SAVE BSNL, SAVE NATION (10) – Allot Spectrum Free to BSNL

Save BSNL Campaign

BSNL is a fully government owned company. At the time of the formation of BSNL, it was assured by the government that all help and support will be provided to the telecom PSU to maintain its financial viability. All those promises have been broken by the government.

At least the spectrum can be given free to the BSNL. The government has got more than Rs. 1.10 lakh crore from the recent spectrum auction. This is much more than expected by the government.

In these circumstances, the government can easily allot spectrum to BSNL free. It will help revival of BSNL in a big way. We are demanding that spectrum should be granted free to government company, BSNL.

Shame Congress/UPA, Shame BJP/NDA ! Cry India.

India, Social Progress Index

47 years of independence has not  improved the lot of the common people in India. Millionaires, Billionaires and super rich have grown in India, but not the ordinary man. India is at the 101st position among 133 countries in social progress index. Even Sri Lanka (88), Nepal (98) and Bangladesh (100) are above India. All the other BRICS countries ie. Brazil, S.Africa, China and Russia are above India.

This is a sorry state of affairs. It is a shame. The Congress /UPA which ruled the country for a long period and the NDA/BJP which also ruled for sometime and is in the rulers position now, have to answer to the people for this sorry state of affairs. It is blatant corruption and systematic exploitation of the toiling masses. These anti-people rulers have to be thrown out by the people.

No Woman Board Member, Companies will be penalised

women members in board of companies

If any listed company is not having a Woman Board Member, penalty of Rs. 1,000 a day will be imposed on the listed companies. The penalty may go to Rs. 1.42 crore plus Rs. 5,000 a day till the woman member is posted after September 2015. Good decision. There are about 1,500 listed companies which are not having woman board members at present.

This should be implemented to non-listed companies also. BSNL need not worry, since it is expected that women board members are expected to be appointed.

Secy. DOT, Telecom Tariff

Secretary DOT, Shri Rakesh Garg has stated that there is no need to hike the telecom tariff due to the spectrum action, since the business coming will be able to absorb the spectrum charges being paid. The Communications Minister has stated that there may be need for a slight increase and the TRAI has stated the need for significant increase.

The people are watching what will be the decision at last.

6% DA increase for CG Employees w.e.f. 01-01-2015

DA/IDA Merger

Government issued orders for 6% increase of DA for Central Government employees from 01-01-2015, thus increasing the total DA to 113% from the present 107%.

DA for the CG Employees is revised twice every year in January and July. In the PSUs IDA is revised four times in the year in January, April, July and October. For the contract workers it is being revised twice in a year.

The DA /IDA has crossed 100% for both CG employees as also PSU employees. The government should immediately issue orders for merger of DA/IDA with pay. Any delay is causing strong reaction from the workers.  The VII Central Pay Commission refuses to recommend merger stating that it has not been  included in the Terms of Reference given to the CPC.

The Central Government Employees are going for a strike on demands including DA merger. We fully support the struggle.

Disinvestment continues – 5% of Shares of NEC sold for Rs. 1,550 crore

Disinvestment, REC

The NDA government has started the Disinvest Programm in the second week of the new financial year itself. 5 % of shares of Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) has been sold getting Rs. 1,550 crore to the Government. At present the government has got 65.64% shares which will now be reduced to 60.64%.

The government is saying the disinvestment is for funds to the exchequer for developmental activities. What it will do for development after all the shares are told. Disinvestment is nothing short of selling the family wares for favouring the corporates and MNCs.

CPI(M) demands in the Andhra, Telengana Killings

CPI(M) Press Release

Date:
Wednesday, April 8, 2015

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) has issued the following statement:
Andhra Killings

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the police action in the Seshachalam forest in Andhra Pradesh which has led to 20 people being shot dead. These persons were labourers hired for cutting down red sanders wood by those who illegally trade in it. The police claims regarding the incident are untenable as there is sufficient evidence to show that these labourers were killed with impunity. The state government and the police authorities have been failing to check the smuggling of red sanders and instead of taking appropriate measures in this regard, ordinary workers have become the target of police brutality.

The Polit Bureau demands that a judicial enquiry be instituted to enquire into the incident. The Andhra Pradesh government should also provide full compensation to the families of those killed.

Telengana Shootings

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) denounces the shooting in cold blood of five undertrial prisoners by the police in Telengana. These five young prisoners were being taken to court from Warrangal jail to Hyderabad. Midway they were shot inside the police van in what seems to be a staged encounter.

These premeditated killings seem to be an act of revenge for the deaths of two police personnel in an earlier encounter with some former SIMI activists.

These brazen murders in police custody cannot be swept under the carpet. There has to be a high level enquiry into the incident and exemplary action taken against the guilty police officials.

E-Money orders available in 70% of Post Offices

DoP, Money Order

More than 25,000 Post Offices in the country have e-Money Order Services. The Department of Posts reports that the amount of money sent by e-MO has increased substantially.

So far so good. But there should be provision in the e-mail system for intimating the payee about the name and address of the sender and any message that he may send. otherwise it is a problem both for the Postman/Postwoman and the payee, since the details have to be noted which takes away the time of both.
