It is Good News! At last, BSNL has issued orders today, 15th September 2015 extending the upgradation of cities as per the 2011 Census to BSNL employees, which has already been implemented for the CG Employees. Accordingly Ahmedabad and Pune will now be ‘A’ / ‘X’ class cities and many other cities a ‘B’/’Y’ class cities with the HRA fixed at 30% and 20% respectively. The name of all these cities have been mentioned in the blog earlier.

Ahmedabad and Pune have been upgraded from ‘Y’ city to ‘X’ city. ‘X’ class city means having more than 50 lakh population and eligible for 30% HRA. ‘Y’ city means more than 5 lakh population and 20% HRA. ‘Z’ class means less than 5 lakh population and 10% HRA.

In the same order central govt employees were extended the benefits of higher order city on tour like Patna, Jabalpur etc. But BSNL has not issued the order of this effect.
It is worth remind you that the TA rates are due for revision since January 2012. We are getting the TA of the rates decided in 2002. It needs urgent revision…

Whatever is the government order on HRA, it is extended to the BSNL Employees also, both X category as well as Y category.
