Nado Tania, NE

The unfortunate incidences of attack on the North East youngsters are increasing in Delhi. The latest is the death of Nado Tania, a young student, due to beating by some shop keepers.
These are unacceptable in a civilised society. The Central and state governments have to move fast and acct fast to give confidence to the NE people. The culprits should be booked and punished.
The secular and democratic content of the Republic is to be ensured.

CPI(M) and CPI has clinched electoral alliance in with AIADMK in T.Nadu. The CPI leaders yesterday and CPI(M) today met Jayalalitha and agreed to fight the general elections together.

CPI(M) general secretary Comrade Prakash Karat expressed the hope that the alliance between the AIADMK and the Left will perform strongly in Tamil Nadu and contribute to the success of the alternative front at the national level.

Announcing the decision to face the Lok Sabha polls along with the AIADMK, Comrade Prakash Karat said a substantial number of non-congress and non-BJP parties with substantial support across the country would join the alliance.

Electoral reforms, Law Commission, Meeting

The absence of the ruling party Congress and main opposition party BJP in the meeting conducted by the Law Commission on 1st February at New Delhi to discuss about electoral reforms is highly inappropriate. The meeting has been called by the Law Commission as
perthe guidelines of the Supreme Court.

Legal luminaries such as Soli Sorabji and TR Anthyarjuna attended the meeting along with Law Commission chairman Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and former chairman Justice BP Jeevan Reddy.

The Left Parties, Biju Janata Dal and some other parties attended the meeting. Some of the issues in the agenda was about the expense of candidates, eligibility of the criminally convicted candidates etc.

It is not known why Congress and BJP did not attend. Is it whether they boycotted or is there any other reason?

EW DELHI, FEB 1:
Major national and regional parties, including the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Bahujan Samaj Party and the Samajwadi Party, gave a miss to the Law Commission’s one-day discussion on electoral reforms. The meeting held here on Saturday was focusing on the methods to decriminalise politics.
In the six national parties, only CPI(M) and CPI attended the meeting. Biju Janata Dal was the only major regional party and was represented by MP Pinaki Mishra.

The Commission had started the process after the Supr

Left, non-BJP parties, Non-Congress

General Secretary Prakash Karat stated today that about 10 non-Congress, non-BJP parties are willing to come together for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections to provide a viable alternative.

However, he stated that this is not a Third Front as such, but effort is being made to bring the non-congress, non-BJP parties together. The concrete shape will take after the results of the election are announced. In the meanwhile these parties announce a common approach by 5th February, on the day the Parliament meets.

The AIADMK, JD(U), JD(S), BJD, Samajwadi Party and the Left are likely to be part of the non-Congress, non-BJP coalition, Comrade Karat said.

If this combination is formed, it will be better for the country.

North-East Boy beaten to death – What is happening in Delhi?

Delhi, NE Boy

We strongly condemn the beating of a North-East boy to death by some shop owners. It is stated that even after the police made a compromise between the students and traders, the latter attacked the boy again which resulted in death of the youngster. There also seems to be some racial antagonism also.
There should be zero tolerance to such goondaism. The government and the Delhi Police should take immediate action to arrest all the culprits and proceed against them.
India is a country of many states, religion, caste and creed. Everybody has got a right to live anywhere in India.

Kisan rally

New Delhi, January 31: Hundreds of peasants from Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamilnadu and Karnataka held a March and a massive Dharna at Jantar Mantar against the implementation of the Kasturirangan Committee Recommendations on Western Ghats. Over 2.5 lakh signatures were collected from Kerala against the HLWG Recommendations which was also handed over to the Ministry. Delegates from Tamilnadu also came with resolutions against the recommendations passed by Gram Sabhas which will be handed over to the Government. The Corporates, India Inc, oppose increase of LPG Quota

LPG, UPA

The common people are happy with the increase of LPG quota from 9 to 12 announced by the Government. The UPA government was not happy to take such a decision, but the election year will see so many about-turn like this. The government was also compelled to assure that Adhar will not be mandated for providing subsidy.

And now comes the real culprits. The Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) has criticised the reversal of earlier decision. It stated that this is a retrograde decision. The Global Rating Agency ICRA has also criticised the same. Now one after another the corporate houses will pressurise the government to change the decision. While they get maximum concession and subsidies by the government, they can not tolerate even a small mercy towards the common people.

The Defence of Stalingrad – The Defeat of Nazi Army

II World War, Stalingrad

31 January 1943 will not be forgotten by anyone who has gone through the history of II World War. It was on this day that Hitler had his first major defeat in the II WW and which changed history and saved the world from the scourge of nazism and Fascism.
The axis forces of Hitler of Germany, Emperor Hirohito of Japan and Mussolini of Italy were advancing everywhere against the allied forces of US, Britain and USSR. The start of the IIWW saw Hitler attacking the nearby countries, the Britain and France etc. But the main enemy of the axis forces was the socialist country USSR. The German Army with lakhs of military and air force attacked USSR and captured a large portion of the country. The Red Army and the people fought with all their might. It was in Stalingrad that the most fiercest battle was fought. Major portion of Stalingrad was taken by the German Army.
Losing Stalingrad would have been a crucial victory for Germans and certain defeat for the young socialist country. The German military was far superior in numbers, equipment, armour and firing power. More than 2 lakh military and Air force personnel were employed by Hitler. Reinforcement was coming from the back lines. Though in lesser numbers and less armour The Red Army was committed and determined to fight to the last man, the last drop of blood to defend their beloved country. The people also was determined to defend their Soviet Country. Inch by inch, street by street they fought with the enemy and pushed them back. The defence of Stalingrad continued for months. At last the German army was surrounded. In these few months alone more than 2 lakh soldiers from both sides were killed in action. At last on 31st January, the German Army at Stalingrad had no other course, but to surrender.
It was the turning point in the II World War. The Red Army recaptured the soviet land, which has been captured and ravaged by the German Army and pushed them back to Germany and at last to Berlin, the capital of Germany. On 2n May 1945, the Red Army captured Berlin and hoisted the Red Flag there. The world was saved from the Nazi terror.
We can not imagine, what if the Nazi army was not defeated at Stalingrad! On this day, 71 years after the historic Defence of Stalingrad, my Red Salutes to the lakhs of Red Army and ordinary people who through their ultimate sacrifice have saved the world.
