The demand for a ‘Five days Week’ for BSNL employees is fully justified. Why?
- 5 Days weeks is internationally accepted.
- The MNCs are observing it.
- Central government employees in Delhi have already 5 days week.
- BSNL Corporate office is a ‘Five Day Week’ office
- Most of the corporates in metros have 5 days week.
- Five days week means less electricity, diesel, petrol consumption and less expenditure for the company
- By increasing half an hour daily, the loss work on Saturdays can be compensated.
- The programme will motivate the workers for putting more work.
- Workers can spend some more time with their family
- At least one hour to 4 hours can be saved on Saturdays for the journey to and fro from home to office and return.
- 5 Days Week will be a relief especially to the women employees who have to work in the office and also at home.
WORKERS CREATE WEALTH – THEY SHOULD BE HONOURED AND GRANTED A PORTION OF THE BENEFIT THAT THEY GIVE TO THE SOCIETY!
The BSNL Management should seriously think about implementing 5 days week.

I totally disagree. this 5 days a week working pattern in BSNL. BSNL is a total telecom solution provider, a backbone of India’s Telecom Network. BSNL provides telecom solutions to all Government /public organisations, many private organisations and also for individuals. If BSNL implements 5 days working pattern, services will be available only during those 5 working days. If any faults arise during those off days, that will be carried over to the next working day.
My personal view is, BSNL should provide 24×7 uninterrupted service for corporate and platinum customers.
I request you to recommend the management of BSNL to work even during Sunday and also on closed holidays. At least Network Operations and public related offices should work 7 days a week.

Five Days week does not mean that offices / exchanges will not be functioning on those days. The intention is to get two days holidays for the workers. It is already a universally accepted principle. The operations sections, the customer service centre etc. will function on Saturdays also, but the employees will be engaged on shift. The telephone exchanges were working 24 X 7 days by bringing workers on shift duties. Even after implementation of 5 days week, through shift duties, all essential and operational duties could be made. This was in existence all for years. Employees will get two days off but the essential services will work.
IF YOU WORK FOR 7 DAYS A WEEK, WHERE IS THE REST FOR WORKERS. WILL YOU BE PREPARED TO WORK 7 DAYS WITH 24 HOURS WORK THROUGHOUT THE YEAR?
