2nd June 1945 is a Historic day! It was on this day that the Red Flag of the Soviet Union was hoisted in Berlin, the headquarters of  Nazi Germany, putting an end to the most destructive II World War launched by the Hitler-Mussolini-Tojo axis.

The war claimed crores of army men and civilians scattered all over the world. It was really a world war. The defeat of the Nazi-Fascist axis changed the world. Many countries including India got independence from the colonial rulers. The UNO and connected organisations were established. Peace was given another chance.

on this 71st Anniversary of the day we remember the great men and martyrs who saved the world from a complete catastrophe.

II World War, Stalingrad

31 January 1943 will not be forgotten by anyone who has gone through the history of II World War. It was on this day that Hitler had his first major defeat in the II WW and which changed history and saved the world from the scourge of nazism and Fascism.
The axis forces of Hitler of Germany, Emperor Hirohito of Japan and Mussolini of Italy were advancing everywhere against the allied forces of US, Britain and USSR. The start of the IIWW saw Hitler attacking the nearby countries, the Britain and France etc. But the main enemy of the axis forces was the socialist country USSR. The German Army with lakhs of military and air force attacked USSR and captured a large portion of the country. The Red Army and the people fought with all their might. It was in Stalingrad that the most fiercest battle was fought. Major portion of Stalingrad was taken by the German Army.
Losing Stalingrad would have been a crucial victory for Germans and certain defeat for the young socialist country. The German military was far superior in numbers, equipment, armour and firing power. More than 2 lakh military and Air force personnel were employed by Hitler. Reinforcement was coming from the back lines. Though in lesser numbers and less armour The Red Army was committed and determined to fight to the last man, the last drop of blood to defend their beloved country. The people also was determined to defend their Soviet Country. Inch by inch, street by street they fought with the enemy and pushed them back. The defence of Stalingrad continued for months. At last the German army was surrounded. In these few months alone more than 2 lakh soldiers from both sides were killed in action. At last on 31st January, the German Army at Stalingrad had no other course, but to surrender.
It was the turning point in the II World War. The Red Army recaptured the soviet land, which has been captured and ravaged by the German Army and pushed them back to Germany and at last to Berlin, the capital of Germany. On 2n May 1945, the Red Army captured Berlin and hoisted the Red Flag there. The world was saved from the Nazi terror.
We can not imagine, what if the Nazi army was not defeated at Stalingrad! On this day, 71 years after the historic Defence of Stalingrad, my Red Salutes to the lakhs of Red Army and ordinary people who through their ultimate sacrifice have saved the world.

Grim Memories of the II World War – A warning to humanity

antiques, Bombs, Germany, II World War, paintings

It is almost seven decades after the worst war in history, the II World War, is over. After the defeat of the Germany-Japan-Italy axis forces by the Allied forces under USSR-Britain-US, the war ended. United Nations and a number of international organisations were formed to ensure peace and against another world war.
There is still no authentic account of the armed forces as also civilian population that perished in the II World War. Entire countries were devastated. The Nazi war machinery destroyed everything in its way, looted, and laid bare the landscapes till it was stopped by the USSR.
Even after seven decades, fresh news come about the II World War.Two reports have come in the last few days. one, an 1,800 ton unexploded bomb was found in Dormond a city in Germany. All the 20,000 and more people within 1.5 sq.km was evacuated and the bomb deactivated.
Another news is about the finding of thousands of antiques, paintings of great masters including that of Picasso and Matisse which the German invaders have looted from the lands they have conquered. It was all kept in a darkened secluded room by one octogenarian and were being sold when money was needed.

II World War completely the changed the world in all respects. But the price the humanity had to pay for the same was unimaginable. There should never be such another war!

Hitler, II World War, USSR

It was the Hitler’s attack on Soviet Union in 1941 that caused a big change in the entire situation of the II World War. It was on 21st June 1941, that fascist Germany attacked USSR. ON 22nd, Soviet Union declared all out defence offensive to the attack of Nazi Germany. Hitler thought that USSR could be defeated easily with the invincible war machinery Germany has got.

Germany advanced in to Soviet territory despite strong defence from USSR. It captured cities after cities and neared Moscow, the capital. USSR was fighting for its survival. It requested the UK, USA etc. to make a war front  in the western side so that Hitler will have to fight on both sides. But they waited, hoping that USSR will be finished and the offensive can start after that.

But the people of Soviet Union and the Red Army were determined to throw out the aggressors at all costs. The defence production was increased many times, all the young men enrolled in the army, guerilla squads started active work in the areas captured by the Nazis and a fight to the last was started by the entire people. The pitched battle in Stalingrad, inch by inch, street by street, between the forces of Nazi Army and Red Army was an epic battle which will ever be remembered. The mighty army of Hitler was utterly defeated and thrown back. Thousands and thousands of soldiers perished on both sides. This was the turning point. The Red Army advanced destroying the war machine of Hitler. Nazi Army was routed. After throwing them from USSR, Red Army advanced to Berlin, captured the capital city and hoisted the Red Flag in the capital on 2nd May 1945.

When the tides turned in the war, UK and US started their advance on the Western Front. Their armies also reached Berlin after a few days. Hitler had already committed suicide  by the time red army reached Berlin.
