China, Co-ordn, India, Russia

Beijing, Jan 16 : India, China and Russia today agreed
that Afghanistan’s stability and security are important to the
region against the backdrop of US plan to remove its troops
from the war-torn country, raising fears of the reemergence of
Taliban and other al-Qaeda linked elements.

The trilateral meeting of the three major emerging powers in the region followed the first India-China dialogue on
Afghanistan held here last year to discuss mutual concerns and
ideas to address problems emanating from US troop withdrawal.

“The three sides exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and agreed that security in Afghanistan is
important to the country and the region,” officials said here
about the talks.

“They reiterated support for a strong, united, stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan. They also agreed to meet again,” the officials said.

Deputy National Security Advisor Nehchal Sandhu led the Indian delegation at the talks. Like India, China too concerned over the reemergence of alQaeda and its likely impact on Muslim Uygur majority Xinjiang province, which borders Afghanistan and Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir.

China is battling a major separatist movement led by the East Trukistan Islamic Movement (ETIM), an al-Qaeda affiliate group, in the province.

China, which looks to play a major role in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of US troops, has invested in mines as well as infrastructure development there.

Replying to a question on today’s meeting, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hong Lei said, “The development of
situation in Afghanistan is closely related to the peace and
stability in the region”.(PTI)

Shaheed Bhagat Singh – A Life Sacrificing, Committed and Dedicated to the Nation

Shaheed Bhagat Singh

The life, revolutionary activities and martyrdom of Shaheed Bhagat Singh for a free India is always an inspiration to generations and generations of the people of India.
I was going through the book “Bhagat Singh on the Path of Liberation”, edited by Shri Shiv Verma, a comrade-in-arms who was with Bhagat Singh in his activities and also in jail for a long period. The book was presented to me by Com.Rani Devi Prasad recently when I went to Chennai to attend a Convention.
The book is not the history of Shaheed Bhagat Singh. It is mostly articles written by him in the jail and also earlier. There is a 404 pages notes made by Bhagat Singh from the books he read in the jail. All these were either officially or through secret method brought out and kept by his comrades. But manuscripts of four books written by him in jail and brought out secretly – (1) The Ideal of Socialism (2) Autobiography (3) History of Revolutionary Movement in India and (4) At the Door of Death – were unfortunately destroyed. But many other articles are available and published in this book.
Within a short life of 23 years (1908-1931) Shaheed Bhagat Singh has achieved more than what can be done in a long life span. His family and surroundings, which were part of the freedom movement helped him to take the revolutionary path. He is referred to as terrorist by the British Rulers, but he was not a terrorist; He was a Revolutionary well studied in the path of Marxism and Leninism and followed the path unwaveringly till his end. Bhagat Singh endowed the Revolutionary Movement with three Slogans: (1) Long live Revolution (2) Long Live Proletariat and (3) Down With Imperialism. His writings published in the book fully confirm this. This book is not only worth reading, but is a must to read to understand the sacrifices made by a generation of young Revolutionaries who sacrificed every thing for the freedom of the motherland. It will inspire any Indian. My thanks to Comrade Rani Prasad for presenting the book to me.
The Certificate of Death of Bhagat Singh issued by the Superintendent of Lahore jail, reproduced in the book, is given below for record:

“I hereby Certify that the sentence of death passed on Bhagat Singh has been duly executed, and that the said Bhagat Singh was accordingly hanged by the neck till he was dead at Lahore Central
Jail on Monday the 23rd day of March 1931 at 7 P.M, that the body remained suspended for a full hour, and was not taken down until life was ascertained by a medical officer to be extinct; and that no accident, error or other misadventure occurred.”
Shaheed Rajguru and Sukhdev also were executed in the same way.

I will conclude with two quotations from the writings of Bhagat Singh which has been proved fully by time.

” My Name has become a symbol of Indian Revolution. The ideal and sacrifices of the Revolutionary Party have elevated me to a height beyond which I will never be able to rise if I live”.

