A very disturbing news have come in Economic Times. It has reported that Cabinet Secretary Ajit Singh has called for a meeting of top officers to discuss about the closing down of certain big loss making PSUs including BSNL and MTNL.
According to the report the proposal is for closure of 10 loss making companies like BSNL, MTNL, Air India, Hindustan Fertilisers, Hindustan Photo Films etc. the total loss of which comes in 2012-13 is Rs.24,500 crore.
If the report is correct, the cat is out of the bag. Earlier the UPA Government and the present NDA governments were shouting on tree top about their proposals for Revival of BSNL and MTNL. Everybody knew the assurances are hollow. If the above report is correct, then unions in BSNL and MTNL has to urgently meet and plan our resistance and no-barred struggles.
Com.V.A.N.Namboodiri, Convener, Forum has issued a Press Release strongly opposing the move to close down BSNL.( Please visit BSNLEU website).

as per psu rules only profit making psu’s are eligible for wage revision.since bsnl is loss making for the past 3 years how bsnl is going to get wage revision when the pay scales are due for wage revision from 1.1.2017.Do bsnl union have any game plan to change the rules
The workers under the Forum are trying to improve the services and pressurising the Govt. and management for financial vability. At least the loss has come down this year. If govt., management and employees jointly make efforts BSNL can be made profitable.
sir ,MTNL is going to close to watch fun and BSNL will have staff of 25, 000 only in near future , so bonus perks , wage on the way , CMD has to resign for non performance of / loss making
There is no denying of the fact that, considering the aspect of national security – both internal and external, active existence of govt owned telecom service provider(s) is a must in a country like ours. If the central govt actually proceed with the ill-conceived idea of closing down BSNL/ MTNL, only due to financial consideration, then it is surely pursuing an anti-national path of governance. All patriotic people must raise their strong voice against this heinous move.
You are correct.
I am a BSNl Employee of Shimoga Karnataka. I am shocked about news of closing BSNL . For illness medicine and treatment should be given not made to die. Closing is not only the solution to the problem. We are ready to face any advance technology. We have to integrete and fight against closure
The Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations has given many suggestions for revival of BSNL. If govt., management and workers work together BSNL can be revived.
All we can see BBNL or ITS lobby forcing to get OFC network of BSNL for use of private operators. BSNL is not going to shut down in a shot. it will be closed by slices like tower , ofc , infra firms . . its time to do or die situation for all of us.
The service of bsnl is pathetic. To catch a teleadvisor / customer care representative we have to call twice, thrice and they cut the calls to their wish. Even if they attend the call they will not hear anything from our end and shut the phone anytime. One has to pay the lineman, engineer even to get the connection.
Please first check what is the politics within your concern. People doesnt switch service providers for silly reasons. When the service is poor, it is obvious it goes for a loss.
We are sorry that you got raw deal from BSNL. The unions are on a campaign for providing a better service to the customers. Kindly give the details of your experience with the telephone numbers and other details so that we can do the needful.
Respected sir being a bsnl employee with remaining service of 27 years what I can expect about our future , despite working hard on 24*7 to maintain our ofc routes I know our future is bleak.Being a veteran of the company please suggest me what best we can do to safeguard our as well as company future.
Dear comrade, This is the main issue before the BSNL workers. We have to make all out efforts to improve the services, make the management and the government to implement their assurances given at the time of formation of BSNL and provide a better service. There is no doubt that BSNL will revive.
