Life is sometimes short…

16 Wednesday Aug 2017

Life is sometimes short for some people. But yet many of them leave us after great service to humanity. Jesus Christ, Bhagat Singh, Sankaracharya etc.  are a  few of  them.

If they can do this in a short time more could be done in double or triple of that time.

Effort and determination is the basis of their lives.

the 70th anniversary of Independence Day was observed all over the country with enthusiasm and with full participation. In addition to the programmes at the All India and State level organised by the government lakhs of various programmes were organised on that day by political, cultural, sports, trade union organisations, including libraries, peoples movements etc.

I am happy that I could participate in two such programmes at Kozhikode, one a residential association programme and another at a Library and addressed.

70th Anniversary of Independence

14 Monday Aug 2017

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

On this 15th of August, India has completed 70 years of its existence as Free India. It was after great and sustained struggles by the Indian people under the leadership of Mahatma Gandhi and many other veteran leaders that India got independence from the British colonialists on 15th August 1947. India became a sovereign secular democratic Republic on 26th January 1950, after the adoption of the Constitution of India, the main architect of which was Dr. B.R.Ambedkar. The first Prime Minister of Independent India was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who led to the country with the slogan of ‘socialist pattern of society’.

Congress ruled the country for many years and now it is the BJP government. But even after 70 years, poverty was not eradicated. About 30 % of the people are still below the poverty line as could be seen from the very many statistics of the government itself. The rich has become richer and the poor, the poorer. Difference in income is increasing every day creating wide disparity. Illiteracy continues and young children are working to eke out a livelihood, instead of attending the schools.

While celebrating the 70th anniversary of the Independence day, let us pledge to take all out efforts to make the country progress in to a secular, democratic republic as envisaged by the great freedom fighters!

Warm Greetings to all friends, comrades and best wishers on the eve of the 71st Independence Day!

OCTOBER 1, 2017 – INTERNATIONAL DAY OF STRUGGLE FOR THE RIGHTS OF PENSIONERS – TUI (P and R)

13 Sunday Aug 2017

I am giving below the call of TUI (P and R), WFTU, for organising October 2017 as Pensioners International Day.

Invitation Trade Union International
Pensioners and Retirees of the FSM

OCTOBER 1, 2017 – INTERNATIONAL DAY OF STRUGGLE FOR THE RIGHTS OF PENSIONERS

Capitalism is pushing new anti workers working class action against pensioners, and people. Solutions using government-administrators are temporary and weak, with no prospect or positive outlet for those whose work produce wealth in society and only give benefit to a handful of capitalists who gather in huge measure, the fruits of exploitation.

The measures taken by the leaders of capitalist development, with competition among capitalists as a motor, require new sacrifices from the working class, pensioners and the people, increased exploitation, and to end all rights remain. Greater limitation and abolition of public social security for the benefit of private, cancellation of collective agreements and extra payments to pensioners; plus a further reduction in costs for health, medicine, and social benefits.

All this complemented with new concessions to big capital through privatization of major sectors of the economy, energy, transport, water, natural resources, and new tax exemptions.

On behalf of capitalist competitiveness, pensioners and retirees worldwide worsening live your life and the lives of their children. Their pensions are cut, reduce health benefits and privatize, social structures dissolve, their rights are restricted in general.

To achieve these objectives own capital does not hesitate to resort to bloody conflicts and wars around the world, which violently appropriates wealth of many people on the planet.

We call to action, all our organizations and partner organizations, for next October 1, International Day of pensioners, with claims that correspond to our real needs, from the perspective of our struggle a society without exploitation, poverty, wars or calamities. Struggles do with unity and common action with the working class, the people and all those who suffer from capitalist exploitation.

We fought that way: For a free, public social security, health care and pharmaceutical care for all, without conditions or requirements. Let’s claim the right to public and adequate pension, reducing the age limits for men and for women earlier. Pensions that meet our current needs, so we can live a dignified life. For social benefits, housing, clean and right to leisure, public, free and quality water.

WE ARE NOT AGREE WITH THE CRUMBS BURSTING capitalist barbarity.

STRUGGLE FOR LIFE AND CONQUER THE FUTURE IN A SOCIETY WITHOUT EXPLOITATION IN BASE TO RICHES TO PRODUCE.

VIVA INTERNATIONAL SOLIDARITY

LONG LIVE THE DAY OF STRUGGLE OCTOBER 1!

Lakhs of workers from all parts of the country will be sitting on Maha Dharna for 3 days from 9th to 11th November 2017 in Delhi against the anti-people, anti-worker policies of the Central Government and on the major demands of the people and the working class. An Indefinite strike will follow, the date of which will be decided later. These are the main declarations of the massive convention of workers held at New  Delhi on 8th August, as per the call of the Central Trade Unions.

The Workers Convention was presided over by K.Hemalatha (CITU), Ashok Singh (INTUC), Ramendra Kumar (ATUC), S.N.Pathak (HMS), Sathyawan Singh (AIIUTUC), Latha (SEWA), Uday Bhatt (AICCTU), V.Subburamn (LPF) and Shatrujih Singh (UTUC).

The Convention was addressed and guidelines given by Tapan Sen (CITU), Amarjit Kaur (AITUC), Sanjeeva Reddy (INTUC),Harbhajan Singh (HMS),Shankar Saha (AIUTUC), Manali (SEWA), Rajeev Dimri (AICCTU), M.Shanmukhan (LPF) and N.K.Premachandran (UTUC).

All central trade unions, except BMS, participated in the convention. After BJP  government has come in to power, BMS has been keeping away from the common programmes, for reasons well known to them.

In addition to the central trade unions, confederations/federations/unions/associations of workers from various sectors like Central/state governments, public sector, private sector etc. participated. The Talkatora Stadium where the convention was held was overflowing with delegates and hundreds had to stand outside the stadium.

Massive propaganda is to be organised well before the Maha Dharna at New Delhi in all centres jointly by the trade unions. It will really be a storming of the India’s capital city, Delhi.

Workers Convention

The Central Trade Unions are organising a National Convention of Workers at New Delhi on 8th August 2017 to discuss and decide about  action programmes on the major and pressing demands of the Indian working class. The BJP government continues its attack on the people and the workers in the country. Genuine and long pending demands are rejected. Public sector units are either closed, sold or disinvested. The national assets are handed over to the corporates as gift.

The CTUs have been oranising struggles since 1991 against the neo-liberal policies being implemented by the continued governments, whether led by Congress or BJP. In the last strike on 2nd September 2016, more than 18 crore workers participated.

The Convention is expected to be attended by thousands of workers representing the National Trade Union centres as also Federations of central/state government, telecom, banks, construction, Insurance etc.

Workers all over the country are waiting for the decision and action programmes.

The conspiracy of the US imperialists and the anti-left in Venezuela has been defeated by the people. They participated in the election in large numbers supporting President Nicolas Maduro ignoring the call of the anti-left opposition to boycott the election.

Many Latin American nations like Cuba, Nicaragua, El Salvador, Mexico etc. congratulated the Venezuelan people in their victory.
