Strategic Sale of Subsidiary Companies of SAIL

30 Wednesday Nov 2016

Central Government will shortly hold auction for strategic sale of Bhadravati, Salem and Durgapur Subsidiary Companies of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

The government is bifurcating units in to subsidiary companies and then making strategic sale to private companies. This is another form of privatisation.

It is for this that Tower Subsidiary Company is being formed from BSNL. BSNL workers are going on strike against this move on 15 December 2016.

Make the strike 100% success and defeat the anti-PSU move of the Government.

Are we a Nation of Dishonest Tax Payers?

30 Wednesday Nov 2016

A write up published in ‘Business Line’ dated 30th November 2016 has concluded with the sentence that ‘We are a Nation of Dishonest Tax Payers (except where tax is deducted at source)’. The author has cited examples also to prove his argument.

It seems that the rich have perfected their Strategy how to dodge and evade tax payment either by misinterpretation of rules or by paying bribes or completely violating the rules. It is mainly the workers, whose tax is deducted at source, the true and best tax payers.

Submission of Bank Accounts  of  BJP MPs from  8th November – Why not earlier?

30 Wednesday Nov 2016

Posted by VAN NAMBOODIRI in Uncategorized

Prime Minister has asked BJP  MPs and MLAs to submit Bank Accounts from November 8 to December 31 to find out whether there is any irregularity. This is only an eye wash. If the govt. sincerely wants to find out illegal transactions,  they should demand the transactions six months earlier from 8th November, including transactions by BJP. Will PM dare to ask the BJP and their MPs to submit the same?

When surgical strike against Illiteracy, Poverty, Unemployment?

28 Monday Nov 2016

Prime Minister Modi continues his speeches about surgical strike against black money and the need to educate the people about cashless transactions. No Comments, except that it is the poor and ordinary people who are suffering because of the demonetisation and not the  rich and corrupt persons with black money. None of the latter is standing for hours together in the unending queue before the ATMs to get some money for their day today expenditure. None of them is curtailing their expenditure on food and other necessities. The misery of demonetisation has maximum  hit the ordinary people and not the rich.

But what about surgical strikes against illiteracy, poverty and unemployment which are the main causes for the misery of large number of people in the country?

Senior Citizens in China provided with GPS bracelets to avoid missing

28 Monday Nov 2016

Communist China is providing its senior citizens, those who are above 60, with GPS enabled bracelets so that they can contact their family when they are lost or their family can track them down when they are missed. There is provision in the bracelet to make phone call to the family.

In China, there are about 22.2 crore senior citizens above 60 years, out of a total population of 138 crore. It is reported that on an average, 1,370 senior citizens are going missing every day. Hence this new method to find them is arranged, which will help lost people to be found.

In this connection, it will not be out of place to mention that in large metro cities like Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai etc. a large number of senior citizens are lost every day. Some arrangements, as made in China, will be helpful in their cases.

Today, 27th November 2016,  I was invited to inaugurate the All India Postal and RMS Pensioners Association Delhi Circle Conference, which was being held at R.K.Puram Sector 6, Community Hall, Delhi. About 150 pensioners were present. Com. Rajendra Prasad, Circle President presided. Com.Deep Chand,Circle Secretary welcomed all and garlanded and presented shawl to all the guests and speakers.

The house stood in silence for one minute paying homage to the Martyrs, Cuban Revolutionary leader Com. Fidel Castro who passed away yesterday and also Com. Des Raj, former General Secretary, P.IV Union, who left us a few weeks back.

In my inaugural speech, I mentioned about the great Cuban Revolution, the pivotal role played by Castro as also the priority given to the pensioners and children in the socialist  countries.  I also spoke about VII CPC recommendations,  15th December Parliament March by CG Employees, demonetisation and the misery to the people, the major demands of the pensioners etc.

Coms. Iswar Dabas, Laxmi Narayan, H.L.Siddhu and other leaders addressed the Conference. I returned before the conclusion of the conference since I had to attend some other urgent work.

It was a pleasure to meet many senior leaders of the Postal and RMS movement, who are now active in the Pensioners’ movement, AIPRPA. It was a pleasant day. Thanks to Comrades Rajender Prasad and Deep Chand.

For the WFTU has been the greatest honor Comandante Fidel’s own presence in its Congresses and his great speech to the delegates of the 10th WFTU Congress.

For the World Working Class Fidel Castro will always be IMMORTAL.

fidel-castro

With great sorrow, it is intimated that Comrade Fidel Castro, former President of Cuba and  veteran world Communist leader passed away today at Havana, the capital of Cuba. He was 90 years old.

