CITU, Foundation Day

Com.B.T.Ranadive, first President of CITU

Today, 30th May 2017, is the 47th Foundation Day Anniversary of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), the militant organisation of the workers in India. It was formed on 30th May 1970 under the leadership of Coms. B.T.Ranadive and P.Ramamurti, the first President and General Secretary of CITU.

During the last five decades, CITU had organised several struggles, gave solidarity and support to many more. It was always in the forefront of united struggles of the central trade unions. In all the 17 united all India strikes organised against the anti-worker neo-liberal policies of the Congress and BJP governments, it took a pivotal role. CITU was the one union which participated in all these strikes. CITU is affiliated to WFTU.

CITU gave a new direction to the working class struggles. It gave all support to the struggles of the CG Employees as also BSNL workers. The advice and guidance of Coms. E.Balanandan, M.K.Pandhe, Chittabrata Mazumdar, Mohammed Amin, A.K.Padmanabhan, Tapan Sen, Hemalatha and other CITU leaders encouraged and inspired the BSNL employees in their forward march.

Revolutionary Greetings to CITU, its leaders and workers on the Foundation Day Anniversary  of CITU!

BSNLEU, Foundation Day

22nd March 2015 is the 15th Foundation Day of BSNL Employees Union, the mighty organisation of the BSNL Non-Executive Employees.

BSNLEU was formed on 22nd March 2001 at the National Convention of Telecom Workers held at Visakhapatnam on 21-22 March 2001. Seven existing unions came together to form the new union.

During its existence of 14 years, BSNLEU has increased its membership, became the only recognised union in BSNL from 2005 ( as per the new recognition rules one more union is recognised from 2013), organised many struggles on the demands of the workers as also for strengthening BSNL and on common demands of the toiling masses. The II wage revision in BSNL from 2007, which benefitted the workers in a bog way was negotiated by BSNLEU as also the four time bound promotion. The entire BSNL workers consider BSNLEU as their champion, irrespective of affiliations.

Now it is the struggle to revive BSNL and strengthen it. It is a united struggles by all the unions and associations in BSNL. Under the leadership of the Forum of BSNL Unions and Associations, the workers are trying to improve the services.

On this 15th Foundation Day, let us pledge to take the union to further heights and  make it a militant and revolutionary organisation.

AIBDPA, Foundation Day, October 21

It was four years earlier, on this day, 21st October 2009, that the mighty organisation of the pensioners, All India BSNL DOT Pensioners Association (AIBDPA) was born. In the National convention of BSNL-DOT Pensioners held at New Delhi on 21st October 2009, this new organisation was formed. It was a long waited dream of the BSNL-DOT Pensioners.
During the last 4 years, the organisation has strengthened and is now the biggest organisation of BSNL-DOT Pensioners. It has taken up the issue of the pensioners in general and that of BSNL-DOT pensioners in particular. AIBDPA organised several agitational programmes including a Parliament March and focussed the attention of the Government and the BSNL Management on the urgent and long pending demands of pensioners. It participated iin all the programmes of BSNLEU and BSNL Forum, with which it has got close association.
The First All India Conference of AIBDPA has been a historic event both in view of the high level of discussions, massive attendance and the decisions taken. The CEC held at Jaipur recently has charted out the path ahead.
AIBDPA CHQ has called upon all the units to observe 21st October, the birth anniversary of the organisation in a suitable way by hoisting the Union Flag, holding meetings etc.
We have many issues to be settled and we will certainly ensure that the same are achieved.
AIBDPA Zindabad!
