It is a good news for crores of LIC policy holders. The Government after much vacillation has decided in favour of continuing the government guarantee for the policies issued by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). The government has also decided that the LIC can regulate the terms and conditions of its agents and the recruitment procedures for agents and employees. The commission to the agents also can be decided by the LIC itself.

Yedyurappa should resign

27 Wednesday Jul 2011

There is no justification for Yedyurappa, to continue as the Chief Minister of Karnataka after all the allegations of scam and also the report of the Lokayukta that he has misused his official position to grab and wealth for his family. It is the responsibility of the BJP, to which party he belongs, to ensure that he quits the CM post.

One Rain – Delhi stopped

27 Wednesday Jul 2011

Yesterday’s( 26-07-2011) heavy rain once again showed that Delhi is never prepared for the rains. Two hours rain, and the entire city was water-logged. All the roads were jammed with heavy traffic. The vehicles were moving inch by inch.
The JAC meeting was fixed at 1600 hours. I, being the Convener, somehow started early and was there well before 1600 hours. Since nobody turned up even after 15 minutes, I started phoning one after another. Almost everybody was on the road unable to move forward. The roads were completely jammed due to the rain. We could start the meeting only at about 1700 hours, when almost all the comrades reached. Delhi is one of the richest corporations. It is the capital of the country where the President, Prime Minister, other ministers and top government officers are staying. But nobody takes care of the convenience to the people. Hundreds of crores of rupees are spent for roads, sewage etc. But the situation is worst. There is no way for the water to go. Delhi papers are focussing these issues continuously. But the government and the Corporation authorities are sleeping.
The citizens of the capital city has to rise and make the government and the MCD to move; there is no other alternative.

Greetings on Cuban National Day, 26th July

26 Tuesday Jul 2011

Greetings on Cuban National Day!
Today, 26th July, is the Cuban National Day. The Cuban Revolution in 1959 saw the emergence of another socialist state after USSR and China. Though it is a small island country in Latin America, the revolution was important in more than one count. It was the first socialist country in the American continent under the domain of the USA, the leader of the capitalist system. The revolution under the leadership of Comrades Fidel Castro and Che Guivera was a history on its own.
USA has never been able to adjust to the revolution in Cuba and has been making all kinds of attacks against it. The Cuban blockade is continuing for decades intended to paralyse its economy, which is mainly dependent upon from exports of coffee, cigar, sugar etc. But Cuba has outlived the blockade and has been able to improve its people’s standard of living in all respects.
On this National Day, let us wish all the best for the Cuban people and a bright future!

” A better world is possible. This is said by some one who has lived dreaming and more than once had the rare privilege of seeing dreams become realities that were not even dreamt of.” – Fidel Castro

” ..how great is our people, how invincible is a just idea, how important it is to believe in humankind, how beautiful to fight for great ideals..” – Fidel Castro

Raja sticks to his point that PM, FM is in the loop of 2G Auction

Former Telecom Minister A.Raja, who is in Tihar Jail in connection with the 2G Scam has submitted in the CBI Court again today, 26th July, that the Prime Minister and former Finanace Minister Chidambaram was fully aware of the decisions taken in the 2G auction.
The Congress is in big trouble with the Prime minister and one of the senior minister in the cabinet, both Congress, being pointed out by the former Communications Minister. Whatever explanations are given by the Kapil Sibal or Chidambaram, the common people has understood that it is not only Raja, but there are others who are still in the government involved in the decision making which resulted in the scam.
The people of this country has got a right to know the full facts. All those who are involved should be taken to task.

PM was present in the meeting on 2G – Former Minister Raja

25 Monday Jul 2011

The cat is out of the bag! Former Comminications Minister A.Raja has stated in the court today, 25th July, that Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and then Finance Minister P.Chidambaram were party to the decisions taken on the allotment of the 2G Spectrum. A media report in the matter is given below:

” New Delhi: Former Telecom Minister A. Raja, who is presently lodged at Delhi’s Tihar Jail, on Monday said the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, and then Finance Minister P. Chidambaram were in the loop on decisions related to the release of 2G spectrum, and that he alone could not be an accused in the corruption-related case.

“Where is the crime? Where is the conspiracy? Telenor buying a stake in Unitech Wireless and Etisalat buying a stake in DB Realty was totally legal as per the corporate law. The Finance Minister approved the sale in the presence of the PM. Let the Prime Minister deny it,” NDTV quoted Raja, as telling the court.

“What the telecom companies do after I give them spectrum is not my domain,” he added.

Stating that he had done nothing wrong, Raja also put the onus on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government, saying he was merely following the policies pursued by his predecessors.

Senior Advocate Sushil Kumar, who appeared for Raja, opposing the framing of charges, said: “If policy pursued by me was wrong, then all former Telecom ministers since 1993 should also be in jail with me (Raja).”

A. Raja was forced to resign from the Union Cabinet last year after the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) faulted him for undervaluing spectrum to favour companies who were largely ineligible for 2G spectrum, and added that the government had probably lost Rs.1.76 lakh crore in estimated revenue.”

Now the role of the Prime Minister and former Finance Minister stands exposed.

NOFN for Broadband Service approved by DOT – BSNL entrusted preliminary work

25 Monday Jul 2011

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

The Rupees 20,000 crore project for National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) proposed by the Government of India has been approved by the Department of Telecommunications. This will be funded through the Universal Service Obligation Fund (USOF) which has got about Rs.25,000 cores at its disposal collected from the telecom companies including BSNL. The preparatory work is being entrusted with the BSNL as per the statement of Kapil Sibal, Communications Minister. BSNL is the only telecom operator which has got network in almost all the gram panchayats, villages etc. and hence this responsibility.
However, Minister also stated that the work may be entrusted with the private telcos also at a later stage. We can not allow this.
BSNL has to implement the project effectively in such a way that the question of any private operator entering at a later stage is avoided.
