Deputy CLC, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, directs CMD BSNL to pay wages to the contract workers.
The Deputy Chief Labour Commissioner of Tamil Nadu & Puducherry has written to the CMD BSNL, yesterday the April 10, 2020. In it’s letter, the Deputy CLC has referred to the complaint received from TNTCWU (Tamil Nadu Telecom Contract Workers Union), over the non-payment of wages. The Deputy CLC has stated that non-payment of wages during the curfew period violates the provisions of the “Disaster Management Act” and has directed to sort out the issue immediately. The Chief Labour Commissioner (Central) has issued Gazette Notification on 19th January 2017 fixing the minimum wage for the contract workers with immediate effect. The lowest daily wage for unskilled labour in C class city is Rs. 350/. The daily wage will increase for A and B class cities as also for Semi-Skilled, Skilled and Highly skilled. Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri, President BSNLCCWF today met Smt. Sujata Ray, Director (HR) and Shri Ashuthosh Gupta, Director(Restructuring), Corporate Office and pressed early implementation of the same to the contract workers in BSNL. Both agreed to issue the orders early.

Comrades V.A.N.Namboodiri, President and Animesh Mitra, Secretary General, BSNLCCWF met the Chief Labour Commissioner Shri Anil Kumar Nayak today, 27th October 2016, and presented  the issues of the casual and contract Labour in BSNL. The  representatives of the Federation brought to the notice of the CLC that neither minimum wages are being paid, nor EPF and ESI  implemented in many places, despite clear government and CMD BSNL orders in this respect. CLC stated that he had issued instructions to the State labour commissioners in this respect earlier and will also send a reminder to ensure that the labor laws are got implemented. The case of implementing the Group D pay scales for the casual labour was also pointed out. . The representatives submitted their memorandum on the Gazette Notification on Minimum wage which proposed Rs. 350 per day. BSNLCCWF demanded Rs.650 per day and also upgradation of categories considering the number of years etc. CLC gave a patient hearing to the representatives.

The conciliation meeting called by the Chief Labour Commissioner on the strike notices issued by the Forum of BSNL Unions / Associations and BSNL Casual and Contract Workers Federation for 21-22 April, will be held today at 03.00 PM today. 09-04-2015. The General Secretaries of the unions/associations with Forum as also leaders of BSNLCCWF will attend the meeting.

The Conciliation Meeting on the issues of MTNL including the Pension issues called by the Chief Labour Commissioner will be held at 1100 hours on 3rd December 2013 at Shram Shakti Bhawan, New Delhi. On the issues, Com. VAN Namboodiri held discussions with Coms. Kaushik and Mangeram , leaders of the United Forum of MTNL Unions.

The Chief Labour Commissioner has called both the Forum and the BSNL Management for conciliation on 29th August 2013 on the demands raised by the Forum on the proposed strike of 12th June ( which was withdrawn after settlement with management). The meeting will take place at 11.00 AM at Shram Shakti Bhawan.
