The D-Day is here for which thew workers have been preparing for months. Yes, the One Day General Strike called by the 10 Central Trade Unions, which have a combined membership of 15 crore is going to stat by the mid-night of today, 1st September – 2nd December.More than 14 crore workers are expected to participate. Last minute arrangements are going on. In many places rallies, participated by thousands and thousands of workers have taken place today.
And the strike starts at midnight. Participate fully in the stuggle against the anti-worker policy of the government and the 10 point demands raised by the trade unions.
Below is given the

I am pained to write that I am not at all happy.
Perhaps purpose of strike I couldn’t understand. But I do understand that huge huge number of various types of Service Users will be facing enormous difficulties. Will these people sympathize with strikers? Or, are the strikers not bothered for these people?
Whatever, the enthusiasm, zeal and satisfaction reflected by this strike are nowhere compared to the enthusiasm, zeal and satisfaction generated by working hard by employees of usual Service Providers in general and BSNL/MTNL in particular to reinforce / boost economy of India.
These observations may be useless; but would be happy to know if they are, what are the reasons.
Will somebody awaken me?
The General Strike on 2nd September is based on the 10point demands which includes reduction in prices of essential commodities, for a minimum wage of Rs. 15,000, social security, against disinvestment and privatisation, minimum pension of Rs. 1,000 etc. Neithere the government nor any body has been able to tell that these are incorrect demands. As far as the BSNL employees are concerned the demands include revival of BSNL, refund of money to BSNL for the surrendered spectrum, purchase of equipment and so on. The demands are are widely propagated and are available in news papers, media etc. you may go through it.
With regards to BSNL, the government has been trying and is still trying to finish it. Then only the private companies can increase the rates and maximise profits. All the govt. assurances are nothing but thin air. They want to privatise and hand over this big company to private as they had already done in the case of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited(VSNL). Now it is a Tata Company. It is against such anti-worker, anti-people policies the strike is being organised on 2nd September. BSNL is surviving only due to the sustained struggles of the employees.Otherwise it would have been privatised or disinvested earlier. The struggle is for the survival of BSNL and for the workers and their families who depend upon them.
The government will always oppose such actions as British Government opposed Gnadhijis struggle for Independence. Every struggle has got its importance, whether it is Independence struggle, fight against ‘Emergency 1975’ or against the wrong policies of the government. It is the duty of every worker to support such struggles and participate in them.
