Attacks, Delhi, NE

It is a shame on Delhi, the capital of India. Almost every day reports are coming about brutal attacks, abuse and molestation of the North East people in this capital city, where Indians from all part of the country are coming, staying and settled.

The Government should act strongly against such attacks. All citizens of the country should be treated as equal and no discrimination in any part of the country should be allowed. Not only the government, but the people also should oppose such discrimination.

CPI(M), Delhi, NE

New Delhi, Feb 12 : Condemning the attacks on the people of Northeast in Delhi, CPI(M) today sought drafting of an anti-racist law to curb discrimination and such violence.

Expressing concern over the growing attacks including the death of Arunachal student Nido Taniam and several incidents of rape, the party Politburo said, “There is no doubt that there is a racist bias in such attacks.”

“It is imperative that citizens from any part of the country are able to live in peace and harmony and pursue their work or studies in the capital of India without being subject to racist attacks,” it said.

Maintaining that all necessary measures need to be taken to ensure the safety and security of people from the Northeast in Delhi, the CPI(M) said the Centre should also consider drafting an anti-racist law to curb such discrimination and attacks. (Courtesy: Ganashakti)

NE is part of India, North-East people are Indians

Delhi, NE states

The recent attacks and sexual assaults on the North-East youngsters in Delhi is to be condemned in the strongest terms. One youngster was beaten to death, many girls were sexually assaulted. Two young people were thrashed yesterday causing grievous injury. There seems to be a racist factor also. Neither the government not its police is serious in catching and convicting the guilty.
India is one and the NE people have as much right as any other citizen anywhere in the country. delhi, the capital, is no exception. They have the right to study, bet jobs and live peacefully in Delhi also, as anywhere in the country. Anybody who infringes on this right is to be dealt with strongly.
The Central/Delhi Government as well as the citizens of Delhi should take responsibility to ensure the freedom and right to live of the NE people in Delhi.

Delhi, NE Boy

We strongly condemn the beating of a North-East boy to death by some shop owners. It is stated that even after the police made a compromise between the students and traders, the latter attacked the boy again which resulted in death of the youngster. There also seems to be some racial antagonism also.
There should be zero tolerance to such goondaism. The government and the Delhi Police should take immediate action to arrest all the culprits and proceed against them.
India is a country of many states, religion, caste and creed. Everybody has got a right to live anywhere in India.

Rajasthan also scraps FDI in multiple retail.

Delhi, FDI in retail, Rajasthan

Rajasthan became the second state to scrap the FDI decision in multiple-brand retail taken by the former Congress government. Delhi state government of AAP has already scrapped the FDI in multiple retail, immediately after it took over the reins.
The Rajasthan Government has written to Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma in this matter.
Anand Sharma, immediately after the Kejriwal Govt. has decided to scrap FDI has stated that the state government can not alter a decision taken earlier allowing FDI. Now that two states have scrapped FDI, it will have to be seen what decision the UPA government takes.
Though majority of the parties had opposed 51% FDI in multiple brand retail, the UPA government managed to get it passed in the Parliament. Now two state governments viz. Delhi ruled by AAP and Rajasthan ruled by BJP have scrapped the decision of the former congress governments. It is sure that more states may follow suit as it is well known that the retail merchants are strongly opposed to FDI as it will adversely affect about 4 crore of families.
It is better for the Central government to allow the state governments to take their own decision.

Delhi: Anti-Corruption Helpline gets thousands of calls

Anti-Corruption Helpline, Complaints, Delhi

The reports in the media state that the Anti-Corruption Helpline started by the AAP Government in Delhi has received 4,000 calls in the first 7 hours.
It shows that the people have started reporting corruption complaints with out fear. But it seems that all the complaints received are not of corruption but also other complaints.
More important is not the number of complaints that is received, but it is the number of complaints on which action is immediately taken and the culprits booked.
Being the capital of the country and the power centre, corruption is at the highest in Delhi. People are faced with corruption and favouritism every where. If the AAP move can at least reduce it, it will be a great relief to the common people.

AAP, Delhi, formation of government

AAP is all ready to form the government on the basis of the good response it got from the public meetings conducted during the last one week. Who will be the Chief Minister? Kejriwal or somebody else? It is yet to be decided, it seems.

AAP to form Government in Delhi?

AAP, Delhi, formation of govt.

The latest developments indicate that the Aam Aadmi Party may take a decision to form the Government in Delhi by next week. Party spoke person had already stated that AAP was getting lot of pressure from people to form the government.
The scenario is interesting. Congress was thinking that even if it gives support to AAP, the latter will not form the government, since it had already declared earlier that it will not form the government. The support offered was to trap AAP. If it does not form Govt. Congress can accuse it of shirking responsibility. What Congress will do now, if AAP decides to form the government? If AAP forms the government, it will start inquiries in the corruption cases of the Congress regime, which will hurt the Congress dearly. If AAP does not form the government and election takes place, the condition of Congress will be more pitiable. A Catch-22 situation.
BJP will be happy if AAP forms government. It can take advantage as the main opposition party and criticise the AAP government, while continuing with the 32 MLAs and the consequent benefit.
Any way, the decision of the AAP may come by Monday. Let us wait for the same.
