AAP seeks opinion of people on forming of Government in Delhi

AAP, Delhi government

What is happening in Delhi in interesting and unheard for earlier. First, a party which has been formed about one year back only, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), got about 30% votes and 28 seats out of 60. The BJP which got about 31% votes could not majority seats to form the government. The Congress which was ruling Delhi for the last 15 years was almost demolished with only 8 seats and even its Chief Minister utterly defeated.
BJP, though invited to form the government could not form it due to having not sufficient numbers. Now Congress furnished a letter to the Governor offering unconditional support to AAP, to put the latter in a dilemma and criticise it. If AAP accepted, the Congress will withdraw its support when it wants. If AAP does not form the government, then it can criticise AAP failing to take responsibility. AAP counteracted putting 18 issues on which it sought the support of both Congress and BJP, if they want AAP to form government. BJP did not reply. Congress replied stating that 16 out of 18 issues can be decided administratively and there is no need for taking it to assembly. This was also a trap.
Now, in its own way, AAP has decided to seek the opinion of the electorate whether it should take the responsibility of forming the government. Lakhs of e-mail and letters to the voters are being sent to get their opinion, after which the party will takes its decision by 23rd. December.
These are all unexpected developments. AAP is creating a history of sorts. Let us see the developments unfolding in the coming few days.

UPA-II the Most Corrupt Government – Prakash Karat

CPI(M), defeat it, Most Corrupt, UPA

Agartala, Dec 15 : The UPA government is the most
corrupt government ever formed at the Centre post-
Independence, CPI-M general secretary Prakash Karat today
said, holding its liberal economic policy as the springboard
of all corrupt deals in the country.
Emphasising that the government needs to be ousted at “any
cost”, Karat told a rally at the end of the party’s
three-day Central Committee meeting here that the liberal
economic policy pursued by the central government constituted
an attack on the livelihood of the toiling masses.
Karat said an analysis of the just-concluded Assembly
lection in five states showed that Congress has been rejected
by the masses for rampant corruption and price rise.
Taking advantage of the situation, communal forces like
BJP were trying hard to come to power with the help of RSS,
the veteran Marxist leader observed.
“But we will not let BJP come to power. We will form a
secular non-Congress electoral alliance which will be able to
effectively resist BJP from assuming power in the next
parliamentary elections,” Karat said.
Sitaram Yechuri, another politburo member, while
underlining the need for removal of the corrupt government
from office said, “We must remember that we cannot just bring
BJP into power because the party, led by Narendra Modi, is
communal and will present an administration like that of
‘Dusshashan’ in Mahabharat.” (Courtesy: Ganashakti)

Delhi Gang Rape, one year over

It is one year after the Gang Rape of Delhi Girl which shook the consciousness of the country and saw massive protest demonstrations in Delhi and else where.
The culprits of the heinous crime has been awarded with death penalty, but the process of appeal etc. continues.
The government was shaken to the core due to the massive agitation and took some steps. But as per a paper report the atrocities against women has not stopped, it is doubled.
An all out fight and strong speedy action is required against atrocities on women and Girls.

CPI(M) against price rise

CPI(M) Central Committee Resolution against steep Price Rise

Price Rise and Callous Government

There has been no let up in the price rise for the common people. The overall retail inflation touched 11.24 per cent in November, the highest in the last nine months. The poorer sections are hit the worst by the unprecedented price rise in food items. Vegetable prices rose by 61.6 per cent in November from a year earlier. The prices of all other food items have also gone up steeply. The Manmohan Singh Government has set a new callous record in refusing to take steps to curb price rise. On the contrary, the government is promoting runaway increase in food prices by allowing speculation in the forward trading of essential commodities. The deregulation of petroleum pricing has also contributed to the inflationary spiral. Thus the UPA government is directly responsible for the price burden and suffering of the people. The Central Committee demanded the reversal of the policies which contribute to inflation and price rise.

Marriafe extravaganza, mockery of social justice

The extravaganza by super rich Indians has no limit. The recent marriage of the daughter of Pramod Mittal, brother of steel baron Lakshmi Vittal, is such a case. It is reported in Times of India that about Rs. 500 crore was spent for the marriage which was celebrated in Barcelona, Spain. The 3 day extravaganza was attended by celebrities all over the world. More than 200 cooks from India and other countries were brought to Barcelona for the function. The Wedding Cake was 60 kg.
Laxmi Mittal has spent more than Rs.300 crores for the marriage of his daughter recently.

Such extravaganza and waste of money to show case their wealth, power and influence is similar to that of emperors and king in the past. While on the one side millions and billions of people can not afford one square meal in a day, marriages, birthdays
parties and other functions of such extravaganza are being organised. This is nothing but a mockery of social justice.

Nelson Mandela, RIP

Nelson Mandela, the anti-apartheid icon, the legend in his own life-time and the first Black President of South Africa was laid to rest in the village Qunu, where he was born, on 15th December 2013, in the presence of a large number of people. This was as per his last will.

Such persons are rare in history and will be remembered for eternity. The life and struggles of Mandela, has not only influenced people of S.Africa and the African continent but the entire world.

Chile – Socialist Michelle Bachelet wins Presidentil election

Allende, Chile, Michael Bachelet, President, Socialist

Again the Socialists have won the Presidential election in Chile. Michelle Bachelet won the election with 62.2% votes. The rival candidate Conservative Evelyn Matthei, who got 37.8% of votes has conceded defeat and congratulated Bachelet.
Bachelet’s father was a top official in Chilean Air Force at the time of President Salvador Allende, who was toppled by a coup supported by the US and imperialists. Bachelet’s father was imprisoned and tortured and died consequently. In contrast, Matthei’s father was part of the junta which removed the Socialist Allende.
Michelle Bachelet was the President form 2006 to 2010 and as the same person can not be the President for the immediate next term, she could not contest and another socialist was the President.

Delhi Elections, hung assembly, President's rule

Since both the BJP and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has declared that they will not form the government since they do not have majority, Delhi state is going towards President’s Rule. It means that another election will have to be conducted in due time. Who will benefit from the fresh election will be a question mark.

The double speak of corporates, india inc

12 Thursday Dec 2013

CIL, Nokia, tax, Vodafone

The corporates are chameleons. They change their opinions completely when it suits them.
Take the example of the tax arrears of Vodafone, Nokia etc. to be paid to the government. These companies go to arbitration, court etc. for getting the tax due cancelled or at least reduced. And the government is sympathetically hearing them.
Now the Competition Commission of India has levied a fine of Rs. 1,773 crore on Coal India Limited for ‘abusing’ its dominant position in the market. Nothing of corruption or tax-evading.But the corporates, media controlled by them, are shouting together that CIL should pay the penalty and not to go to the legal remedy.
Why this double talk? The only reason is that Vodafone, Nokia etc. are MNCs and private companies. They should not be ‘harassed’ by tax etc. But Coal India Ltd. is a PSU.Hence it should obey all rules and should pay the penalty without any opposition!
