Corruptions charges, Parliament.

Monsoon Session of the Parliament has been adjourned sine-die, without much work done. The NDA government is fully responsible for the wash-out, since it is because of its adamant and arrogant stand that no action will be taken against the the Cabinet Minister and two state Chief ministers involved in the alleged Lalit Modi issue and also Vyapam issue. The party which strongly protested against the corruption of Ministers in the UPA ministry, is trying to rescue its own ministers who are involved in scams.

Fidel Castro completes 89 years! Greetings to the Revolutionary who changed Cuban History.

Cuba, Fidel Castro

Today, 13th August 2015, is the 90th Birth Day of the Revolutionary leader Fidel Castro, who created a new history for the Cuban people.

On his 90th birthday, the Communist leader has demanded the US government that it should refund Cuba for the loss   of millions and millions of dollars Cuba had to suffer because of the US trade embargo which was imposed about six decades back. This is a fully justified demand of the Cuban people.

In the same way, it is time for India to demand Britain for the return of the thousands and thousands of valuable books, antiques, historical artifacts, precious stones, gold etc. including the Kohinoor Diamond to be returned to India, which is the real owner. Will Shri Narendra Modi, Prime Minister, take courage to raise the demand in his Independence Day Speech at Red Fort on  15th August 2015?

Robot kills worker

It has been reported in the press that a robot installed in the SKH Metals, Manesar, Gurgaon, has killed a worker, Ramji Lal(24) while the worker was doing some work near the robot. Now robots are being employed in many factories not only in foreign countries, but in India also.

Such an accident happened in the Volkswagen company in Germany, a few months back. The worker was killed when he was adjusting the machine.

Worker is always the casualty, whether industrialisation, robatisation  or  modernisation.

VRS for BSNL and MTNL Employees ?

13 Thursday Aug 2015

BSNL, VRS

It seems that certain manias of government never end. It is now about Voluntary Retirement Scheme in BSNL and MTNL. While VRS was implemented thrice in MTNL, the staff unions in BSNL strongly opposed it and never allowed VRS to take place in the company. Every time, the government had to go back on the scheme due to the mighty opposition and struggles of the unions under the leadership of the Forum, the umbrella organisation.

Once again, the central government, now NDA is taking the old proposal from its store. The proposal as per press reports  target  about 70,000 – 1,00,000 employees in BSNL. We have told and proved with examples in other PSUs, that VRS always have been bad for the service and the PSU itself. But a government, which is pro-private and is not interested in the growth of PSU,  may again try to implement VRS, making it a CRS (Compulsory Retirement Scheme).

The government is to be told emphatically, that the BSNL employees and their unions will never allow any  VRS in BSNL which is against the interest of the workers, the service and the country itself.

Construction workers, ESI

The Employees State Insurance Corporation ha decided to extend the health  benefits to the lakhs of construction workers.

“The Employee State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) has approved extending benefits of the ESI scheme to workers deployed on construction sites from August 1, 2015,” said an official of the ESI.

This is certainly a welcome step. It is not understood why the benefit was not extended earlier?

“Why do you bring more trains, when you can not protect the lives”? – SC

Railway Accidents

“Why do you bring more trains, when you can not protect the lives”?

The above question raised by the Supreme Court to the central government and department of railways is in time and most appropriate. Almost every week, report of train accidents and deaths are reported, either due to technical reasons or human error. The safety of the passengers are not given the priority that should be. As stated in this blog earlier, the modernisation and update of the tracks, regular check up, appointment of regular staff etc. are some of the issues immediately to be attended to, with sufficient funds from the government. The government should act without delay.

Mysuru – Cleanest City in the Country, Bengaluru the cleanest state Capital

Clean cities in India, Mysuru

Karnataka state has got the first position both with regard to the cleanest city in the country, out of 476  cities,  as also the cleanest state capital. Mysuru and Bengaluru are the cities respectively. It has also got two other cities, viz. Hassan and Mandya included in the first 10 cleanest cities. Congratulations for the people of Karnataka for this rare distinction.

The first ten cleanest cities include Tiruchirappally, (T.Nadu), Navi Mumbai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram(Kerala), Halisahar(W.Bengal) and Gangtok (Sikkim).

These rankings are based on the extent of open defecation and solid waste management practices in these cities.

But compared to the cities in UK, Europe etc. we are still far behind. We have yet to see whether the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan will have some major effect on the cleanliness in the nation. The old saying is ” Cleanliness is next to godliness”, which shows the importance given to cleanliness from those days. We can miss godliness, but not cleanliness.
