The Post is one of the most important mode of Communications for the last two centuries and will continue also despite the latest technologies and carrier services etc. This was once the part and parcel of every day life of the people, participant of their joy and sorrow. Poverty Line with Rs. 32 in rural and Rs. 47 in towns

07 Monday Jul 2014

The panel headed by former RBI Governor C.Rangarajan is on the same path as the earlier committees on defining poverty. The committee has stated that those spending below Rs. 32 in rural and Rs. 47 in towns will be treated as poor. This is atrocious, to say the least. The line has got to be upgraded much more.

Even according to this standard there are 29.5 % of the population viz. about 40 crores people who are below the poverty line. The situation is worse than many African Countries.

The report is going to raise a lot of questions on the government in the country.

Comrade Jyoti Basu

220px-Jyoti_Basu_-_Calcutta_1996-12-21_089_CroppedThe Birth Centenary Celebration of Comrade Jyoti Basu, veteran trade union, CPI(M) leader and former Chief Minister of W.Bengal for a record period of 23 years, will end on 8th July 2014. Com. Basu was born on 8th July 1914.

The CPI(M) had called upon to organise the Birth Centenary Year from 8th July 2013 to 8th July 2014 by organising meetings, seminars, publication of books, discussions, social activities like blood donation camps etc. All these programmes were organised in an effective way in many places.

Com. Jyoti Basu was a towering personality and one of the tallest trade union leader in the country. Born in AN affluent aristocratic family of Bengal and after completing his barrister course in England, he was expected by the family to have a successful career. But he selected serving the people after coming to India. His close contact with the Communists in Britain changed his entire life. He became a member of the Communist Party and devoted his life to the people.

He had to face severe challenges is his life. The brutal attack of the semi-fascist Congress rule of 1970s in W.Bengal was not easy to surmount. But under Jyoti Basu’s leadership, the party survived the period and in 1977, came to power with good majority. The land-reforms and other progressive acts of the Left Front Government of W.Bengal under his Chief Ministership have been hailed by all. He stood strongly for the trade union rights of the workers. Com. Jyoti Basu was the Vice-President of CITU since its inception in 1970 till his death. He was a Polit Bureau Member of the CPI(M) since its formation in 1964. His strong secular stand created confidence in the minority in the state.

RED SALUTE TO COMRADE JYOTI BASU ON HIS 100TH BIRTH DAY ANNIVERSARY !

05 Saturday Jul 2014

ASIA, CONSTRUCTION, HEALTH AND SAFETY, INDIA
Construction workers Federation Of India (CWFI) expresses its deep concern about the death of construction workers in Chennai, Capital Of Tamil Nadu.
On 28th June,2014 at Moulivakkam in Chennai, a 11 storey under Construction building got collapsed. According to, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Mrs. Jayalaithaa 72 Construction Workers were Trapped under the Debris.Till Date, the Death toll has touched 55. CWFI deeply mourns the death of the workers. Initial probe reveals that the Madurai Based Developer company ‘prime Sristi’ has not adhered to approved plans. There were gigantic flaws in that construction.
The Migrant Construction workers mostly belong from Andhra Pradesh and Odissa. Tamil Nadu Government already set a one man probe commission headed by an ex-judge. The Police have detained six people including the promoters and developers. CWFI observes that is not enough. CWFI strongly demands that Tamil Nadu Government must provide Ex-gratia of Rs. 10lac to the families of dead workers and Rs. 1 lac to the families of injured workers. CWFI also demand a CID enquiry to the incident.
The incident is really an eye opener, CWFI demands Government should implement strictly the regulations and Safety norms for the Real Estate and developer companies thus the Migrant Construction workers should not bear the brunt of the menace.

WFTU denounces the criminal negligence of the employer and joins its voice with its affiliate CWFI of India on their fair demands.
