A meeting of the Executive Committee of BSNLCCWF was held at Kozhikode on 07-11-2016 presided over by Com. Jayarajan, District President. Com. T.T.Asokan, District Secretary welcomed all. Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, President, BSNLCCWF  in his inaugural speech explained the decisions of the Central Secretariat meeting held on 26-10-2016, including the Parliament March on 22-02-2017 and the meetings with the CLC, CMD BSNL etc. He also explained the Charter of demands presented by the CCWF. He congratulated the kerala contract workers for the historic strike and achievement. Com.M.Vijaya Kumar, All India Org. Secretary BSNLEU addressed the meeting.

As per call of Forum and other unions, massive lunch hour demonstrations have been organised today, 27th October 2016 all over India against formation of Tower company bifurcating BSNL. In Delhi the demonstration took place in the corporate office premises participated by hundreds.

The Circle Conference of AIBDPA M.P.Circle was held at Com.S.R.Nayak Sabhaghar (Pandit Makhanlal Chathurvedi Sabha Bhavan), Jabalpur on 23rd October 2016. About two hundred delegates were present. Before start of the conference, AIBDPA flag was hoisted and floral homage paid to  Martyrs.
The Open session was presided by Com.S.C.Shrivastava Circle President. Com. Lakhan Patel Convener, Reception Committe and Com.H.S.Thakur, Circle Secretary Reception Committee   welcomed all. All leaders present were garlanded and presented with shawls and coconuts as per  tradition. 
Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, Advisor AIBDPA in his inaugural speech touched upon the formation of AIBDPA, it’s struggles for the BSNL- DOT  and Central government Pensioners. Achievements of 78.2% IDA Pension fixation, cancellation of 60: 40 condition etc were explained. He congratulated the M.P.Circle Union for its excellent work. Comrades Jagdish Singh, Vice President BSNLEU, Prakash Sharma, Circle Secretary BSNLEU, B.S.Raghuvansi Circle President BSNLEU, Sheikh Ghani senior  leader, Vivek Shrivastava SNEA, Chakresh Akhepuria AIBSNLEA, Saket Shukla FNTO and other leaders attended and addressed. Com.Mrs.Kanta Naik (w/o Com.S.R.Naik) along with many women Pensioners was present.
The annual report and accounts were presented by Circle Secretary Com.H.S.Thakur and treasurer respectively. Both were adopted unanimously.
Office bearers with Com. Sheikh Ghani as Patron, Com. S.C.Shrivastava, as President, Com. H.S. Thakur as Circle Secretary and Com. M.K.Ukey as Treasurer  were unanimously elected.
The Conference took organisational decision to strengthen the organisation.

Reports are appearing in the newspapers and media almost everyday about the hacking of the ATMs and cheating of crores of rupees by cyber thieves. Of course, the banks may refund the money stolen, but it will be only in the cases, where they are reported/complained. What about the depositors who have not checked or do not know to check?

ATMs are convenient. But it is also charged after certain withdrawals or are charged when withdrawn from the ATM of another bank. The Banks are getting benefitted by ATMs, since the staff can be reduced and they will get the ATM usage charge.

It is the responsibility of the Bank Managements that the ATMs are made safe to the extent possible. The saying that “Thieves are always far ahead of the Police” may be true,. But the Police have to improve fast to catch the thief.

The BSNL Management has decided to hold the membership verification for executive associations for grant of recognition on 16th November 2016. 10 associations have applied for participation, including SNEA and AIBSNLEA. There will be only the name of the association in the ballot paper, not the symbol. The election is through secret ballot. Only one association will be recognised.

The following is an epic struggle of the P and T workers in Assam to safe gusrd the workers from outsiders’ attacks.

On 30th January 1971, Ex-MLA one R.M.Das entered the Karimganj exchange with about 100 persons and beat the telephone operators on duty, including ladies, causing severe injuries.

On complaint, 6 miscreants were arrested, but not  the main accused, due to his influence in the government. Assam P and Co-ordinating Committee leaders met the Chief Minister on 2nd February and requested for action against the culprits, but nothing was done.  This infuriated the employees, who went on strike from the same day.

The entire P and T services in Assam were at a standstill. NFPTE General Secretary Com.A.S.Rajan and other General Secretaries met the Communications Minister and apprised him of the serious situation. The Minister assured to take immediate action against the culprits, police protection will be provided to the staff, no disciplinary action will be taken against the officials and also no dies-non will be issued.

On the basis of these assurances, the strike was called on the 6th February 1971.

It is through such local struggles that NFPTE became a very powerful organisation in due course.

AIBDPA Odisha Circle Union was formed in the formation conference held at Bhubaneswar today, 14th October 2016. Pensioners from various SSAs of Odisha participated. They were very enthusiastic. Com.P.R.Das, veteran leader and President BSNLEU presided. Com.Sheik Hussain, Convener welcomed all. Senior leader Com.Sahdev Biswal, Circle Secretary BSNLEU, Com.S.R.Das and others addressed.

Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, Advisor BSNLEU, inaugurated the Conference. He congratulated BSNLEU and the Pensioners for taking initiative for formation of AIBDPA Circle union.He explained the formation of AIBDPA, the struggles it has organised for the cause of the Pensioners including 78.2% IDA Pension fixation etc. The policy and programme of AIBDPA was explained. He spoke about the International movement of Pensioners and Retirees. He called the pensioners to strengthen the organisation.
