65th Republic Anniversary

Best Wishes and Greetings to all on the 65th Anniversary of  Republic Day!

Indian people, after sustained struggle for about one hundred years, won freedom on 15th August 1947 and was declared as Sovereign Secular Democratic Republic on 26th January 1950. The freedom could be won only with the dedicated and determined struggles and sacrifices of crores of people and martyrdom of thousands of freedom fighters.

65 years are over after India became a Sovereign Republic. It was the hope of the people that the condition of the people will improve in all respects. But despite the fact that more than 6 decades are over, crores of people continues to be so poor that they can not have even one full meal in a day. More than 30% of the people can not read and write, and do not have any home. The toiling masses are denied justice.

Of course, a small per cent of the top people have improved and have become millionaires and billionaires.  They have got everything. The middle class has also somehow managed. But the vast majority of the people are denied of the benefit of this growth of the country. Brutal exploitation takes place, and the toiling masses are the worst hit.

For what the freedom fighters and the martyrs fought and sacrificed their lives are yet to be achieved. Not only the political freedom but the economical freedom and the right to have a happy life.

The fundamentalist elements are trying to divide the society in the name of religion, caste, region etc. The danger of terrorism continues. The threat to the nation exists. Workers are denied their rights. In short, the nation is in turmoil.

The people have to rise and continue the struggle for equality, justice and security for all which is envisaged in the Constitution of India. Let us be part of this great movement for a Secular, Democratic, Sovereign and Socialist Republic!

Best Wishes  to you all on the Republic Day!

The apex court sought fresh response of the government about the steps undertaken by it to implement the stage-wise projects for cleaning the Ganga in the states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal in six weeks.

“Now the point is, it is going on for last 30 years. You (Centre) tell us as to what is the verifiable progress in this regard,” a bench headed by Justice T S Thakur said when the counsel for the Centre submitted that “things are happening”.

“If you have financial problem, we cannot solve. All that is required is that you go ahead with the projects and if there is any bottleneck, you can come before us. Don’t take it (PIL) as an adversarial litigation. Do you want to say that this has to be done during this government or in the next term of the government,” it asked. (Courtesy : Hindustan Times)

In an unprecedented show of unity, the leaders of Israel and the Palestinian Authority will both be among those attending the rally to honour 17 victims of three days of bloodshed that included Jews and a Muslim police officer among the dead.

Under clear blue skies, emotions were already running high in the shell-shocked City of Light, with many people from all walks of life already in tears as they began to come together under the banner of freedom of speech and liberty.

A move to deny EPF to employees – 500 companies approach Labour Ministry

EPF, ESI, Option

In a very clever move, more than 500 companies  are reported to have approached the Labour Ministry to allow their employees to have option, how their salaries are paid to them, so that they can have more home-take pay.

It will seem to be an innocent proposal and favourable to the workers. But the fact is that, it is completely against the workers and in favour of the managements. At present EPF is compulsory at 12% deduction from the salary and should be remitted to the EPF organisation with an equal contribution from the employer. According to the new suggestion, the employee can decide whether to contribute to the EPF or not, or to opt for the New pension Scheme. If the worker opt not to contribute to EPF, then the employer need not pay his contribution, thus saving a lot of money and deny the same to the employee.

The Labour Ministry should not accept the suggestion, which is completely against the interest of the workers.
