We can congratulate ourselves that we have got the biggest Postal Network in the World. As on 31-03-2012, India has got 1,54,822 post offices, out of which 1.39,086 ( 89.83%) are in the rural areas. At the time when we got independence, there were only 23.344 P.O.s, that too, mainly in the urban areas. Some statistics about the Indian Postal Network are given below:

Total No. of Accounts(SB,RD,TD etc)     :  31,20,70,823   ( 31.2 crore)           10.Amount in Accounts                            :  Rs. 41008256.3 Lakh

Yes, it is one of the biggest organisation catering to crore and crore people of this country. Can we allow the government to privatise and destroy it? NO!  NO!
