Workers’ Struggle Against new Economic Policies – National Convention on 10th May 1992

The new liberal economic policies of the government with its Liberalisation, Privatisation, Globalisation programmes were being implemented with out any consideration of adverse effects on the workers and the common people.

The National Convention of Trade Unions Against Economic and Industrial Policies held at Mavlankar Hall, New Delhi on 10th May 1992 under the auspices of the National Trade Unions and participated by Confederation of CG Employees & Workers, Federations, Associations and Unions of various industries  etc. adopted a resolution calling upon the workers through out the country to join the All India Strike on 16th June 1992. The  Convention also called upon all democratic and patriotic sections of people to support the mass action of the workers to safe-guard the sovereignty of the nation. Telecom workers actively participated in the convention.

Further Attack on E-III Union – Bombay Meeting called by NFTE

There was no respite on the attack on E.III Union by NFTE and government/DOT. In his capacity as the SG NFTE, OP Gupta issued a notice for a meeting of the E-III Circle secretaries  to be held at Bombay from 3rd to 5th June 1992, with the agenda “Resolving the dispute on E-III and if necessary hold election for CHQ”. Situation went to the extreme and the conspiracy  was exposed when DOT through its letter dated 05-05-1992 asked O.P.Gupta, SG NFTE to intervene in E.III Union by invoking Art. 25© of the Union Constitution.

The disruptors thought that they will be able to smash the new E.III leadership by this black strategy. But once again, they were in the wrong. E.III Assistant General Secretary Com. M.N.Reddy moved the Hyderabad High Court against the illegal meeting. The Hon’ble High Court of Vacation, Civil Judge, City Civil Court, Hyderabad in its order dated 28-05-92 stayed the illegal meeting notified by OPG.

At the same time another interim order was got issued by Calcutta High Court restraining the authorities (DOT) from giving any effect to the purported decision of non-acceptance of Com.Moni Bose as the elected general secretary of the E.III Union by DOT as well as the illegal Bombay meeting called.

Thus once again, the game of the disruptors to destabilize the militant E.III Union was defeated. Both the DOT and the disruptors stood disgraced.

E.III Office Bearers’ Meeting on 1-2 June 1992

A meeting of the office-bearers of E.III Union was held on 1-2 June 1992, which decided to organize massive dharnas on 15th July 1992 demanding recognition of Com. Moni Bose as General Secretary.

Moni Bose, GS, addressed a letter dated 06-07-1992 to OPG as SG NFTE asking him to accept the democratic decisions and to end the disruption of E.III Union. Mentioning the disruptive actions taken by SG NFTE one after another, Moni Bose demanded him to put an end to the anti-worker, anti-union activities. He further appealed to SG “ to honour the democratic verdict of the highest forum of the union- the AIC at Bhopal and extend co-operation so that the elected office-bearers can serve the cause of the membes for a full tenure”. But, unfortunately, all these went in to deaf years.

Despite clear court orders, OPG continued with the fake list with M.B.Vichare as General Secretary. Further the three posts of Members of the Departmental Council were denied to the duly elected office-bearers. Not a single post of JCM members was allotted to E.III office-bearers. (To be continued)

No end to exploitation of casual contract workers in UP

14 Monday Sep 2015

Despite of bringing the brutal exploitation of contract labour in UP even to the notice of the Prime Minister, no improvement has taken place. The wages for the last many months have not been paid. The workers were being paid only Rs. 1500-2000. This has to be changed. The top management keeps stoic silence against this injustice. Struggle is the only way. Strengthen the organisation for a tough fight.

Nepal Constituent Assembly reject demands for Hindu State

Hindu State, Nepal

Nepal Constituent Assembly has shown wisdom and democratic tradition by rejecting the demand for reverting the country to a Hindu State. Nepal was  a Hindu nation for centuries with the King considered and revered as the living god, till a few years back (2006)when it was changed in to a democratic nation.

The Constituent assembly is to be appreciated for rejecting the proposal with more than two-third majority. Those few who wants India to be made a Hindu Nation should note this decision in neighboring country.

Harkishan Singh Surjeet

Kolkata ,September 13th –  Hailing   Com Harkishen Singh Surjeet  as a bright example of  struggle against Communalism  CPI(M) General Secretary Sitarm Yechury  asked  workers to emulate  Com Surjeets’ fight against communalism. Tracing the influence of Martyr Bhagat Singh  and  Gadar Party had on Surjeet , he said that  from his formative years he was against imperialism and communalism . The Concept of Economic freedom as an integral part of the concept of Independence  had dawned on him  following the footsteps of  the martyrs like Bhagat Singh . Punjab and Bengal were the cradle of the extremist wing of Indian Freedom Struggle at that time  He also  highlighted the contribution of Com Surjeet in penning the document on the Soviet flaws during the observation  of the 70Th Annieversary of  October Revolution in 1987 at  Moscow  , his out and out role to thwart the communal politics in the country in 1996 and 2004  when he as the General Secretary of CPI(M) had played a pivotal part  in keeping away  Communal parties from governance . He was  a master  tactician  though he did not have any formal education.  He believed in strengthening the communist movement on one hand by forging independent class struggles  and on the other hand to weaken the ruling party  by weakening them using tactical strength. Right now in the country  the communal forces are gaining ground  and currently the actual control of the  Modi Government is in the hand of the RSS,. In West  Bengal and elsewhere in the country Majority  Communalism is feeding on Minority fundamentalism  and accused the TMC and BJP of matchfixing between them  on issues like Sarada Chit Fund Probe and  Scams like Vyapam  and Modigatewhere several BJP leaders including Scindia , Sushma swaraj and others are involved. Their relation  ( BJP and TMC ) is now a marriage of conveniences  he said  in his Speech . In reply to State Chief Minister  Mamata Banerjees’  comment that ‘she can decimate the Left in One  Minute’,  he said  HItler had tried to do so and it was the  carriers of Red Flag being  led by the Soviet Forces which had demolished the  Hitler’s Forces  and had unfurled the Red flag  in the Reichstag  in Berlin.

The India Super Rich and their palatial bungalows worth hundreds of crores of rupees.

13 Sunday Sep 2015

The Indian rich are flush with huge money. They  own many properties, palatial houses in big cities and tourist spots. They do not mind paying hundreds of crores of rupees to satisfy their ego and comfort.

The 27 floor residence of Mukesh Ambani, Antilia,  in the posh area of Mumbai is well known. It may cost more than thousands of  crore. Now the latest is the purchase of iconic Lincoln House by Pune based  industrialist Cyrus Poonawalla for Rs 750 crore. It was a palace earlier and leased to US Consulate.

The former Maharajas are  nothing in their riches compared to the Billionaires of today.

This is to be seen in the Indian context, where there are many crores of poor people, who do not have any home and stay in the open.

Kerala victimisation

The Joint Action Committee of BSNLEU, SNEA and CCLU(BSNLCCWF) in Kerala has decided to organise Non-coperation and Satyagraha in front of Circle and SSA Offices from 15th September 2015 onward protesting against the vindictive victimisation of the union leaders/workers and demanding withdrawal of suspensions and false cases and immediate stringent action against MSS Rao CGM Kerala who is alleged with corruption charges.

The anti-worker, anti-BSNL decisions and actions of the CGM MSS Rao is  fully responsible for the present outrage amongst the workers. As assured by the BSNL Management during the discussion with the unions at Thiruvananthapuram on 20th August, MSS Rao CGM BSNL Kerala should be transferred immediately. The victimisation of the  union leaders/workers should cancelled immediately.
