CBI, Coal scam, Manmohan Singh

It is reported that former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh may be examined by the CBI in connection with the coal scam case. During the UPA government period itself, almost all political parties demanded the same, but the CBI did not act.

Now there is a change of the government and the UPA is not in power, Dr. Manmohan Singh is going to be examined by the CBI.

It is clear now, how the CBI is being influenced by the government in power.

Obama visit, Protest

New Delhi, Jan 2: Leaders of six Left parties met today to chalk out agitational programmes during the upcoming visit of US President Barack Obama to protest the growing links between the Narendra Modi government and “imperialism”.

CPI(M), CPI, CPI(ML) Liberation, RSP, Forward Bloc and SUCI (Communist) decided in principle to stage protest actions during Obama’s visit, details of which would be chalked out later.
The intent of the protests is to focus people’s attention on the strategic relations between India and the US, including defence cooperation, with Washington trying to step up arms sales to New Delhi.
A few months ago, the six parties had decided to create a broad Left platform, involve more like-minded parties and groups, and launch joint movements to fight against neo- liberal policies, communalism and imperialism.

Subhas Chandra Bose

downloadThe demand of the Left Front Parties of W. Bengal that January 23, the birth day of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, be declared as “Desh Prem Diwas” is appropriate and should be appreciated. Subhas Chandra Bose was one of the top most leaders of the Indian freedom movement and was elected as President of the Indian National Congress twice.  The formation of the Indian National Army (INA) for liberating India and the heroic efforts are well documented.  He was born 23rd January 1897 and the death is still a mystery.

The Government of India has many files in connection with the last days of Subhas Chandra Bose. It was so far not made public since there were strong belief that Netaji is still alive. But now, that a long period has elapsed, it is necessary for the people to know what exactly happened after the airplane crash in 1945 in which Subhas Chandra Bose was also there.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose has to be honoured by declaring his Birth Day as “Desh Prem Diwas” and the mystery files declassified so that all the people will know the truth. The Government of W.Bengal and Centre should take immediate action in the matter.

Anniversary of Cuban Revolution

Revolutionary Greetings to the people of Socialist Cuba on the anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution, which falls on 1st January!

Yes, it was 55 years back on 1st January 1959 that the Guerrilla group led by Fidel Castro declared the victory of the Cuban Revolution after  the dictator Batista was defeated and ran way. Cuba has not looked back after that. Despite all machinations of the US and other imperialist countries to kill Socialist Cuba, it still remains and is able to improve the condition of its people. Cuba survived the inhuman economic blockade also.

It is the victory of Socialist Cuba that the US had to come down and the diplomatic relations are going to restart after many decades. The Cuban Five have been released from US prisons. Let us hope that the confrontation will come down.

Revolutionary Greetings to the heroic people of Cuba on their anniversary of victory of Revolution!

On this day,

Rail-fare to increase in the New Year

NDA Government, Rail fare increase

The common people are going to face increased railway fare as  New Year Gift from the NDA Government. The DK Mittal Committee which was asked to examine for ways to improve the financial position of Railways has suggested to increase the railway fare. In addition, it has also recommended to increase the minimum distance to calculate the rail-fare. At present it is 10 km for suburban trains and 50 km for the long distance/express trains. Now it is recommended to be increased to 20 km and 100 km. This will mean that even if a person travels only 5 or 10 km in suburban trains, he will have to pay the charge for 20 km. For long distance trains, the minimum charge will be the rate for 100 km.

There is no doubt that this government of Ordinance Raj will accept the recommendations and increase the railway fare. More burden on the people! It is sure that mighty struggles can be expected in the near future.

New Year Greetings!

The New Year Day is the day on which many resolutions and decisions are made to start a better life. But before that, on the last day of the year, the people will have to look back and review their performance of the year.

Leave it to the individual to review and plan for the future. But all BSNL employees have to look back and review their own performance as well as that of the organisation. Have we come to our expectation? If not, what is to be done further? How can we improve and strengthen BSNL? Let us review these today and plan for the New Year, a Year of BSNL.

My Best Wishes for a Very Happy and Bright New Year 2015 to all visitors, Comrades and friends!

Is the NDA Government becoming an Ordinance Raj ?

NDA Govt., Ordinance Raj

Is the the NDA Government transforming itself in to an Ordinance Raj? It seems so.

After the winter session of the parliament is over, the NDA government has started issuing ordinances one after another. Three ordinances have already been issued viz. Insurance Act (Amendment) increasing FDI in Insurance sector from 26% to 49%, Coal Allotment Ordinance  for allowing allotment of coal blocks to private companies and now the Land Acquisition (Amendment)  Act  making it easier to acquire the land even without the full consent of the owners.

What is the urgency to issue so many ordinances, which can be discussed in the next session and put for approval. Yes, these are all in the interest of the corporates, big business and MNCs  and can not be delayed as the NDA is committed to them for the huge election funds donated.

Yes, the NDA Government is changing in to an ORDINANCE RAJ!

Oppose the Land Acquisition Ordinance – CPI(M)

Land Acquisition Ordinance: Authoritarian Step

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) strongly opposes the decision of the BJP government to amend the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act through the ordinance route to favour the interests of the corporates and real estate barons. The proposed amendment surrenders the genuine interests of the peasantry and land owners.

This decision is in continuation of the ordinances passed on coal privatisation and raising the FDI in insurance. By taking recourse to ordinance raj, the BJP-led NDA government is undermining the essence of parliamentary democracy and showing authoritarian tendencies.

The CPI(M) urges upon all democratic forces to come forward to oppose the anti-democratic and authoritarian acts of the Modi government.

Delhi, Severe cold

Today, the temperature has gone down to a minimum of 2%( and a maximum of 10% in the day). Think , it is the coldest day in this season. Flights, trains – all delayed for hours.

But the most hit is the pave dwellers. About 10 people have already died due to cold.  more than 70 have died in the northern states together. The governments are not taking sufficient care to arrange shelters for these poor people during the cold season.
