BSNL employees have been deprived of the Bonus for the last few years, on the plea by the management that since the company is in loss, employees are not eligible for Bonus. This is untenable.
The recognised union, BSNLEU, has pointed out that the present Bonus (PLI) Formula, which states that workers are not eligible for Bonus if the company is in loss, is an arbitrary decision with out consulting or discussing with the union/s.
BSNLEU and United Forum has already issued strike notice which includes the Bonus Demand also. BSNL Management should discuss and take a favourable decision. Bonus should be paid to the BSNL employees with out further delay. The Holidays season is already starting.

Respected com. -Since long I am observing that Unions/Associations come in action 1 or 2 months before festivals only and as soon as the same gets over they become silent keeping the situation as it is, for further next year agenda. Many non earning Companies/Department are paying Bonus to their employee. The Company has taken our various facilities i.e. Bonus, LTC, Medical, HRA on 78.2%, SUA on 78.2%, Arrear of 78.2%, Review of many allowances on new IDA Pay etc. in the name of loss, while loss is due to Spectrum Charges, Calculation of Pension fund on max. Pay, undue/unjustified taxes etc. – Please provide your views in detail sir.
Dear Comrade, your views are not correct. The struggles and agitations are not connected with the festivals and holiday season, but on the basis of the requirement and the urgency of the issues to be dealt. You can check with the strikes in the past years and you will find that what I stated is correct. You forget that whatever you ( though you have not given your name or address, I think that you are a BSNL employee) are getting is through the struggle of the workers. Whether it is the wage revision in 2000 or w.e.f.01-01-2007, or the Promotion Policy, it has been through massive agitations and strikes that we got it. There was no Bonus before 1977 for the Government employees. it was after a long strike in 1974, that we got it at least in 1977. You will understand what the management will do, if there is no union. For Bonus and for the restoration of the LTC etc. all the unions/associations of non-executives and executives are unitedly trying. But the loss of the company is a major factor. You may be aware that loss making PSUs like ITI, HMT, could not pay the wages regularly. They could not get any wage revision in 1997 or 2007.In such circumsances, all of us has together to work for strengthening BSNL and make it profitable. The Forum of BSNL Unions/Associations has given many valuable suggestions to the Government and management to improve the situation.
Dear Comrade, You are either completely mistaken or you don’t follow the developments. BSNLEU has demanded for Bonus all these years and agitated also. Just be kind enough to go through all the union journals and the website.
Probably you are new to BSNL/Telecom. It may be interesting for you to know that there was no Bonus for government employees till 1977. There was a 22 days strike for bonus by the confederation of central govt. Employees, Railways etc. NFPTE headed by OP Gupta and FNPTO opposed the strike. It was comrades like us NFPTE KG Bose group who went on strike and were dismissed, terminated, transferred and punished. It was because of that strike that we got Bonus from 1977. We always have held that Bonus is the right of the workers. And we will fight for it. Even in the latest strike notice it is one of the major demands.You can say anything but there is no use in distorting history and the past. It is a futile exercise.
