Central Government has decided to sell three PSUs viz. National Project Corporation, Project and Development India and Pawan Hans. Advertisement has been already issued calling for proposals for the strategic sale.

How many PSUs will be there by the time next election takes place? Modi government will make these ‘ Temples of Modern India’ in to cemeteries one after another.

Why Govt. wants closure/privatisation of BSNL?

14 Saturday Jan 2017

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

The Central Governments is moving for closure/ privatisation of BSNL. Why?

1. According to the policy of Govt.’Business is not the business of govt.’It wants all the PSUs to be closed or privatised.

2. Private telcos can maximise their profit only by removing BSNL from the scene and increasing the charges at least tenfold.

3. BSNL has got maximum prime land in the heart of each and every city, after Railways,  coming to thousands and thousands of hectares. This can be captured by corporates once BSNL is finished.

4. The political bosses will have their ever biggest cut in covert and overt dealings.

It is the customers, common people and workers who will lose. This attack has to be opposed, resisted and defeated. There is no time to lose. A mighty resistance movement and struggle is the only way to defeat this game plan.

Indian cities are becoming more and more polluted with danger to health and longevity. As per the report of the “Airpocalypse – Assessment of air pollution in indian cities” , the following are the most polluted cities in India:

Delhi, Ghaziabad, Allahabad, Bareilly, Faridabad, Jharia, Alwar, Ranchi, Kusunda, Bastacola, Kanpur and Patna.

Out of 168 cities checked by the report only 14 cities are up to the standard. It shows that pollution level is increasing in almost all cities in the country. This is of serious concern.

It is the duty of the government to ensure that necessary arrangements are made to reduce the pollution level. Other wise, not only longevity but health condition will be deteriorated and diseases will increase multi-fold.

Air india, Women seats

The decision of Air India to reserve 6 seats for women on the third row of the Economy Class is appreciable. No other Airlines have thought about such a facility for women. Our Congratulations!

Centre Privatises PSU BEML

07 Saturday Jan 2017

The Central Government has decided to sell 26% share in BEML, a defence ministry PSU, out of its share of 54.03%, which results in strategic sale of the PSU to a private owner. Government expects to get about Rs. 1,000 crore.

BEML, established in 1964, operates in mining, construction, rail, metro, defence etc. Modi Government is aggressively privatising PSUs to benefit the corporates. It had already approved for the strategic sale of BCPL and Hindustan Antibiotics Limited a few weeks back.

We hope that the CPSTU Convention being held at Bengaluru on 29th January 2017 will seriously consider this and take and necessary steps to defeat the same.

New Year Conferences – A tradition of P and T TU Movment

06 Friday Jan 2017

Some delegate comrades in the Chennai AIC of BSNLEU were happy to celebrate the New Year Day 2017 with comrades at the Conference place, while some other delegates were missing their near and dear ones on the New Year Day. The Conference was from 31st December 2016 to 3rd January 2017.

Incidentally, many conferences of the P&T Unions were held earlier in the same way as can be seen below:

  1. Federal Council of NFPTE at Calcutta from 28th December 1955 to 2nd January 1956
  2. Federal Council at Hyderabad from 26th December 1956 to 1st January 1957
  3. Federal Council at Jaipur from 26th to 31st December 1958
  4. Federal Council at Madras from 27th December 1963 to 1st January 1964
  5. All India Conference of E.III Union at Calcutta from 29th December 1981 to 1st January 1982.

So, it is almost a tradition with P and T Unions to hold the Conferences from the last of December to the first of January.
