After much persuasion by BSNLEU, the BSNL Management has sent another directive to all the SSA heads to form the Work Committee and start functioning.
IT was BSNLEU which gave the suggestion some eight years back on the basis of which the Works Committees were formed. It was intended for discussion at the field level between the management and the unions for expansion, development and for giving a better service to the customers. It was to a certain extent beneficial also. But gradually the field level management in most SSAs according to their own wisdom.
When all are trying for revival of BSNL, the Works Committee has a big role to play. That is why BSNLEU and Forum demanded for restoring the Works Committee. Reminder has now been issued by the corporate office and it may start functioning again.
I would request all our comrades at the SSA level to utilise the committee effectively so that our service is got better and there growth and expansion and also profit.
Let us take this task as a challenge to make BSNL viable.

Dear Comrade, The fight for better service and improvement of BSNL is not a small matter. There should be co-ordination between the management and the workers and the government has to change its anti-PSU policy , which is part of the neo-liberal policy. It is only the workers who can fight for the same.
THE CGM Karnataka while addressing our convention rightly pointed out to stop blaming game. Receiving customer with smile and punctual to the work do not require any material. Visiting customer house and try to retain the service do not require any material. try to retain the present connection of land line and broadband with the available resources. getting positive attitude to any of the suggestion of others and accepting the same will definitely improve the work culture. not to try to start debating and thinking against will give good result. Positive approach is the need of the hour. Not blame game.
This is one aspect of the effort to improve the services. But smiling face and approach alone is not sufficient. If the demand of the subscriber is not met for providing services, new connections etc., the business can not advance. For that supply of essential material are necessary. How the private companies were able to win over the market. They had sufficient procurement at any time and they were able to provide services immediately. BSNL fell down, mainly after 2006-07, when the entire procurement process was torpedoed by the government, with the full support of the management. If the tender for 45 million and 93 million mobiles later was not cancelled,the entire situation would have been difficult.
Of course, blame game will not do much benefit. But one can not miss the failure of the past, if improvement has to take place. The government and the management is mainly responsible for the present position of BSNL.
