It is time that the BSNL declare Saturdays as holiday for its employees. There is full justification for the same.
1. In many of the Public and Private sector companies, two days holidays viz. on Sunday and Saturday, are given. This is on the basis that the employees should get sufficient time to be with their families and look after children. Most of the time is taken in the day for work and journey to and fro.This is especially important for women workers.
2. Two Saturdays were holidays for office staff while part of Department of Telecom. This was taken away after formation of BSNL.
3. Saturdays are holidays for BSNL Corporate Office.
4. The working hours in the week need not be reduced for giving holiday on Saturday. The time on working days can be increased accordingly.
5. Emergent and customer services can be arranged by bringing staff on duty on Saturdays and giving them compensatory offs.
All the above and other reasons fully justify to declare Saturdays as holidays.
The unions/ Associations are expected to take up the issue which will benefit the BSNL employees in a big way.

Sir we should wrk hard to get bsnl to profitable we dnt need holiday sunday is enough … CMD said if the company is nt profitable next year no pay revision…. Holiday is nt big issue

Most of the BSNL employees are in a holiday mood for all working days then why should need to declare Saturday as holiday?.
I do not know whether you are a BSNL employee or not. If you are not, let me tell you that BSNL is the one telecom company which is providing maximum mobile connections for the last few months, more than Airtel and others. If the employees are in a holiday mood for all working days as you mention, then how this growth can be achieved. Despite all restrictions by the government and denial of its due funds, including the refund for the spectrum returned, BSNL is providing loss making connections to thousands of villages and rural areas which no other private company provides. More than 1,60,000 workers have retired since formation of BSNL, but the new recruits are only to the extent of 30,000 -40,000 resulting in acute shortage of staff. Despite this, the company is being revived with the full support of the staff. You have to appreciate the workers, instead of ridiculing through such comments. Of course, I agree there may be some people who are lazy or casual, but that is part of every institution, while the majority work very hard.
I have great respect to most of central PSU’s. However BSNL still I see not matching to other organization with respect to work ethics. Beefing honest tax payer, I felt very disappointed when I tried to get new Broadband connection and also closing of that connection. I see most of the day and time, BSNL staff in holiday mood. Both during connections and disconnections, I need to visit several times. I do not know what you are talking all about new connections etc.. I wish some day the organization becomes some professionalisms..
Kindly inform the place about which you are complaining and details of the same so that we will also try to improve ourselves. At the same time there are certain limitations also.
Are all Sundays holidays for bsnl administrative offices ?
