French strike, solidarity, WFTU

The World Federation of Trade Unions expresses its solidarity with its affiliated organization, the FNIC-CGT, for its decision to mobilize massively and strike on September 12th.

We fully support their call to strengthen the struggle in the coming days and we openly call on the working class of France to intensify its struggles against the anti-labor policies of the new and old governments.

The World Federation of Trade Unions, representing 92 million workers in the five continents of the world, extends its solidarity to the working class and the people of France and calls them to continue their struggle against the antilaboral policies of the EU and the French government. Their aim is to intensify the exploitation of workers in order to increase the profits of capitalism.

The WFTU joins its voice with the workers of France who demand the respect of their just rights against the assaults of the anti-labor policy of the European Union and its governments, which attacks with the same brutality the workers in all the countries .

The working class  in each country, organized in its militant, class, democratic, internationalist trade unions and in social alliance with poor peasants, self-employed workers, youth movements and women, has the power to reverse this policy and open the way for an alternative, in favor of peoples, a world without exploitation and without capitalist barbarism, a world of prosperity and peace.

BSNL, Tower company

Throughout the nation, BSNL employees, as per the call of BSNL unions and associations, organized mighty demonstrations in front of their offices/exchanges protesting against the decision of the government to form a separate Tower Company by hiving away the 64,000 towers of the BSNL. This is part of the government conspiracy to disable and weaken BSNL and prepare for disinvestment or strategic sale as recommended by NITI Ayog.

The union leaders demanded the government to stop the process of forming the separate Tower Company failing which further united struggles will be organised. They said that they will never allow the government to dismember BSNL.

Air India – Process for strategic sale started

Air India Strategic sale

While the Central Government has completely forgotten its election promise of generating employment of 2 crores every year it is aggressively working in selling all the PSUs which will reduce employment opportunities – It always has been the double-speak of this government –

The central government has called for two financial advisers and one legal adviser for strategic disinvestment of Air India – It stated that ‘the government has in-principle decided to consider the disinvestment of the Air India Group as a whole or its constituents fully or part there of through strategic sale with transfer of management control’ –

‘Selling the family silver’ or ‘gifting the nation’s wealth’ to private players?

III PRC and 15% Fitment to employees and Pensioners

BSNL pension

The BSNL executive associations are demanding fixation of pay with 15% fitment as recommended by the III PRC. The non-executive unions have demanded for early wage negotiations, which will also be based on the guidance of the III PRC report. Both have not been accepted so far.

National Co-ordination Committee of Pensioners Association(NCCPA) as also AIBDPA has demanded to the government that the pension revision of BSNL pensioners also be granted 15% fitment, but without waiting for the implementation of the same for employees. Pensioners are senior citizens, who can not wait like the employees. Just like in the case of medical allowance, which was restored to the pensioners first, let the pension revision be made without waiting for the wage settlement. There may be financial difficulty for the BSNL, but no such issues are with the government, as it is committed to give pension from consolidated funds.

Is it necessary to continue the colonial tag to divide the workers?

14 Thursday Sep 2017

Executives, Gazetted, Non-Executives, Non-Gazetted

During the British colonial rule, the government always tried to divide the government employees by putting them in to separate ‘classes’. They segregated the employees in to Class I, Class II, Class III and Class IV. Another classification was Gazetted and Non-Gazetted. In the PSUs, the government of India started dividing workers by naming Executives and Non-Executives. Is it necessary to classify the workers by such names as Non-Gazetted, Non-executives etc. which are completely negative terms.

On each and every issue, the government ensured to exhibit the difference between these ‘classes’, whether it is the chair (only stool for the class IV), Uniform, facilities in the office etc. In some canteens, even seats are separated for the class IV employees, just like the condemnable practice of giving tea in separate glasses for the dalits in tea shops in some areas.

We claim to be a progressive society, but still the unnecessary disparity between the workers continue. This issue require discussion and decision so that these are removed and all workers are treated with dignity.

Stop this loot by petrol companies.

Petrol Price increase - protest

The petrol companies are looting the public with daily price rise, increasing the petrol price, with out any justification. Within the last two months alone, they have increased Rs. 7.3 per litre. It is to be noted that this huge increase is being imposed on the people, when the international price of crude oil has come down drastically. The government has refused to intervene stating that the reforms will go on. Do reforms mean imposing misery on the people by increasing the price of petrol arbitrarily. The petrol companies are reaping lakhs of crores of rupees through this cheating.

Any government worth its name should have intervened in this loot. But not Mody Government, which is the government of the corporates, for the corporates and by the corporates. Strong opposition from the people is necessary to force the government to act.
