Spectrum Auction – Bid reaches Rs. 1.07 lakhs crore

price rise, Spectrum Auction

By 17th the Spectrum bids have reached Rs. 1.07 lakh crore. The government will certainly get good money.

But what about the consumers? It is afraid that the private companies who have taken thousands of crores of rupees from the Banks for bidding will certainly raise the charges. The consumers will be compelled to pay more. Since BSNL and MTNL are in the field, it will not be so much easy for the private companies to increase much. We can watch the developments.

Petrol, Diesel Price increased

diesel, Petrol, price rise

On the day the Central Budget has been presented, the price of petrol and diesel has increased. The price of petrol is increased by Rs.2.18 per litre and that of diesel by Rs.3.09. This is effective from the midnight of 28th February – 1st March 2015.

This is the second time that the price is increased recently. When global prices are reduced, the full reduction is not given. But when the prices go  up, it is fully implemented. This is completely wrong and anti-people.

Take Stringent Action Against the Hoarders and Black-Marketeers

The Central Government has stated that one of the major reasons for the high increase of food and vegetable prices is hoarding and black-marketeering. It is not a new information and is known to all.
What is required is action. The Government should take stringent action against the hoarders and black-marketeers with out any delay. Then only the sincerity of the government to control the prices can be shown. But it is to be seen whether the NDA Government with its main support from the traders and business groups will take action against the hoarders and black-marketeers? Let us wait and see.

Raising of fuel prices a reason for fuelling prices of food items

Fuel price rise, price rise

Kolkata, Dec 21 (PTI) Attacking the Centre over rising prices of fuel, CPI(M) General Secretary Prakash Karat today said it was pushing up the prices of vegetables and food items though there was no dearth in production.

“Diesel prices are being hiked by 50 paise every month. The price of petrol was increased by 41 paise a litre yesterday. Increase in fuel prices is pushing up the prices of essential commodities,” Karat told a party rally at Barrackpore near here.

Criticising central policies for the price hike, he laid the blame on futures trading and the Centre allegedly batting for big business.

“The runaway food and vegetable prices have pushed up wholesale inflation,” he said. (PTI)

Roll Back These Anti-People Measures – CPI(M)

price rise, Roll back FDI

I am reproducing the press statement issued by the CPI(M) demanding roll-back of the anti-people measures:

The UPA government has been plunged into a crisis after the  announcement by the Trinamul Congress of the withdrawal from the government and  the UPA.

The Manmohan Singh government had announced FDI in retail  trade, sharply increased the price of diesel, limited the supply of cooking gas  cylinders and initiated disinvestment in some of the top public sector  enterprises. These policies and measures are totally against the interests of  the people of the country.

None of these measures have the support of parties across  the political spectrum. It is clear now with the stand taken by the allies of  the Congress in the UPA that a majority of the members of Parliament are against  these policies. The Congress-led UPA government does not have the mandate or the  right to push ahead with these policies.

The CPI(M) will intensify the struggle against these  measures to get them reversed. All parties who have come out against these  policies should support the all India protest action on September 20. Unless the  Manmohan Singh government rolls back these anti-people measures, it has no right  to continue in office.