” Bhagat Singh dead will be more dangerous to the British enslavers than Bhagat Singh alive. After I am hanged, the fragrance of my revolutionary ideas will permeate the atmosphere of this beautiful land of ours. It will intoxicate the youth and make him mad for freedom and revolution, and that will bring the doom of the British imperialists nearer. This is my firm conviction. I am anxiously waiting for the day when I will receive the highest award for my services to the country and my love for my people.”

How True. Generations after generations will remember and inspire from the great sacrifice of these martyrs.
Red Salute to the Martyrs!

FDI, Privatisation in Railways

The government is proposing to bring FDI in Railways in a big way. So far, no FDI has been allowed. At last, the privatisation process is going to start in the biggest industry/service in the country.
The MNCs and Indian big corporates have been pushing the government in a big way to allow them to enter the Railways.
The details will be known in a few days. FDI in railways is going to increase the fares, without any doubt.

January 7, 2014. Leaders of the Left parties, the CPI(M), CPI, AIFB & RSP met in New Delhi today and issued the following statement:

Agitation Against Price Rise
The Left parties express serious concern at the crushing burden of price rise which is affecting all sections of the people. There is no respite in the upwards spiral of prices of food items and essential commodities with food inflation reaching a record high of 20 per cent.
The UPA government is adding fuel to the fire by continuously increasing the prices of petrol, diesel, LPG and CNG.

2. No to Aadhar linkage being made mandatory for delivery of services and subsidies to the people.
3. End hoarding and speculation of essential commodities and conduct de-hoarding campaign.
4. No privatization of basic services and conduct audit of those private companies utilizing public resources and delivering basic services.
5. Ensure universal public distribution system.

The Left parties call upon all its state units to conduct the anti-price rise agitation between January 15 and 31.

The meeting was attended by A.B. Bardhan, Prakash Karat, S Sudhakar Reddy, Debabrata Biswas, Sitaram Yechury and Abani Roy.

Delhi is changing

04 Saturday Jan 2014

I returned to Delhi today from Bangalore. Of course it is severe cold compared to Bangalore, but there is a welcome change. That is about Red Beacon Vehicles. Usually you see many of them when you are on the road. Today I did not see a single one from airport to residence or from residence to office. Is it because today is Saturday or is it because of Supreme Court judgement or Kejrival Govt. Policy? Anyway, it is a welcome development.

Whether we are punctual to our duties? Punctuality makes a big difference in improving efficiency and a better service

BSNL for Better Service

Whether we are working indoor or outdoor or in shift duties or fixed duties, a time is usually fixed to start our duty and the time for off duty. This is necessary to ensure that the tasks entrusted to us are attended in time and the work finished as early as possible. There are certain targets fixed also to complete the work.

There was a time when the P and T Department was considered as the most efficient Department. The P and T workers were appreciated for their dedication, commitment and excellent service. Telecom was part of this, and the service with all the limitations was considered as excellent.

Now BSNL is in a difficult situation. Financial viability has gone down and this PSU in loss for the last four years. There are a lot of complaints of delay in repair of faults, delay in providing connections etc. It is true that BSNL, a PSU, can not function like a private company. BSNL is a fully government owned company and there are many rules and regulations of the government to be complied with. Some delay of course take place due to these constraints.

Yet our services can be improved if we are determined. Here, I am only pointing about one thing, the need to be punctual and committed to our duties, whichever be the cadre, whether ITS, Executives or Non-Executives. Everybody has got their duties defined.

Some in the management side will say that the employees are not punctual. The same complaint is about the management officers also. Blame Game does not reach us anywhere.

What is required is action. If all of us from the top management to the lowest paid worker decide that we all will work with determination and full commitment, there surely is going to have a big change for the better.

And towards this better efficiency, one of the prime ingredient is the punctuality in attending to office/our duties. This will certainly make a big difference. If the management and workers in private companies can attend to their duties in time, can’t the management and workers in BSNL do the same or better. I am not forgetting that even now, a large number of workers are punctual. But we want all our workers and officers at their posts in time.

Are we all capable of fulfilling this responsibility? I am sure we are. Let us make maximum efforts to ensure our punctuality which will go in a big way to improve our services better and better.

BSNL FOR A BETTER SERVICE TO THE PEOPLE!
