Out of the 2,11,000 and odd employees in BSNL, 68% are above the age of 50 years. Those who are below 30 years are only 3%. This shows the urgency of recruitment of fresh blood.
The Non-Executives are about 80%, Executive 18% and Management 2%. It can be seen that the % of non-executives have come down drastically, since not much recruitment has taken place after formation of BSNL, while more than one lakh sixty thousand have retired, mostly non-executives.
There are about one lakh contract workers engaged by BSNL through contractors. The casual labour comes to about 3,500 who were recruited during the DOT period.
Hello Dear Retires Leader,
BSNL Need RETIREMENT First….. then Recruitment… .already this 68% staff is burden on BSNL New staff recruited as JTO/JAO/TTAs. They are practically working in Pay scale of 1997 when they was just 10 year old kids…. While u people are sucking BSNL with Pay, Medical Bills and expenses… Have u have thought about how they are running home without 30% fitment. i.e 25% less salary…… BC like u people with neither help BSNL nor any new talent in BSNL. Its HR Mess nothing else…. when new talent are trapped in Bond and asked to work as LINEMAN so that they will end as MAZDOOR after 5 years and no where to go…
Dear Comrade, I can understand your discontentment about the wages. BSNLEU is fighting for the 30% fitment for new recruitees. It was BSNLEU who demand, not any new recruitees. The wage structure which is far better than many PSUs is the result of the struggle by BSNLEU and the employees. It was only through many struggles that even comrades like you were recruited. The ban on recruitment was broken by struggles of these old workers. It was these workers who created the infrastructure. It was during the earlier period that P and T became the best service and the glory of the nation. The earlier generation including our parents may not be as educated as us. The next generation will be more educated than you. Do you want them to ridicule you and get abused? Let us not be like the son/daughter who send the parents to the old age homes. And it is always nice to use good language. Abusing others is better avoided.
