Nepal needs India’s help. The people of India should continue their help to the bleeding Nepal people who are suffering beyond words, due to the continued earth quakes.

Very liberal donations are required to help Nepalese people in their difficult times.

Fidel Castro

Though 88 and resting,  Fidel Castro has a lot to say. It is correct; the Revolutionary Leader is still an inspiration for the entire world, which waits to hear him. A report about his meeting with French President Francois Hollande who called upon him at Havana, Cuba.

Havana, May 12 : French President Francois Hollande called today for an end to the US embargo on Cuba, as he met with Fidel Castro during the first visit by a Western leader since  Washington and Havana moved to restore ties.

Hollande said France will do whatever possible to see that “the measures that have so badly  harmed Cuba’s development can finally be lifted” ahead of meetings with Fidel and his younger brother Raul Castro, the duo who have ruled Cuba since its 1959 revolution.

Hollande met first with a smiling Fidel, the iconic 88-year-old father of the revolution, who he said still “had a lot to say”. Castro wore a black and white sweat suit over a checked shirt in contrast to the military fatigues that were his trademark before he yielded power to his younger brother in 2006.

Hollande called Fidel a figure of historic stature.

Com.K.Chnadran

With deep grief and sorrow it is intimated that Comrade K.Chandran, senior leader of the P and T Trade union movement and also of the Pensioners movement, passed away today at Kozhikode. He was 83.

Joining the Telegraph Office, Calicut as a boy peon at the age of 16, Com. Chandretten, as he was respectfully called by all his colleagues, retired from service in 1989. He has been the District Secretary and also a Circle Office-bearer of the T.III Union (NFPTE). In all the strikes since 1960 he has participated and was suspended and victimised heavily.

He had deep knowledge about the trade union movement, both national and international. He was very active even till the last moment in the pensioners movement, especially AIBDPA.

I have a long association with him while I was working at Calicut. His commitment to the union and co-workers was beyond description. He stood with the workers and defended them at all costs.

His death is a great loss to the trade union movement and personally to me.

My Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family – wife Smt. Shyamala, sons Manoj Kumar,Shaju and daughter Minimol. Condolences to his comrades and friends.

Red Salute to Com. K.Chandran!

Land Bill referred to Joint Committee of both Houses of Parliament

Joint Parliament Committee, Land Bill

The BJP government seems to be determined to hand over the agricultural and other land to the corporates as a reward for the  liberal donation given to the BJP’s election fund.

Despite the stiff opposition from almost all the opposition parties against the Land Bill which can arbitrarily take over land from the peasants and farmers without their consent for industrial and other uses, the BJP government wants it to be adopted by the house. Well knowing that the bill can not be passed in the Rajya Sabha, it is proposing to hold a joint meeting of the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha, where it expects majority. In preparation for the same, the Joint Committee of Both Houses of the parliament is constituted. It is having 30 members with Shri S.S.Ahluwalia, as the Chairperson.

The government is going to face stiff attack not only inside Parliament, but outside also, with crores of farmers / kisans prepared to fightto the last  to keep their source of living.  Whatever argument is raised by the government is not going to convince them.

Government should detract from this anti-farmer move or face the music.

WFTU Celebrated Anti-Fascism Day on 9th May 2015

Anti-Fascism Day, WFTU

The World Federation of Trade Unions honors the 70 years since the Antifascist Victory of the peoples on 9 May 2015.

A high-level delegation of the WFTU is participating in the celebrations in Moscow, Russia to pay their respects to the people and the heroic working class of the Soviet Union who sacrificed the most with more than 20 million dead in the war against Nazism and Fascism.

9 May is a symbol of the great victory over Fascism and Nazism which in the times of the II World War seemed impossible to many. However, the enormous military power of German and the Fascist Axis (Italy and Japan) despite the immense support received by the German and International Monopolies were defeated by the organized resistance of the peoples and the role played by the Soviet Union -who at that time was in a temporary alliance with the USA, France and Britain.

The II World War was a result of the great intensification of the contradictions and the competitiveness between the capitalist states over the natural resources, the markets and the redistribution of the control over the world. (WFTU Report)

International Nurses Day – Birth Anniversary of Florence Nightingale

12th May, International Nurses Day

World over, 12th May is celebrated as the International Nurses Day, in memory of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, who was born on 12th May 1820.

Nursing was not considered a respectable job even about hundred years  back and respectable girls were discouraged from taking the job. Then think about a girl born in high and rich  family taking the job of nursing the patients! Florence Nightingale took the courage and made basis for the nursing  about two centuries back.

India, specially Kerala and North East,  can take credit all over the world for the large number of Nurses (males and female) serving in difficult situations including in military and disturbed areas. Their sacrifice, courage and sufferings are widely appreciated.

Our grateful salute and thanks to all the nursing fraternity on the International Nurses Day!

TRAI, DOT and TERM- all shut eyes against violation of rules by private companies?

CAG, DOT, TERM, Violations

The report of the CAG on Telecom bring out so many facts. The private companies like Reliance, Airtel etc. are brazenly violating the rules on spectrum licence, roaming and on many other counts, resulting in thousands of crores of rupees to the government. In addition, the security concerns of the country are violated.

Despite all these being brought to the notice of the DOT and TERM, no action is taken against these private companies. 2 G scam is known to all, resulting in loss of about 1.72 lakh crore. It seems that whichever ministry comes, the private companies are capable of continuing their violation of rules to maximise their profit and escape unscathed.

Communications Minister should take strong action in these cases.