Com. Castro was the legendary leader of the Cuban Revolution which converted Cuba in to a Communist State. Though a small country Communist Cuba showed the world how a country can grow despite continued attacks and blockade by USA, the leader of capitalism and imperialism.

He voluntarily vacated the post of President due to age and was continuing to guide the Socialist Cuba. His death is a great loss not only to Cuba, but the entire Socialist world.

Red Salute to Comrade Fidel Castro!

Why We Oppose Subsidiary Tower Company! Towards One Day Strike on 15th December 2016!

BSNL, strike, Tower company

Massive protest dharnas were organised throughout the country on 25th November 2016 as per the call of  all unions/associations of non-executives and executives in BSNL against the move of the government to form a Subsidiary Tower Company bifurcating  BSNL. In BSNL Corporate Office also, the dharna was participated by large numbers of comrades who have come from UP(W) and Haryana Circles as also from the corporate office and NTR. The workers were agitated and angry that the government and the BSNL Management is moving against the interest of BSNL and its workforce.

Why workers are opposing the Subsidiary Tower Company?

  1. There is no need for a separate tower company. BSNL has got more than 65,000 towers at present and they are working well and helping the improvement of  services.
  2. Although government says that it will be a fully subsidiary company of BSNL, this is only temporary. Within no time, it will be separated and will be put under strategic sale as in the case of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited(VSNL). It will cease to be a BSNL Tower Company and will be a Adani Tower Company/Reliance Tower Company/Tata Tower Company or some other private Tower Company according to who takes  it.
  3. Once it is a separate company, BSNL will have to pay charges of using the same to the Private company. This will be just like BSNL paying for undersea cable charges to private companies although BSNL  paid funds for installing the same.
  4. The Reliance Jio which has not much  towers so far badly need the same. A separate tower company will be the answer.
  5. Such a situation will be the decline of BSNL, which is on fast revival path.
  6. ‘Divide and Destroy’ is the strategy being adopted by the government.

But the government, private corporates and  BSNL management have forgotten certain aspects:

  1. This is not the first time that the government and management have tried to ‘Divide and Destroy’ BSNL. First they decided to ‘unbundle’ the priceless copper cables of BSNL, which lies underground connecting the entire country. This conspiracy was defeated by the united strike decision of the BSNL employees and the Secretary DOT was compelled to give written assurance to the Joint Action Committee that the cables will not be unbundled.
  2. Government decided to retrench, in the name of VRS, first 50,000 employees, then 1,00,000 employees and lastly 70,000 employees. United agitation by  BSNL workers ensured that these anti-worker actions are defeated.
  3. Government decided to disinvest BSNL thrice and offered 3% of shares to the employees. Through stiff resistance and strike, the workers ensured that government could not implement its decision.
  4. The government withdrew all assistance and financial support to BSNL, which were assured at the time of formation of BSNL, with the intention of making BSNL unviable to enable it to privatise the PSU. Due to consistent efforts by the unions/associations and workers, BSNL is brought in to operational profit, in which the management also had a great contribution. As such the ill-intention of the government was defeated.
  5. The government move to unbundle cables, Retrenchment/VRS, Disinvestment etc. could be defeated only because of the strong unity and firm determination of  BSNL workers, both executives, non-executives, contract workers and even the retired employees. It is to be remembered that the one lakh strong contract workers went on strike every time there was a strike by the employees, though many of them were retrenched from work and victimised. Under the leadership of BSNL Casual and Contract Workers Federation, they stood with the employees, since they understood that their future depended upon the existence of BSNL. In the same way, the pensioners under the leadership of All India BSNL DOT Pensioners Association stood with the workers by participating in all programmes (other than strike). Their future is also connected with the existence of BSNL.
  6. While the policy of the government is ‘Divide and Destroy’, the counter policy of the workers has been ‘United Struggle’, ‘Better Service’ and ‘Revival of BSNL.’ The workers have won so far, although through much sacrifice and suffering.
  7. The massive dharnas have once again shown that BSNL workers are united and firm against the formation of ‘Subsidiary Tower Company’ and will fight to the last to defeat the attack on the ‘survival of BSNL.’
  8. If the government and management do not go back from this attack on BSNL, the 2 lakh BSNL workers and  one lakh casual contract workers, with the support of almost 2 lakh DOT-BSNL pensioners  will fight to the last and defeat the sinister game of the government.
  9. All the workers should be individually contacted, explained and  made ready for the One Day Strike on 15th December 2016 for which notice has already been served by the unions/associations. It is not a strike ritual. It is a real strike in which each and every employee is convinced and ready to fight till the last.
