Against the non-implementation and violation of the Strike agreement made between the Circle management and BSNLCCWF, BSNLEU and SNEA, all the three unions have started Non-Cooperation from 12th August 2014.

The violation of the agreement seems to be a deliberate attempt to provoke the workers and make them go on further agitation, so that the charges against the management for  its inefficiency can be shelved and also the private telecom companies can benefit.

Will the PM announce OROP on Independence Day?

The moot question now is whether PM Narendra Modi will announce the ‘One Rank One Pension’ on the Independence Day?
The retired Defence personnel have been demanding  this for the last many years. The Satyagraha by them at Delhi will complete 60 days by this Independence Day.
Govt. had given assurances many times, but not honoured so far. It is a great injustice to the sentinels of the nation.
Mr.PM, announce ‘OROP’ on ID! Do not continue the injustice!

Have you started the Post Card Campaign ? If not, start it immediately.

The Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations has taken a very appropriate decision to send a post card by each and every employee addressed to Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad, Communications Minister, demanding immediate steps for the revival of BSNL. It was only due to the anti-BSNL decisions and policy of both the UPA and NDA Governments that BSNL has started posting loss for the last few years and the service has gone down. It is the responsibility of the government to restore it to its glorious past. The employees under the leadership of Forum are taking every step to ensure financial viability of BSNL and better service to the customers. Due to this, the service has improved and the losses are marginally coming down for the last two years. But it is only through support from the government the process could be expedited.

Communications Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad continuously declares that he will not allow BSNL and MTNL to die and that the government will give all assistance to BSNL and MTNL.  Words have to be followed by action, which is missing. Leave alone liberal assistance, even what is due to BSNL is not being paid. Rs. 1,250 crore which is due to BSNL in lieu of ADC for 2012-13, though approved, is yet to be paid. Rs. 4,460 crore, the balance of refund of the spectrum ( after adjusting Rs. 2,000 crore towards Licence Fee) is yet to be paid. Only Rs. 169.16 crore alone is approved by the Cabinet, recently. Great injustice is being done towards BSNL by the government.

The employees also are very much agitated that the Communications Minister, since he has taken over charge, has not met the Forum leaders even once, despite several requests, even after the strike Notice was served.

It is in this context that the Forum has decided to organise the Post Card Campaign from 10th to 22nd August 2015, by sending Post Cards to the Minister demanding immediate action for the revival of BSNL. Each and every employee, whether executive or non-executive, should write with his signature and address and post the same during this period of 13 days.

It may not be out of place to mention one thing. Unless the decision is completely implemented, the full power of the unions / associations can not be shown to the Government. The SSA/Branch Secretaries should ensure that the Post Card is sent by each and every employee. In the case of those on leave also, the same should be ensured. The CHQs of the unions/ associations need to be informed about the number of post cards dispatched, so that the exact number could be ascertained. This is part of the organisational activity, which every member has a responsibility to implement.

The Campaign is for the defence of the BSNL and its workers. It is for a better service to the customers. Each and every employee should be part of this campaign for the Revival of BSNL.

Bhopal AIC – OPG defeated, Moni Bose elected as GS, E.III Union

The polling continued for many hours. With more than thirty names in the ballot paper, it was not easy for the delegates to tick the names they supported and to vote. Smaller circles could complete the voting earlier, but it took much more time for the big circles. It took many hours to count the ballots which almost continued for a good portion of the night also.

When the results started coming from the circles one by one, delegates looked up unbelievingly. It became almost sure that OPG, General Secretary, was going to be defeated. Frantic efforts were made by the group to stop announcement of the results by raising untenable objections.

Homi Daji, President and Presiding Officer, was pressurized not to announce results. But he stood firm and did not want to be seen as taking a wrong position in front of thousands of delegates. There was pin drop silence, when the President announced that he was going to declare the results.

The results were announced for the posts one after another with the number of votes received. V.A.N.Namboodiri was declared elected as President and Moni Bose as General Secretary with good majority. Out of 15 posts of office-bearers, OPG group got only 4 posts, that too with very thin majority.

The following were declared elected from Moni Bose panel:

President                                 : Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri

Vice-Presidents                       : Com.A.K.Saramma

General Secretary                  :Com.Moni Bose

Asst. General Secretaries       :Com.M.N.Reddy

:Com.S.R.Nayak

Coms. N.T.Sajwani, N.Y.Lokhande(Vice-Presidents), R.K.Kohli and S.Jagannathan(Asst. General Secretaries) got elected from OPG’s panel.

The election to the posts of Federal Councilors to NFTE was also conducted. Out of 35 posts, a good majority were elected from Moni Bose’s panel. The list of the elected Federal Councilors is given below:

OPG accepts the results

Though shocked and reluctant at first, O.P.Gupta out-going General Secretary, accepted defeat and assured full co-operation to the new team. The AIC ended amidst slogans welcoming and congratulating the newly elected office-bearers.

Thus the Bhopal AIC ended with a change of team. The old reformist leadership was defeated and a new set of office-bearers with V.A.N.Namboodiri as President and Moni Bose as General Secretary were elected to the leadership of the biggest union in telecom. (to be continued).
