BSNL for Better Service – Utilise the Works Committee effectively

After much persuasion by BSNLEU, the BSNL Management has sent another directive to all the SSA heads to form the Work Committee and start functioning.
IT was BSNLEU which gave the suggestion some eight years back on the basis of which the Works Committees were formed. It was intended for discussion at the field level between the management and the unions for expansion, development and for giving a better service to the customers. It was to a certain extent beneficial also. But gradually the field level management in most SSAs according to their own wisdom.
When all are trying for revival of BSNL, the Works Committee has a big role to play. That is why BSNLEU and Forum demanded for restoring the Works Committee. Reminder has now been issued by the corporate office and it may start functioning again.
I would request all our comrades at the SSA level to utilise the committee effectively so that our service is got better and there growth and expansion and also profit.
Let us take this task as a challenge to make BSNL viable.

AIBDPA Foundation Day Observed

Reports have come from many places about the observation of the Foundation Day of AIBDPA, today, 21st October 2013. Within four years of its formation, it has become the biggest Pensioners Association in DOT-BSNL.

United Forum meetings with Director (HR)

The scheduled strike issues discussion between Director (HR) and United Forum for today was postponed since the Director (HR) was called for a meeting with Home Minister on the arrangements to be made to face the cyclone in the coastal areas of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

Com. P.Abhimanyu, General Secretary, BSNLEU, who was on a visit to Japan to attend functions at Hiroshima and Nagasaki on the anniversaries of the Atomic Bombing of the two cities by the US on 6th and 9th August 1945 respectively has returned today and joined CHQ.
We welcome him back to CHQ!

Com. S.R.Nayak in AIIMS, Delhi

Com.S.R.Nayak, senior P and T union leader and the Circle Secretary of BSNLEU, M.P.Circle, is under treatment in All India Institute of medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi. He has been admitted in AIIMS about two weeks back for high fever. The doctors have almost diagonised and proper treatment started.
We all wish a speedy recovery for Com. Nayak!

CEC Meting of BSNLEU Haryana at Kurukshetra

A meeting of the Circle Executive Committee of BSNLEU, Haryana Circle was held at Kurukshetra on 5th August 2013. The meting was presided over by Com. Naresh Kumar, Circle Union President. Com. V.A.N.Namboodiri inaugurated the CEC. In his speech he stressed the necessity of improving the services and also fighting to get the assurances of the government given at the time of corporatisation on financial viability of BSNL, for an efficient management and a change of the mind set and work culture of the employees. The problems of casual contract workers and the need to organise was also emphasised. Shri Chandrahasan, GM, Karnal, Coms. Animesh Mitra, Acting General Secretary, Kuldeep Singh, CHQ Asst. Treasurer, M.S.Kadian, Circle Secretary, Bijendr Singh, I.S.Malik, District Secretary Karnal and all the other district secretaries also spoke. Com. Animesh Mitra, Acting General Secretary, in his speech touched all the important organisation matters as also workers issues in detail.

The CEC meeting was very effective and gave inspiration to the comrades present. This was the first Circle CEC meeting after the Kolkata CEC meeting, which called for holding the circle Executive Committee meetings to prepare the workers for struggle as decided by CEC. It was also decided to hold a Circle Convention of the Casual contract workers on 1st September at Jind.

My Hearty Congratulations to Com.MS Kadian and his team for the excellent meeting. Thanks to karnal comrads also who arranged the meeting.

Massive Meeting of BSNL Unioins/Assns at Mysore

.A meeting of the BSNL employees was organised under the platform of BSNL Unions/Associations at Mysore GM office premises on 21st June. More than three hundred workers were present. The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Forum Com.B.S.Venkatesh, Circle President SNEA. Coms. Krishna Gowde, Circle Vice-President, AIBSNLEA, M.C.Balakrishna, All India org. Secretary, BSNLEU, M.Mahadevappa, Dist. Secretary, BSNLEU, Lingaraju, DS SEWA BSNL, B.V.Ramachandra,DS AIBSNLEA, Mahadeve Gowda, DS NFTE, Basavaraju DS AIBDPA and other leaders were present in the dais.  Com. Ganesh, Convener, Forum welcomed all.  Shri K.L. Jayaram, Sr.GM,  addressed the meeting and appreciated the work being done by the Forum to improve the services. He assured that he will make maximum efforts  for improving BSNL.

Myself as the main speaker spoke mainly on the need to strengthen BSNL and the proposals given by the Forum to the Group of Ministers looking in to the revival of BSNL. The action taken by the Forum in this connection was briefed. He congratulated the workers for the excellent support in the recent proposed strike due to which the DOT / Management was compelled to issue orders on 78.2% IDA fixation.

My visit on 21st June at was an opportunity to meet a lot of old comrades. Com.R.G.Bhandari, Mukundan (both retired) , Prasanna, Subramaniam and many other comrades who were very active in organising the AITEU Class III (Namboodiri) and later BSNLEU came and met me. We spoke about the old times and also the need to continue the same in the future.

Mandya continues strong

After more than one decade, I got the opportunity again to visit Mandya in Karnataka and meet our comrades. yesterday, 20th June, A meeting was arranged at Mandya on my visit which was attended by a large number of comrades. Com T.D.Chandra Dasu, District President of BSNLEU presided. Com.Puttasamt, district Secretary welcomed all and briefed the housed about certain issues. Com. M.C.Balakrishna, All India Orgnising secretary spoke about the latest developments. I was welcomed and honoured in the tradition Karnataka style with peta and shawl.

I spoke about the recent agreement on 78.2% IDA pay fixation, issues of casul labours and pensioner, our efforts to improve the serrvices, the memorandum to the GoM on Revival of BSNL etc. and the organisational tasks we have to attend to.

Mandya was always been a strong centre of the union. My hearty conratulations for all the comrades.

Notice for Indefinite Strike will be served on 17th May.

The Forum of BSNL Unions / Associations will be serving the notice for strike w.e.f. 12th June 2013 demanding immediate implementation of the Strike Agreement on 78.2% IDA fixation tomorrow, 17th May. In preparation for the strike Demonstrations will be held on 22nd May and Dharnas on 5th June  at C.O/Circle/SSA levels.

The inordinate delay of about one year after the agreement is intolerable and untenable. Workers have to express their strong protest through complete participation in all the agitational programmes and indefinite strike.

Reception to Comrade M.L.Tiwari

Com.M.L.Tiwari who was working in the CHQ for more than 10 years and who has requested to be relieved from 1st May 2013, was given a warm reception by the CHQ comrades on 13th May 2013. Com. Tiwari retired from NTR ten years back and since then has been providing good assistance and service in BSNLEU CHQ Office. Coms. V.A.N.Namboodiri, President, P.Abhimanyu, General Secretary, Animesh Mitra, Dy. General Secretary, S.C.Bhattacharjee, Treasurer, T.A. Biju, Office Secretary and others spoke and hailed the services of Com.Tiwari.

Com.Tiwari was honoured by the meeting by presenting a shawl and gifts.

Best Wishes for  a Happy and healthy Retired Life to Com.M.L.Tiwari!
