The decision of the Election Commission to implement the ‘NOTA’ opportunity to the voters in the oncoming assembly elections in the 5 states of Delhi, Rajasthan, M.P., Chhattisgarh and Mizoram, has seriously worried the major political parties. The ‘None Of The Above’ (NOTA) choice is given to the voters, who do not want to vote for any of the candidates in the list. The ‘NOTA” button in the Electronic Voting Machine(EVM)/ symbol in the Ballot Paper, will be pink in the assembly elections, but will be in white for the General Election.
Both the ruling and opposition parties, Congress and BJP, are much worried, since a lot of voters angry with the track-record of the present incumbents may vote ‘NOTA’.
It will be interesting to see much ‘NOTA’ votes pile up.

if NOTO wins again the election will be held in that part Is it correct
Even if NOTA gets majority, the candidate who gets the maximum votes will be elected.
Then what is the use of it. Will it serve as any caution bell to elected representative
The present decision of the Election Commission to put ‘NOTA’ button as per the directive of the Supreme Court is only one step forward. I will certainly improve the situation, since it is a rebuke to the contending candidates, if more NOTA is there. Many reforms in the Election process is required including strict limit on expenditure, complete transparency, the right to recall the erring representatives etc.The present one is only one step forward. The effect can be seen after the present election.
present elections for 5 states, will ring the bell for parliament election candidates selection I hope.
