French Workers protest against anti-worker labour reforms.

Paris, Sep 21 : Unions staged new protests Thursday against an overhaul of France’s labour laws, hoping to build pressure on President Emmanuel Macron days before his flagship reforms are expected to enter into force.
The marches and strikes come a week after hundreds of thousands of people — 200,000 according to police, half a million according to organisers — demonstrated against the measures in the first major challenge to Macron since he was elected in May.

More rallies are expected Saturday, staged by hard-left political party France Unbowed, which will provide another measure of the resistance to 39-year-old Macron’s pro-business agenda.

The Communist-backed CGT union has organised Thursday’s protests and its secretary general, former car worker Philippe Martinez, called the first round last Tuesday “a good start”.

“What’s important today and in the days and weeks ahead is that the movement gets bigger,” Martinez added. (Courtesy: Press Reports)

POLIT BUREAU STRONGLY CONDEMNS THE US THREAT TO
EXTERMINATE DEMOCRATIC PEOPLE’S REPUBLIC OF KOREA
2017-09-2107

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the US threat to exterminate Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (North Korea). President Donald Trump thundered, in his address to the UN General Assembly, that he would “totally destroy” North Korea. USA is the only country in the world that had used atomic weapons to destroy Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This designed destruction by the USA, killing and agonizing hundreds of thousands of people, was executed after Hitler’s fascist army surrendered ending World War II.  USA embarked on this destruction not to end World Ward-II but to start the ‘Cold War’ to establish its global hegemony. Post World War–II the USA, militarily intervened in Korea under its Slogan of “global war against Communism”. During the Korean War, the USA bombed various North Korean cities causing deaths of tens of thousands of civilians. USA ensured the division of the Korean Peninsula.

Donald Trump heaped invectives against Iran and Venezuela using phrases like “loser terrorist” and “murderous regime” etc.  He is, thus, defining USA’s new “axis of evil”

The USA, given its track record, has no right to issue such threats. This is an open threat to the sovereignty of independent countries. This cannot be accepted and must be rejected.

The solution to the issues posed by North Korea should be resolved by the group of six comprising – USA, China, Russia, Japan, South Korea and North Korea by holding talks.

III PRC approved with 15% Fitment by BSNL Management Committee

Tags

,

It is understood that the BSNL Management Committee has approved the proposal of 3rd Pay Revision Committee with full 15% fitment for the executives w.e.f 01.01.2017. However this will have to be approved by the full BSNL Board with DOT Director/s.

In the above case, the Management should start wage negotiation immediately with the recognised unions of the non-executives in BSNL. As for the BSNL absorbed DOT Pensioners, the government should take necessary action to implement wage revision with 15% fitment, since the pension is to be paid by the government itself. Pensioners are senior citizens and their case needs immediate attention.

Neo-Liberal Policy or Capitalistic Corporate Policy?

There is a need to change the name “neo-liberal policy”, which is usually used to indicate the government policy being implemented for the last 26-27 years in India and out side. This is neither new nor liberal policy. It is a policy of the government to implement the imperialist, capitalist
designs intended to favour the multi national companies and corporations to increase their profit.

Hence it is fully justified to rename the policy as ” Capitalist Corporate Policy” or some similar word, which will expose the real meaning of the present policy.

National Workshop by CTUs on Wage Revision in Central PSUs.

One day National Workshop will be organised by the Central Trade Unions on 22nd October 2017 at Hyderabad on the issue of wage revision for PSU employees. This is in view of the adverse recommendations of the III Pay Revision Committee for Executives in central PSUs, which directed that only employees in profitable PSUs will get wage revision. This is an attack on the executives and non-executives in the PSUs.

We congratulate the CTUs for taking the decision and holding the Convention!

Government threatens CG Employees with dire consequences for organising dharna

,

The Central Government has threatened the CG employees for calling for organising dharna in front of offices by the Confederation of CG employees on their major demands. As per letter dated 19th September 2017, the government has stated that severe action as per CCS (Conduct Rules), 1964 will be taken against the employees who participate in the dharna.

The true colour of the Modi Government is exposed. Despite the CCS(Conduct) Rules in 1964, the employees have gone on agitations and strike many times. ESMO has been passed, but the CG employees went on strike on 19th September 1968. Jail, arrest, victimisation – all they faced and still went on strike. The threat of the government has been met squarely by the unions and employees. The government has issued the threatening letter on the 49th anniversary of the 1968 strike is to be noted.

The Strike and agitations are the rights of the workers won through sustained struggles. The workers are not prepared to surrender these rights. Com.M.Krishnan, Secretary General of the Confederation, has rightly taken the challenge and stated that the workers will never surrender their right to strike and agitate and will continue in the path of struggle, whatever be the consequences. Congratulations to the Confederation leadership!

Tripura set up Family Welfare Dist. Committees – first in the country

Tripura has become the first state in the country to set up family welfare district committees to examine the complaints of women against their husbands and in-laws and find an amicable solution, Chief Justice T Vaiphei has said.

“The committees would examine the complaints of any woman against her husband, in-laws and relatives of the husband and try to find an amicable solution through negotiation,” he said.

Vaiphei said that Tripura High Court is the first high court among 24 high courts of the country that has constituted the family welfare district committees.

Tripura High Court Judge Subhashish Talapatra said, in the Rajesh Sharma versus state of Uttar Pradesh case, the Supreme Court on July 27 directed that each complaint of cruelty to a woman by her husband or his relatives, which does not involve tangible physical injuries or death, shall be referred to the family welfare committee of the district. 19th September 1968 Strike Anniversary observed.

Many comrades had contacted and intimated about the observance of the 49th anniversary of the historic strike of 19th September 1968. Thanks to all of them.

I also attended two such programmes today. In the morning hoisted the red flag of BSNLEU in the Telephone Exchange, Mananchira, Kozhikode and addressed the workers assembled there. In brief, I spoke about the martyrs of 1968 strike, the heroic action of the workers and the need to fight the anti-worker policies of the government.

In the evening attended the Convention held at Vatakara organised by BSNLEU, NFPE, AIBDPA, AIPRPA and CCLU. There were a good number of comrades assembled. I inaugurated the Convention and spoke about the details of the Strike, the suffering of the victimised workers, the martyrs and their sacrifices and the responsibility upon us in the present circumstances. Many other leaders also addressed.

We will always remember the great historic strike.
