BSNLCCWF Meeting at Mysore

The BSNL Casual and Contract Workers Federation in Karnataka is a strong circle union and through sustained struggles have been able to attend to the issues of its members. A meeting of Mysuru SSA was held on 11th January at RTTC premises which was attended by about 100 comrades. Com.VAN Namboodiri, President, addrrssed and spoke about the charter of demands, struggles organised etc. Com.Mahadevappa, CS, BSNLEU Mysuru, Dist. Secretary CCWF and other comrades addressed.

Forum meeting at Madikeri

A meeting of the Forum of BSNL Unions Associations was held at Madikeri on 10 January 2015, utilising the opportunity of the visit of Com.VAN Namboodiri, All India Convvener of Forum. The meeting was addressed by Com.C.K.Gundanna, Circle Secretary, BSNLEU , Com.Pancharshan, Circle Secretary, SNEA, COM.Krishna and Com.Jacob from NFTE. Com.Anthony, DS BSNLEU Madikeri welcomed all.
Com. VAN Namboodiri, Convener, Forum briefed the meeting about the latest developments and the urgency to implement the action programmes in a very effective way.

AIBDPA Branch inaugurated at Madikeri

In a  well attended meeting of the BSNL pensioners at Madikeri on 10 January 2015, District Branch of AIBDPA WAS formed. Com.A.M.Poojari, presided over the meeting. Com.Anthony, DS, BSNLEU welcomed all. Com.C.G.Patil, Org.Secretary, AIBDPA spoke on organisational matters. Com. VAN Namboodiri , Advisor, AIBDPA inaugurated the meeting and spoke in detail about the issue of the Pensioners, including 78.2 per cent pension revision, demands placed before the VII CPC, the attacks on pension world over, fight against PFRDA, Organisation etc. Com.C.K.Gundanna , Circle Secretary, BSNLEU, Com.Belgi, Circle Secretary, AIBDPA and other leaders addressed. Office bearers were unanimously elected with Com. O.A.Francis as President and Com. S.M.Devraj as District Secretary.
Our hearty congratulations to the new office-bearers and also to all the employees and pensioners of Madikeri and nearby places.

BSNL Pensioners Extend all support to the SAVE BSNL Campaign

Com. K.G.Jayaraj, General Secretary of All India BSNL DOT Pensioners Association (AIBDPA) has called upon all the BSNL-DOT Pensioners to support the Save BSNL Campaign of BSNL employees and also participate in the programmes being chalked out. Already in many centres, its members have participated in the three days dharna.

Forum expresses its thanks to AIBDPA and its members for supporting and participating in the dharna and other programmes. Of course, the pensioners were also workers of BSNL till they retired. The Forum has been continuously taking the issues of the BSNL-DOT Pensioners also.

Insurance Workers Support SAVE BSNL Campaign

Orders issued for 2.2% IDA increase from 01-01-2015 – Total 100.3%

The DPE has issued orders vide No. W-02/2002/2014-DPE(WC)-GL-I/15 dated 05-01-2015 increasing the IDA 2.2% from January 2015, making the total IDA to 100.3%.

At the same time the VII CPC has not recommended the merger of DA with pay for the Central Government employees. The IDA is also to be merged.Tthe demand has to be raised.

Third Day of the Dharna on Save BSNL Campaign

The Dharna called by the Forum on ‘Save BSNL Campaign’ for the third day is being held today, 8th January all over the country. The dharnas during the last two days have been massively participated and the same position will be today also. The Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations congratulates all our leaders and workers at all levels for their actively organising and participating in the dharna.

Full preparations have to be made for the next programme of action, the Parliament March on 25th February 2015. We have to make it a massive march.

Coal India Strike called off after settlement – Congratulations to Coal Workers!

It is reported in the press that the Coal Workers Strike has been called off after a marathon discussion in the late hours of 07-01-2015 between the Coal Minister Piyush Goyal and the leaders of the Central Trade Unions.
 The minister said a committee will be formed to look into the concerns of the workers. The Committee will be headed by a joint-secretary of the government and will include one representative from each of the five trade unions that had called the strike.
The Minister also assured the union leaders that the government has no intention of denationalising the state-run Coal India Limited. “Coal India will be protected and the present and future interest of its employees will be protected,” he said.
Chairman of Coal India Sutirtha Bhattacharya  said no worker will be penalised for the strike and the losses made over the last two days will be covered.
We Congratulate the Coal Workers and their Unions for the massive strike and making the government to discuss and come to an agreement on the issues of strike. This is a victory for the workers in their struggle against privatisation and disinvestment.

TRAI recommends less licence fee for telecom operators

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has recommended to the government to reduce the licence fee of telecom operators from 8% to 6%.

The private telecom operators have been demanding the government to reduce the licence fee.
