“Great Leaders of P and T Movement”, a book on the life and activities of 9 leaders of the Posts and Telegraphs Trade Union movement will be released on 24th November 2015, the 61st anniversary of the formation on NFPTE. The 9 leaders are Babu Tarapada Mukherjee, Henry Barton, V.G.Dalvi, B.N.Ghosh, K.G.Bose, N.J.Iyer, K.Adinarayana, O.P.Gupta and Moni Bose. The author is Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri, Patron of BSNLEU.
The book reveals how the unions were formed in the P and Telegraphs, how much difficulty and victimisation they had to face, the growth of the organisation, formation of UPTW and NFPTE and the historic strikes of 1946, 1947, 1960, 1968, 1974 etc. as also the formation of BSNL.

Com. Namboodiri This is Girija Rajan, daughter of com. A.S. Rajan. My father Com. A.S.Rajan was a long time union leader in the postal dept. Class III. He served as the Gen. Secretary of class III from 60’s and in 70’s was elected as Secretary General of NFPTE till his retirement. Com. O. P. Gupta uncle and my father (A.S. Rajan) were in the stationed in the same building ” Dada Ghosh Bhavan” !! I take this liberty to say that my father had dedicated his life to P&T movement’s progress and hence to include my father’s name Com. A.S.RAJAN in your book ” Great leaders of p&T movement. Note: As a kid I have been associated with almost all comrade uncles whom you have mentioned in the book…. com.o.p.Gupta, com. K.G. Bose, com. N. J. Iyer, com. Adinarayana….. I am very happy to receive your comments and thank you for the same. As you stated, your father Com.A.S.Rajan was one of the great leaders of the P&T TU Movement and had spent his entire life for the upliftment of the P&T workers. He was not only GS of P.III, but also the President of the NFPTE. His books on the P&T TU History have been well received. Your suggestion is fully appreciated.
However, the book is already printed and will be released on 24th November 2015, on NFPTE Day. Some other suggestions have been received to include certain other leaders.These will be included in the reprint of the book or another book, which will be published. In the meantime, kindly send me details of the early days of your father, family history etc.I think he has written some books other than union matters. Please send all this information along with a few good photoes, so that I can prepare the life sketch and achievements of your father for publishing.
