Left Parties, Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Nov 30 : Accusing the NDA government of pursuing “anti-people policies”, Left parties today threatened to launch a campaign here on December 10 against “its failure on several fronts”, including inability to bring back black money stashed abroad.

The Left parties would also sharpen their attack on the BJD government in Odisha over corruption and multi-crore chit fund scam being investigated by the CBI, leaders of CPI, CPI-M, Forward Bloc, SUCI and CPI (ML) Liberation told reporters here.

Though BJP and Narendra Modi had announced that black money would be brought back within 100 days of coming to power, now the Centre is backtracking from its promise, the Left party leaders said. (PTI)

Pollution in Delhi

National Green Tribunal(NGT) has ordered that all the vehicles, including buses, cars, autorikshas etc.  which are older than 15 years should not ply and would be off the roads in Delhi. The order has been issued by the NGT to reduce the high level of pollution in Delhi.

It is estimated that there are about 29 lakhs vehicles which are more than 15 years old plying in the Delhi roads. As per the orders all these vehicles will be off the roads.

Hope this will reduce the pollution level at least to a certain extent.

Untouchability still highly prevalent in India – A sad commentary on Indian Democracy

Untouchability

The sad truth has once again been confirmed. In the secular democratic republic of India, untouchability is still being practiced by about 25% of the population. it means that about 30 crores of people are still accepting this worst practice against humanity. This is based on the joint report of the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) and Mary Land University of USA.

The situation varies from states to states. The untouchability is being practiced maximum   in the Hindi belt. Madhya Pradesh tops the states with 53%, followed by Himachal Pradesh (50%), Chhattisgarh (48%), Rajasthan and Bihar (47%), U.P.(43%) and Utharakhand (40%).

While in India , the average is 25%, in Kerala it is only 2%. Kerala has the least number of people practicing untouchability. But even that is too much to be tolerated.

What the Modi government will do to improve the situation? Will it take any action at all to remove the same? Will the Party which follows the Manu guidelines on caste (Manusmriti) take any action at all ?

It is not the government alone, but the entire people should take this as a challenge and remove this black blot on the face of the Indian Republic.

Around 13,000 wage slaves in UK ; How much in India?

India, slaves inUK

The U.K. Home Office has stated that there are up to 13,000 people working as slaves in U.K. This is based on the assessment of the Police, UK Border Force, Charities and the Gang Masters of Licencing Authority.

The slavery victims include women forced to Prostitution, domestic staff, workers in the fields, factories and fishing boats etc. More of the slave victims are from other countries like Albania, Nigeria, Romania etc. trafficked in to UK.

In UK, as stated above, there are about 13,000 slaves? What is the number of such slaves in India? If the above criterion is taken, the slaves in India will run into crores.Whether the government has any idea about how much it will be ?

Earlier, the foreign invaders kept Indians as slaves. But now the Indian rulers, themselves, are keeping other Indians as slaves. This has to be changed. Nobody should be slaves. All should be free citizens, not only to cast vote, but also financially free.

Oil Prices

The NDA government deregulated the oil prices and stated that the prices will be based on the international prices. Now the international prices have come down continuously. But the government has not brought down the prices as per the international rates.  This is nothing but cheating the people.

The Government should immediately bring down the oil prices.

5.5 lakh Schools have no electricity, 2.03 lakh Schools have no Toilets after 67 years of Independence

no electricity, no toilets, Schools

HRD Minister Smt. Smriti Irani has stated in the Parliament on 26th November 2014 that ” 2.03 lakh government Schools lack toilet facilities, 54,533 have do not have drinking water and 5.57 lakh do not have electricity connection”.

The number might be much more, since many state governments may not be giving the correct picture to justify themselves.

It is more than 67 years after India got Independence from the British. But even after 67 years, this is the pitiable condition of the government schools where our future generation have to educate themselves. It is no surprise that many people who want their children to study in government schools are compelled to send them to private schools, paying hefty fees and incurring other extra expenditure. Many governments are purposely neglecting their own schools, delaying funds and not equipping them with even minimum requirements. It is, in fact, helping the private schools in this way. The Congress/UPA and BJP/NDA governments, which ruled the country for all these years, should be made to answer for the neglect of the government schools.

The latest news is the statement the Minister of State, HRD, Shri Upendra Kushwaha that there are vacancies of 7,556 posts of teachers unfilled in the 1,102 Kendriya vidyalayas in the country.

Shame to the Government! What are you doing for the lakhs of children, the future citizens of  the country, who want to study and learn!  Is there no ‘Achha Din’ fir the future generations?

Publish the List of Black Money Accounts, Mr. Jaitley!

black money, corruption

The Finance Minister Shri Arun Jaitley has stated in the Parliament that it has tracked down 427 foreign accounts in HSBC in  Geneva and that 250 account holders out of them have admitted that they have accounts. Well!

What is the need of keeping these account holders name secret? Is it to give time to them to withdraw the amount and put it in some other foreign banks? Or is it to give them time to shift themselves to other countries so that they can escape?

As Finance Minister, Mr. Arun Jaitley should immediately publish the name of the holders of black money accounts and expose them before the public. These are not ordinary or common people, but who have made illegal money. Bring them to  justice!

MGNREGA

New Delhi, November 26: It is rare when a Chief Minister stages a sit-in protest in Delhi. But Delhi’s Jantar Mantar witnessed this rare spectacle when the Tripura Chief Minister, Manik Sarkar led thousands of people from various states and sat on a dharna today. The CPI(M) Polit Bureau member was joined by General Secretary Prakash Karat and other members of the Polit Bureau and the Central Committee in initiating an agitation against the Modi government’s moves to curtail and restrict the implementation of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act to 200 most backward districts in the country. The protest in Delhi was part of the call given by the CPI(M) for a countrywide protest on the issue. (Ganashakti)

Rajya Sabha Extends Two Weeks Time for Select Committee on Insurance Bill to submit Report

Extension, Insurance (amendment) bill

In Rajya Sabha today, the Select Committee on amending the Insurance Act to raise foreign investment cap to 49 per cent was given two more weeks till December 12 to submit its report.  The Select Committee headed by BJP’s Chandan Mitra was to submit the report by November 28.

There is sharp difference in the Select Committee as also among the political parties on the Amendment to the Insurance Act Bill, which is sent to the Select Committee. The procedural flaws in extending the time was also questioned by the opposition parties.
