Kerala, Muslim League, Text Books

Thiruvananthapuram; July 14, 2015: Muslim League goons destroyed the text books distributed by SFI in schools in Tirur (Malappuram), Kerala. SFI has been distributing text books in publicly-funded schools all over Kerala during the past few days, as a mark of protest against the huge delay in the distribution of text books by the Congress-led UDF government.

The Education Minister is from the Muslim League, and the Muslim League goons in Kainikkara near Tirur found it intolerable that activists of SFI and DYFI are exposing the failures of the Education Minister and the government through this protest which has gained enormous support from the people of the state. The League goons attacked SFI activists, grabbed the copies of the Std. IV English text books that were brought for distribution and destroyed them. A few SFI activists suffered minor injuries in the attack. (A report by NS Sajith)

World Population Day

Today is World Population Day. As per National Population Stabilisation Fund of the Union Health Ministry, the population of India was  127,42,39,769 at 17.00 hours today, 11th July 2015. This is 17.25% of the World Population. China continues to be the first with 139 crores, but by 2050, India is expected to be the number one country in population with an estimated population of 163 crores.

The number of people are increasing. The number of poor, jobless are also increasing. On the other hand, the crorepatis are also increasing. The poor becomes poorer, the rich, richer.  This increased differences are part of the capitalist policy being implemented by the Government of India.

EPFO

It has been stated by EPFO that it had settled 11.06 lakh claims in June 2015 within 15 days and 38% of them within three days. It is a record. Naturally it has to settle the claims with good speed. But however, it is not known how much is pending.

Drinking water, IRCTC

The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is planning to supply drinking water in the Railway Stations at Rs. 5/- per litre, Rs. 3/- for half-litre and Rs. 1-2 for a glass of water. The travelers can get the water from the wending machines which will be put in the stations.

If this plan is implemented the people will get benefit. Now, they have to pay Rs. 15- 20 for a litre bottle of water. But whether the MNCs and local water-bottle companies will allow such a plan which will reduce their huge profits? Whether the government which is controlled by these corporates allow the same?
