OROP). Well and good. But when are you going to implement? It is already one year. On Land Acqusition, you have already issued three ordinances, against strong protest from the farmers and opposition parties.

Why can’t you issue one Ordinance for OROP, which is supported by the Govt. as well as opposition and which both UPA and NDA governments had assured?

Do not cheat the veterans who had defended the Nation.

Five Day week – A genuine right of workers

29 Friday May 2015

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

Five Days Week is the system in most of the European countries and developed world. In the metro cities, it has started in many MNCs and private cocerns. In New Delhi, the central govt. offices function 5 days.
In the present scenario of things, 2 days are necessary in a week to look after family affairs and connected matters.

In this situation, the agreement in the banking sector granting 2nd and 4th Saturdays as holidays are much welcome. This is a step towards Five Days Week.
