The BSNL Non-Permanent Workers in Belgaum is on the struggle path. After sustained struggle earlier, they were given minimum wage as per orders. But later all of the 284 employees were victimised and sent out stating that there is no work. no new tenders were also not floated. The Management and contractor were taking revenge upon the poor workers whose only crime was that they demanded that their full wages be paid to them ending the exploitation.
The Union started agitation against retrenchment. They started indefinite dharna after giving due notice. The Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner intervened and in the meeting held on, 19-02-2014 the issue was discussed. On the advice of the Dy.CLC, the dharna was deferred. The next meeting of conciliation will be held on 25-03-2014. We demand the management to settle the issue amicably by reinstating all the retrenched workers, who have been serving BSNL for a long period.

UPA Government for conciliation with Vodafone

conciliation, tax, Vodafone

The government has decided for conciliation on the issue of Income Tax of Rs. 14,000 to be paid by Vodafone. The Income Tax department has levied the tax considering all  rules and regulations. But the government has succumbed to the pressure of the MNC and has now decided for conciliation. In a conciliation, it is clear that the tax will be drastically reduced and the government will be at heavy loss.

When MNCs and big corporates are involved, the government is always there to help them, even if it loses revenue. But if it is in the case of the workers or the common people, there will be no relaxation and kindness. Decisions and policies of the government, one after another, expose its pro-rich and anti-people attitude.
