2nd September Strike, AIBDPA, solidarity

Members of the All India BSNL DOT Pensioners Association (AIBDPA) fully supported the 2nd September Strike and expressed their solidarity by participating in the demonstrations, processions, dharnas etc. organised on the day along with BSNLEU and BSNLCCWF, whose members have fully participated in the strike. The presence of the senior citizens, who themselves have been the leaders of BSNLEU earlier, gave inspiration to the workers. Many of them are comrades who participated / gave leadership to all the 17 strikes organised since 1991 against the anti-people, anti-worker neo-liberal policy of the government. While only about one crore workers participated in the first strike organised by the Central Trade unions on 29th November 1991, more than 18 crore workers participated in the strike on 2nd September 2016. The Indian working class will continue its struggle against the anti-worker, anti-people policy of the government and on their fully justified demands like minimum wage of Rs.18,000, no privatisation of PSUs, implementation of labour laws to safeguard the interests of the workers, bring down the prices of essential commodities, regularise the contract workers, ensure minimum pension to all etc.

Hearty Congratulations and Thanks to all the senior citizens, AIBDPA members for the solidarity and support extended to the strike!

BMS should rethink about its decision to withdraw from the 2nd September Strike.

2nd September Strike

The media report that BMS, in its core-committee meeting today, has decided to withdraw from the strike, if true, is sad and unfortunate. According to the statement of the BMS General Secretary, the government has come with certain satisfactory proposals and hence the strike can be deferred for six months. The governments’ offer is only on four out of 12 issues and even they are not at all satisfactory. All the CTUs other than BMS had rejected them and had decided for the Strike, after meeting the Ministers’ Committee headed by Finance Minister Arun Jaitely.

The entire working force in the country are already in full preparation of the strike. The issues raised are crucial and the government is on the defensive. It is unfair on the part of the BMS to leave the joint co-ordination at this crucial time. The workers will not accept this position.

The workers in the country wants a united struggle. BMS should rethink and return to the main stream of the Indian working class and participate in the strike. It is the need of the hour.

2 September 2015 General Strike – BSNL Executives Employees also should be part of this great working Class Struggle

2nd September Strike, executives in BSNL

While most of the unions/associations in BSNL have given notice for strike on 2nd September 2015 called by the 11 Central Trade unions on the major demands of the working class and the demands of the BSNL employees, the major executive associations in BSNL is vacillating. So far they have not given the strike notice and it seems that they may not go on strike also.

Many associations of officers/executives in government sector  and public sector have decided for strike. In the private sector also, this is the situation. In certain sectors, the union/association includes both executives and non-executives and the decision for strike is there.

The anti-worker, anti-people policies of the central government are adversely affecting all the workers, including executives/officers. Even at this late stage a rethinking can be undertaken and a correct decision to go on strike taken, which will benefit all.

WFTU Support to the National General Strike in India on September 2nd 2015

The WFTU has issued the following statement on 03 Aug 2015:
The World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) that represents more than 92 million workers all over the world expresses its strong solidarity with our class brothers and sisters of India, who prepare a National General Strike for September 2nd.

During the last years India has met great financial rise. It is member of BRICS, has nuclear arsenal and space program. But this financial boom is not a benefit for most of the one billion people of India. Skyscrapers are built next to the slums. Extreme wealth is gathered next to starving people. While the rich become richer, the wretched are once more the victims. The growth of the capitalist economy is always based on the escalation of the exploitation of the working class. Today that India and its bourgeois political forces take pride on the economic and military strength of the Indian Nation; the vast majority of the people live the contradiction of pauperization.

In these conditions the struggle and the demands of the Trade Union movement of India is just. The WFTU affiliates in India have been preparing this strike for months, showing the determination and the will of the class forces to mobilize the great force of the working people. The success of the National General Strike in India, on September 2nd will be a success for the working class of the world.

Especially this year, when the WFTU celebrates its 70th Year Anniversary, we would like to highlight the historic contribution of the class trade union movement of India to the World Federation since its foundation. It is a fact that without the struggles and the contribution of the trade union movement of India, the international class trade union movement would not be the same.

The WFTU expresses its internationalist support and solidarity to the struggle of its Indian brothers and calls all trade union organizations of WFTU to stand in solidarity with the National Strike of the Indian working class.

Long Live International Solidarity! Long Live the class trade union movement of India! All success to the National General Strike of September 2nd!
