BSNL Contract workers as per the call of the CCLU Kerala is on struggle on the basis of the Charter of Demands presented to the Management. These include higher wage, upgrading workers to skilled workers, against reducing of hours of work etc. After organising dharnas in front of GMs and CGM Offices, Circle Secretary, Com.N.R.Somasekharan Nair and Com. B.Babu, Asst. Treasurer are on Hunger Strike in front of CGM Office Thiruvananthapuram since 6th July 2015. Management had earlier called for discussion, but no settlement could be reached due to the adamant stand taken by the Circle management. BSNLEU Workers organised protest meetings in all centres against victimisation of Circle BSNLEU leaders for supporting the agitation and participating in the action programmes of the CCLU.

BSNLCCWF CHQ demands the circle management to discuss the charter of demands with the unions, vacate the victimisation etc. thus paving way for a settlement.

Gold Thirsty Malayali – a report in TOI

Gold, Kerala

Today’s Sunday Times (Delhi Edition) in its first page has exposed the gold greedy Kerala people. As per the report three finance companies in Kerala have got more than 195 tons of gold in their vaults, which is much more than the gold reserves of countries like Sweden, Singapore, Australia etc.

According to the report, Muthoot Finance has 116 tons, Manappuram Finance 40 tons and Muthoot Fincorp 39 tons of gold in their vaults. Singapore has got only 127 tons, Sweden 126 and Australia 80 tons of gold reserve.

The Malayali is much fond of gold and is happy showing off also. The gold ornaments worn by the bride and now bride groom also is beyond imagination. The yellow metal has become a status mark. The large number of cases of gold smuggling through flights give an idea that how much gold is being smuggled to Kerala.

It is not much different in other parts of the country also, may be to a lesser extent.

The Malayalis must have a rethink on their mad love for gold.

BSNL, Kerala, profit

Kerala is one BSNL circle which has maintained the profitability all these years, even when there has been loss almost in every circle. Kerala had posted Rs, 284 crore in 2012-13. Now it is understood that the profit for 2013- 14 will be around Rs. 400 crore.

Our hearty congratulations for Kerala Circle and the workers there. If Kerala can make this  progress, all other circles can also do the same thing. In many circles, the loss has come down. It is the route to make profits in future.  Let all of us put our best for the people, for BSNL.

BSNL, BSNLEU, Kerala

When BSNL is struggling at the All India level, it is making rapid advances in Kerala circle. The profit of that circle is expected to touch Rs.400 crore for the financial year 2013-14. It is worth mentioning that the profit of Kerala circle was Rs.287 crore in 2012-13. BSNL, in Kerala circle is having a market share of 32.32%. In the land line segment it’s market share is 96.11%. In the financial year 2013-14, BSNL in Kerala has added 10,89,385 cellular connections, 78,619 land line connections, 1,68,433 broadband connections, 18,646 Wimax connections and 50,116 CDMA WLL connections. The CHQ of BSNLEU salutes the employees of Kerala circle, as well as the motivating role being played by BSNLEU and all other unions and associations. The question before us is, if Kerala circle can give such a wonderful performance, then why such a performance could not be given by the employees of other circles? Let every one of us think and act. The First Communist Government In Kerala

Communist Government, Kerala

5th April 1957 is a historic day in the annals of Indian Democracy. It was on this day that the first Communist Government was formed in Kerala with Com. E.M.S.Namboodiripad as the Chief Minister. That was also the first election taken place after Kerala State was formed.

The ministry had only narrow majority. Despite all out efforts by the Congress Party and the Central Congress Government, they could not get a single Communist/Independent to switch over to topple the ministry.

Important legislations like Land Reforms, Education Act etc. were passed by the government which gave much relief to the people. The vested interests and fundamentalists all came together against the government, but again could not topple it. The US imperialists funded the agitation against the Kerala Communist Government.

At last, after all plans failed to topple the democratically elected Government, the Central Government dismissed it by invoking Article 356 of the Constitution. Shame on the Congress Government.

Kerala is on the top in Literacy, average income, housing, educational institutions, medical facilities, longevity etc. The democratic and labour movements are strong in the state. The Left and Left led governments in Kerala has got a pivotal role in all this.
