78% Pension Fixation – The DOT should act quickly

15 Friday May 2015

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

There has already been undue delay in settling the 78.2% IDA pension fixation. DOT as well as Minister Communications has assured that the matter will be speeded up. But so far, even the Cabinet note has not been prepared.

We demand that the DOT and Government should immediately act. The Pensioners are eagerly waiting for getting the benefit of 78.2% Pension fixation implemented.

There should not be any further delay. The DOT should act.

Com.K.Chnadran

With deep grief and sorrow it is intimated that Comrade K.Chandran, senior leader of the P and T Trade union movement and also of the Pensioners movement, passed away today at Kozhikode. He was 83.

Joining the Telegraph Office, Calicut as a boy peon at the age of 16, Com. Chandretten, as he was respectfully called by all his colleagues, retired from service in 1989. He has been the District Secretary and also a Circle Office-bearer of the T.III Union (NFPTE). In all the strikes since 1960 he has participated and was suspended and victimised heavily.

He had deep knowledge about the trade union movement, both national and international. He was very active even till the last moment in the pensioners movement, especially AIBDPA.

I have a long association with him while I was working at Calicut. His commitment to the union and co-workers was beyond description. He stood with the workers and defended them at all costs.

His death is a great loss to the trade union movement and personally to me.

My Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family – wife Smt. Shyamala, sons Manoj Kumar,Shaju and daughter Minimol. Condolences to his comrades and friends.

Red Salute to Com. K.Chandran!

TMC Bomb Factory Explodes – More than 10 death

09 Saturday May 2015

I am reproducing below a report from Ganashakti on the blast in a Trinamool Bomb Factory in W.Bengal.

“Kolkata ,May 7th –  A massive powerful blast took place yesterday night in a big bomb making factory patronized by the ruling Trinamool Congress at Pingla of West Medinipore district killing 15 peoples and injuring scores of other people . The Factory which used to supply bombs to TMC hooligans all over the state had raw material suppliers from units in North Chennai and Perampudur of Tamilnadu. The interstate operations of the Bomb making units were financed by the TMC hooligans and they even collected protection money from the unit which was located in a Trinamool Congress leader’s house and had close connection with the Police.  Police even tried to suppress the incident of the blast and switched off the lights of the village where the blast occurred in order to remove the dead bodies in the darkness of the night. Such was the intensity of the blast that the different body parts of the dead persons were thrown nearly 100 meters’ away and some were left hanging in the trees.”

Is TMC gradually going the Fascist way? It seems so.

Can BSNL reduce expense on electricity, petrol, diesel ?

Save BSNL

After salary of the employees, the second biggest expenditure in BSNL is that of electricity, diesel and petrol.  This comes to thousands of crores of rupees. BSNL in financial crisis and the target should be to increase the revenue and reduce the expenditure.

The biggest expenditurein BSNL is the salary of the employees. It can not be reduced. However, by withdrawing Medical Allowance with out Voucher, Restricting LTC, not increasing the rates of various allowances, denying Bonus etc. the BSNL Management has reduced the expenditure, though the staff side did not agree.

Now what about the second biggest expenditure; expenditure on energy. It can  be reduced to a certain extent. Install solar energy  wherever possible. Reduce the expenditure on car by officers by sharing travel. The petrol and diesel expenditure can be reduced a lot. The lights and fans in the offices can be switched off  when nobody is there. ( In many offices, it is seen that the lights and fans are on, even when nobody is there).

By circulars and directions alone this can not be implemented. Each and every worker has to take care that energy is not wasted and is used only when required. The BSNL Management can organise a “Save Electricity Month” with careful planning and see how much  expenditure on energy can be saved. The same with petrol and diesel also.

Karl Marx still relevant

05 Tuesday May 2015

The bugle blowers of imperialism and capitalism have been continuously declaring after the collapse of Soviet Union that Karl Marx and his theories have become irrelevant.
But now after the capitalist financial crisis that started in 2007, the back lash from the Latin American countries to the hegemony of US, the steady growth of Chinese economy – they  are compelled to eat their own words. The large number of republication of Marxist literature and sale have shown that Marxism is still very relevant and is a mighty force in changing the present world order fo a better one.
Today is the 197th Birth Anniversary of Karl Marx. Red Salute to the memory of the great Teacher!
