ALL INDIA PROTEST HARTAL ON 10 SEPTEMBER AGAINST HUGE INCREASE IN PETROL PRICE

The Left Parties and many other parties have jointly decided for a Nation wide Hartal on 10th September 2018 against the soaring prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. The petrol price has gone up to Rs. 84 for petrol, which is almost double after Modi Government has come in to power. Even while the price of crude oil, worldwide is coming down, the petrol price in India is increasing, to satisfy the lust for money of Corporates like Reliance, the biggest oil company in the country.

We fully support the Hartal intended to compel the government to reduce the petrol, diesel, cooking gas prices.

Inflation, Petrol

While Modi government praises itself for the growth of economy, the actual fact is that more and more miseries are being piled up on the people. During last month the inflation has gone up for a four year high  in June 2018 – 5.77%. The main reason is the continued increase of petrol and diesel prices. Petrol has up more than Rs. 80 per litre in almost all the cities.

We hope that the opposition parties will raise up these issues in the Parliament session which is going to start shortly.

Petrol, Diesel prices may increase daily.

The decision of the government that petrol and diesel prices will be fixed daily is an affront to commonsense and is intended to help the oil companies to increase their profit. In addition to the confusion due to daily price fixing, The customers will be exploited much more than at present. Though the Government has stated  that the prices are being fixed in relation with global prices, in practice it is completely different. When the global prices increase, it is increased here also. But when the global prices decrease, by increasing the taxes etc. the customer does not get the benefit. End this ruthless exploitation of the common people!

Modi Government is practically becoming the government for the corporates!

Protest this petrol, diesel hike.

diesel price hike, Petrol, Protest

There is no justification for the present hike in the price of petrol and diesel, which is increased by Rs. 2.5 for petrol and Rs. 2.26 for diesel. This is the 19th hike for petrol and 16th hike for diesel within the last two years after the Modi Government took over.

The government had declared that after deregulation, the prices will come down, when the international prices come down. The international price at present for petrol is only Rs. 25.31 whereas the government has raised it to Rs.65.63 by increasing the customs/excise/taxes. This is nothing but looting the people.

Strong protest should come from the political parties, workers and the people to make the government to retract from the anti-people decision.

Petrol, Diesel prices hike Rs. 3.13 and Rs. 2.71 respectively for a litre

From tonight the prices of petrol and diesel will go up substantially. The increase for petrol is Rs. 3.13  and Rs. 2.71 for diesel per litre. The government justifies the hike on the plea that the international price for crude oil has gone up. This is the second time within a short period the prices have been increased.

When the international prices come down, it is not reflected on the price to the consumer since government increase the tax etc. But the prices increase the full burden is put on the shoulders of the customer.

Petrol, Diesel Price increased

diesel, Petrol, price rise

On the day the Central Budget has been presented, the price of petrol and diesel has increased. The price of petrol is increased by Rs.2.18 per litre and that of diesel by Rs.3.09. This is effective from the midnight of 28th February – 1st March 2015.

This is the second time that the price is increased recently. When global prices are reduced, the full reduction is not given. But when the prices go  up, it is fully implemented. This is completely wrong and anti-people.

Don’t Increase Tax on Petrol and Diesel – CPI(M)

CPI(M), Petrol, Tax on diesel

New Delhi, November 14: The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of CPI(M) has issued the following statement:

No Increased Tax on Petrol and Diesel

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its strong opposition to the Modi government’s decision to increase excise duty on petrol and diesel. There has been a steep hike of Rs. 1.50 per litre.

Petrol and diesel are already heavily taxed and this constitutes a major part of the retail price. Therefore, there is no justification for this tax hike.

The government is misleadingly stating that this hike will not result in an increase in the retail price of petrol and diesel. However, what it actually does is to prevent a further reduction in the retail price which is due. This amount is being mopped up to augment government revenue to the tune of Rs. 6,000 crore in the current financial year. Not only the people have been deprived of a substantial reduction in petrol and diesel prices, but in future when international oil prices rise, the tax burden on the people will increase.

There is a need for an immediate review and revision of the tax structure on petroleum products. The iniquitous ad valorem tax should be given up and a more rational tax structure instituted.

Once again the price of petrol and diesel has been increased. The petrol price will go up by Rs. 1.69 per litre and diesel by 50 paise. But the actual price will be more since the tax will be in addition. In Delhi the rise for petrol will be Rs. 2.02 bringing the price for litre to Rs. 73.58. This new rates will come in to force from the midnight of 30 June- 1st July.

Whether it is UPA Government or NDA government, there is no escape from the price increase.
