Railways in acute need of 2,000 additional wagons

It is reported that Railways is in acute shortage of wagons to carry goods, especially coal. As per the Railways Minister Shri Suresh Prabhu, more than 2,000 additional wagons are required. The tenders are yet to be finalised.

It seems that the BSNL example is being repeated here. Making shortage of required wagons, the railways will be in difficulty. And then running of goods trains can be taken over by the private corporates. There is every chance that the shortage is planned to weaken Railways, as it was done to BSNL by cancelling the tender for required mobile connections, which was the main reason for starting of its down fall.

The Government has decided to invest 5 to 15 percent of workers Provident Fund amount in share market,  ignoring the strong opposition by the entire trade union movement.  In the EPF Organisation, the Central Trade Unions have vehemently opposed the same earlier.

The entire workers have to protest and defeat the anti-worker decision of the government. The 11 Central Trade Unions are expected to organise the protest effectively.

Put a stop to the sale of PSUs

privatisation, sale of PSU shares

The government is proposing to sell shares of BHEL, NMDC, NALCO, ONGC, PFC, REC etc. in the financial year 2015-16 to mop up about Rs.41,000 crores. These sales are nothing but handing over of the nation’s assets to the corporate bigwigs for a portion of their real worth. There has been huge corruption in the sale of shares earlier and it will be there in future also. These sales of share are nothing but the steps towards privatisation

Handing over the assets of the nation to the corporate should stop.

Don’t Privatise Kolkata Chennai and other Airports

The aggressive move of the Central Government to hand over the Kolkata, Chennai and other profit making airports is strongly opposed. Modernisation of these airports has been done by the Airport Authority of India with huge costs and there is no need for another modernisation immediately. It is intended only for privatisation.

The government should stop this anti-PSU move.

Strategic Sale of PSUs a policy statement – Disinvestment Secretary

privatisation, Sale of PSUs

The strategic sale of PSUs is being taken as an important policy of the government. This was stated by Ms. Aradhana Johri, Secretary, Department of Disinvestment, in an interview published in the Economic Times dated 4th March 2015.

The strategic sale is applicable both to profit making as well as loss making PSUs. At the time of the earlier NDA government, such sales were made privatising BALCO, Centaur Hotels, VSNL etc. The Modi Government is also on the same line.

United struggles are the only way to save the PSUs from being grabbed by the MNCs and Indian Corporates. Prepare for such united and mighty struggles to defeat the government move and save the assets of the country.

More PSUs on the Privatisation Route

privatisation

The huge election funds provided by the corporates and big business for BJP is being repaid by the NDA government many fold to the donors. The PSUs, the assets of the country are being handed over to them one after another.

The method is simple. Make the PSUs in to  loss making by any method, just like purchasing more air crafts than required (Air India) or not purchasing equipment for development and expansion (BSNL). There are many other methods. After the profitable company becomes loss making,  it can be handed over the private sharks to make profit for themselves.

In a meeting at Varanasi, yesterday, 25th December, Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured the railway workers that there will be no privatisation of Railways, but private investment will brought for improving and expanding the same.

No Privatisation is OK. It is the demand of the 13 lakhs of railway employees, who have strongly opposed the move and are preparing for a serious struggle against the same.

But the private investment in the railways and PPP is part of the game of the government to gradually hand over this important sector to the private companies. The workers have to be warned about the same.

The Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu assures that there is no proposal to privatise Railways. He continues in the same breath that public investment in Railways is necessary.

The meaning is clear. All of a sudden, Railways will not be privatised. But starting with public investment, the process will start for privatisation.

The policy of the government is well known. It is privatisation. That is why the Railway Federations( AIRF)etc. are  preparing for serious struggle.
